As a Woman Thinketh by James Allen Pdf

Dorothy Jean Hulst, a free-lance writer, had as one of her favorite books As A Man Thinketh, by James Allen. In this short volume, Allen expressed his belief that an individual, through the power of positive thought, forms their character and consequent happiness. Hulst was inspired by the content of Allen's book but tired of the mental exercise required to substitute feminine equivalents for masculine terms. Using a pencil, she crossed out all masculine references, replacing them with feminine words. The result, As A Woman Thinketh, allows women to identify directly and personally with Allen's concepts.

Mike Pauro, aka 'Ajax Moon' and his daughter, Morgan Deeble, aka 'Bridey Moon' remake the aphorism examined by James Allen for women. In this transposition of Allen's classic, the authors revisit the impact of thought on health, purpose, achievement, ideas, and serenity from the female perspective. The work is accompanied by imagery from early 20th century postcards passed down for generations in their family. The images were selected to be contemporaneous of the era of James Allen (1864-1912).

As a Woman Thinketh by James Allen,Justin Yule Pdf

As a Woman Thinketh Originally by James AllenRevised by Justin Yule for the Women of Fitness RevolutionAs a Man Thinketh has been a MAJOR influence in my life. It helped reshape my vision and kick-start a new chapter in my life that was both extremely difficult and incredibly rewarding. I wouldn't be sharing this "updated" version with you today if it weren't for the constant study of the original...I'll spare you all the gory details, but let's just say that while things seemed to be going really well for me to onlookers, I was VERY unhappy with where I was and where I was headed... In 2008 I enrolled in a personal development coaching program with Bob Proctor (www.BobProctor.com) and the very first book we studied was As a Man Thinketh. To say that I diligently read the book would be a severe understatement - I STUDIED IT! It spoke to me in a way no other book had; I couldn't get enough of it. I literally carried it everywhere I went - I read it over and over and over again. If I was in line at a café I pulled it out and read it. If I was waiting for an appointment I pulled it out and read hit. Hell, I even read it in the bathroom. ;-b I read it at every opportunity I had. I studied the words, thought about them, made notes and reflected on what they meant to me. I swear, every time I read it, I picked up something new or got a better understanding of the message James Allen was sharing.I've since recommended As a Man Thinketh to countless personal training clients and even share an excerpt from chapter 3 (Thought and Health) in my Total Body Breakthroughs Workshop that I lead at my Fitness Revolution in Chanhassen, MN.I updated As a Man Thinketh to As a Woman Thinketh because I train so many women. While James Allen meant for the book to be read by everyone, the style of writing in his time was masculine. I never liked the way this "left women out" of the great lessons taught in his book. This book is too important to be put aside by a woman who misinterprets the title or feels put off by the masculine tone.I want to dedicate this version - As a Woman Thinketh - to the most important women in my life:My mother who has been there for me my entire life. She has stood by my side through thick and thin, and she's loved me unconditionally. Without her support I would not be where I am today. My wife Janell who is my best friend in this world. She has stuck with me through this incredible roller coaster of life. Her faith in me along with her undying love gave me the ability to become the person I am today. I will be forever grateful to her.My female clients who bust their butts each and every day to be the best version of themselves. You are why I do what I do every day. Being a small part of your transformation is a true honor and a pleasure. Thank you for your continued commitment to Fitness Revolution and yourself...HAVE FAITH & TAKE ACTION!

As a Woman Thinks by Associate Professor of Philosophy James Allen,Janice Demano,James Allen Pdf

Thoughts are indeed powerful and can influence us in both positive and negative ways. In times past, it was commonplace for man to refer to both men and women. And as women we can surely understand this, but how much more powerful the words are that are written directly for the feminine in us. So I have rewritten this great work originally titled, As a Man Thinketh by James Allen and using feminine pronouns rather than masculine along with modern English present this work to the women of the world. May you each be empowered by the truths contained within. Janice Demano Philippines Live and Love with Passion! Live Life Abundantly! Our Love to you and yours! Mel & Jan

Too Much by Rachel Vorona Cote Pdf

Lacing cultural criticism, Victorian literature, and storytelling together, "TOO MUCH spills over: with intellect, with sparkling prose, and with the brainy arguments of Vorona Cote, who posits that women are all, in some way or another, still susceptible to being called too much." (Esmé Weijun Wang) A weeping woman is a monster. So too is a fat woman, a horny woman, a woman shrieking with laughter. Women who are one or more of these things have heard, or perhaps simply intuited, that we are repugnantly excessive, that we have taken illicit liberties to feel or fuck or eat with abandon. After bellowing like a barn animal in orgasm, hoovering a plate of mashed potatoes, or spraying out spit in the heat of expostulation, we've flinched-ugh, that was so gross. I am so gross. On rare occasions, we might revel in our excess--belting out anthems with our friends over karaoke, perhaps--but in the company of less sympathetic souls, our uncertainty always returns. A woman who is Too Much is a woman who reacts to the world with ardent intensity is a woman familiar to lashes of shame and disapproval, from within as well as without. Written in the tradition of Shrill, Dead Girls, Sex Object and other frank books about the female gaze, TOO MUCH encourages women to reconsider the beauty of their excesses-emotional, physical, and spiritual. Rachel Vorona Cote braids cultural criticism, theory, and storytelling together in her exploration of how culture grinds away our bodies, souls, and sexualities, forcing us into smaller lives than we desire. An erstwhile Victorian scholar, she sees many parallels between that era's fixation on women's "hysterical" behavior and our modern policing of the same; in the space of her writing, you're as likely to encounter Jane Eyre and Lizzie Bennet as you are Britney Spears and Lana Del Rey. This book will tell the story of how women, from then and now, have learned to draw power from their reservoirs of feeling, all that makes us "Too Much."

The Woman's Guide to how Men Think by Shawn T. Smith Pdf

Comedian George Carlin once said, "Women are from earth. Men are from earth. Just deal with it." Though witty, this sentiment fails to recognize one of the real truths in life: that both genders are completely mystified by one another, and often have a mile-long list of complaints for the opposite sex. Yet, generally speaking, both men and women want to get along--especially if there's romance involved. A Woman's Guide to How Men Think offers a practical, humorous, yet compassionate guide for women who want to learn the secrets of the elusive male mind. With author Shawn Smith's trademark humor, you'll come to understand why men think and see the world the way they do, and how to work with men to cultivate understanding and communication in relationships, without expecting men to be creatures that they are not. This isn't a male-bashing book about how men should be more like women, but a book about how men actually are, and how women can use this understanding to get what they need from their relationships. You'll also learn why men often feel frustrated and criticized, how to deal with lack of communication in ways that don't put men on the defensive, and how being curious and compassionate (while not accepting disrespectful or abusive behavior) instead of dismissing men for their inherently male traits can lead to greater understanding between the sexes. The plain truth is that both men and women are from planet earth. But that doesn't mean we are the same. If you are looking for an insider's guide to the ever-elusive male mind, this is the book for you. The author, Shawn Smith, is a psychotherapist with a blog at ironshrink.com.

A Woman of Virtue by Liz Carlyle Pdf

A Woman of Virtue In the lonely months since her husband's death, Cecilia Lorimer has hidden her emptiness by devoting herself to a charity mission for the unfortunate women of London's slums. But when the dashing Lord Delacourt takes control, she feels an uncharacteristic urge to flee. Just six years earlier, Delacourt had proven himself to be the immoral rake society called him, nearly ruining her reputation in the bargain. It's whispered that the womanizing Delacourt is vain, vindictive, and merciless. But he's a man who honors his wagers -- and one result lands him in his brother-in-law's godforsaken mission, face-to-face with the woman who has long haunted his dreams. When treachery closes in, only he knows how to guard Cecilia from the consequences of her own principles. Can a profligate knave persuade a virtuous woman that he is worthy of her trust -- and her love?

"THINK!" How does that grab you? Ask yourself, "What is the power of my thoughts?" Or you could ask, "What are the powers of my thoughts?"To paraphrase the Proverb- As a woman thinks in her heart, so is she; as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. As YOU think in your heart, so are YOU!!!Do you remember Napoleon Hill's classic, "Think and Grow Rich" [bold italics for emphasis]? It was published in 1937, the year before he wrote "Outwitting The Devil"(never published until 2011-truly a book for our day). The power of our thoughts is the foundational blueprint of every detail in our lives. Nothing exists that was not first created and conceived in our thoughts or the thoughts of someone else. The founder of The Healing Project, Tina Stucki says, "Change your thoughts, change your life!" Tina asks me frequently, "Who are you (in my thoughts) listening to?" Who are you listening to in your thoughts? All of our feelings are created by our thoughts. A book "Feelings Buried Alive Never Die..." by Karol K. Truman is profoundly insightful.Minute by minute, even questions we ask ourselves are forms of thought. Here's a powerful book, "Change Your Questions, Change Your Life" by Wendy Watson Nelson. In "AS A WOMAN THINKETH" Isaiah Estervick transforms the wisdom and words of the late English philosopher and author James Allen, to the perspective of women everywhere.

Quit Like a Woman by Holly Whitaker Pdf

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • “An unflinching examination of how our drinking culture hurts women and a gorgeous memoir of how one woman healed herself.”—Glennon Doyle, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Untamed “You don’t know how much you need this book, or maybe you do. Either way, it will save your life.”—Melissa Hartwig Urban, Whole30 co-founder and CEO The founder of the first female-focused recovery program offers a groundbreaking look at alcohol and a radical new path to sobriety. We live in a world obsessed with drinking. We drink at baby showers and work events, brunch and book club, graduations and funerals. Yet no one ever questions alcohol’s ubiquity—in fact, the only thing ever questioned is why someone doesn’t drink. It is a qualifier for belonging and if you don’t imbibe, you are considered an anomaly. As a society, we are obsessed with health and wellness, yet we uphold alcohol as some kind of magic elixir, though it is anything but. When Holly Whitaker decided to seek help after one too many benders, she embarked on a journey that led not only to her own sobriety, but revealed the insidious role alcohol plays in our society and in the lives of women in particular. What’s more, she could not ignore the ways that alcohol companies were targeting women, just as the tobacco industry had successfully done generations before. Fueled by her own emerging feminism, she also realized that the predominant systems of recovery are archaic, patriarchal, and ineffective for the unique needs of women and other historically oppressed people—who don’t need to lose their egos and surrender to a male concept of God, as the tenets of Alcoholics Anonymous state, but who need to cultivate a deeper understanding of their own identities and take control of their lives. When Holly found an alternate way out of her own addiction, she felt a calling to create a sober community with resources for anyone questioning their relationship with drinking, so that they might find their way as well. Her resultant feminine-centric recovery program focuses on getting at the root causes that lead people to overindulge and provides the tools necessary to break the cycle of addiction, showing us what is possible when we remove alcohol and destroy our belief system around it. Written in a relatable voice that is honest and witty, Quit Like a Woman is at once a groundbreaking look at drinking culture and a road map to cutting out alcohol in order to live our best lives without the crutch of intoxication. You will never look at drinking the same way again.
