Aspects of Love by J. Barrie Shepherd Pdf

Aspects of Love is a book for those - worn out by cynicism - fatigued by sensory assault - wearied by the drive to experience new thrills - made fragile by the trivial - sickened by a lack of spiritual depthIn a world that longs for intimacy, this book casts a long ray of hope. J. Barrie Shepherd offers the loving gift of gentle, unhurried reflection on 1 Corinthians 13. He frames his thoughtful reflections in three parts: "The Necessity of Love," "The Qualities of Love," and "The Endurance of Love." Writing with the poet's sensitivity toward language and rhythm, Shepherd uses verses of scripture from 1 Corinthians 13 to examine facets of love, including communication, irritability, kindness, jealousy, humility, forgiveness happiness, and hope. He draws from the works of Golda Meir, Paul Tournier, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Winston Churchhill and closes each chapter with a prayer.God can dazzle us with the magnificance of the universe. But the heart of the universe reveals its glory in the compassion, grace, and love that come to us when we need it most, telling us, ... "You matter." --J. Barrie Shepherd

Aspects of Love by Strider Marcus Jones Pdf

I have published single poems before in anthologies, magazines and the poetry website, Secret Attic, as a competition finalist and prize winner. We all find love at some point on this life's road. In these poems, I explore this complex journey of feelings, emotions and hopes lived out between two shared souls. Each poem is a cove on loves myriad path, inviting the reader to come in and share its succulent sweetness and dark despair. I have tried to touch that nerve in each of us, in a way that is romantic but real, traditional yet modern. Some of these poems are sensual and erotic, but they all try to convey honest meaning and understanding. This is a journey of love found, lived, lost and found again. From pleasures peak to the wilderness and back. Love is the door we keep open inside and hope will never close, for to love and be loved, means we are not alone. Welcome and well met ~Strider~Love is a canvas furnished by Nature and embroidered by imagination~ Voltaire~

These and other aspects of love are artfully hidden by the protagonists until forced into the light...” —Peter Rankin. “The dampness of London, the bright sunlight and warmth of San Bernardino, the metropolitan atmosphere of Paris, and the greenness of summer at the lake are all well evoked.... 12 Aspects (of Love) by Ismael Tabuñar Fortunado Pdf

In the introduction I referenced the work of Professor Hani Henry, According to him, chair and associate professor of psychology in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology and Egyptology at AUC, Robert Sternberg’s psychological theory covers the most common reasons why we fall in love, namely: intimacy, passion and commitment. But what this entails? We have aspects and needs and wants and these must be addressed properly. These aspects are Biological, Physical, Financial, Occupational, Environmental, Social, Emotional, Cultural, Intellectual, Psychological, Moral and Spiritual. I gathered relevant knowledge and works regarding them. We can fall in love with them.

2012 Reprint of 1957 Edition. Exact facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. Ortega y Gasset's influence was considerable, not only because many sympathized with his philosophical writings, but also because his writings did not require that the reader be well read in technical philosophy. Among those strongly influenced by Ortega y Gasset were Luis Bunuel, Manuel Garcia Morente, Xavier Zubiri, Ignacio Ellacuria, Emilio Komar, Jose Gaos, Luis Recasens Siches, Manuel Granell, Francisco Ayala, Maria Zambrano, Agustin Basave, Pedro Lain Entralgo, John Lukacs, Pierre Bourdieu, and Paulino Garagorri. Chapters include: Features of Love; Love in Stendhal; The Role of Choice in Love; Thoughts on Standing Before the Marquesa de Santillana's Portrait; Landscape with a Deer in the Background; Portrait of Salome and Toward a Psychology of the Interesting Man.

Aspects of Charity by Gert Melville Pdf

"Charity" as a Christian and, in particular, also monastic virtue was a complex phenomenon in the Middle Ages. The present volume outlines, albeit with broad strokes, the field of charity in the monastic form of life. The collected essays endeavour to approach the subject from different angles, which present themselves as especially significant. The focus is placed both upon older communities oriented towards separation from the world as well as upon those open to the world and interested in interaction with all people, so that insights can be gained into mutual fraternal charity within the convents as well as into charity towards all. Additionally, the volume attempts to touch upon the wide spectrum of the communication levels of charity. Not least, attention is given to the pivotal point of charity - the systemic embedding of charity between people in the love of man for God, which leads to assimilation with Him. In doing so, the purpose was to draw attention to the fertility of the subject and to outline its importance for the history of the vita religiosa.

Aspects of Dostoevskii by Anonim Pdf

Perhaps more than any other nineteenth-century Russian writer, Dostoevskii’s continuing popularity rests on his contemporary relevance. The prophetic streak in his creativity gives him the same lasting appeal as dystopian novelists such as Zamiatin and Orwell whom he influenced and whose ethical concerns he anticipated. Religious themes are prominent in his work, too, and, though he was a believer, his interest seems to lie in the tension between faith and unbelief, which was felt as keenly in the Russia of his time as in our own. The nature of Dostoevskii’s art also continues to be debated. The older tendency to disparage his literary method has given way to a recognition of the originality of his techniques, without which his ideological concerns would not have emerged with such thought-provoking clarity. The chapters which comprise this volume address these issues in a range of Dostoevskii’s works, from shorter classics, such as House of the Dead and Notes from Underground to great novels such as Crime and Punishment and The Brothers Karamazov. This work will be of use to scholars and students of Dostoevskii at all levels as well as to those with an interest in nineteenth-century literature more generally.

The Logic of Love in the Canterbury Tales by Manish Sharma Pdf

The Logic of Love in The Canterbury Tales argues that Geoffrey Chaucer’s magnum opus draws inventively on the resources of late medieval logic to conceive of love as an "insoluble." Philosophers of the fourteenth century expended great effort to solve insolubilia, like the notorious Liar paradox, in order to decide upon their truth or falsity. For Chaucer, however, and in keeping with Christ’s admonition from the Sermon on the Mount, the lover does not judge – does not decide on – the beloved. Through a series of detailed and rigorously "non-judgmental" readings, Manish Sharma provides new insight into each of the prologues and tales and intervenes into scholarly debates about their collective import. In so doing, The Logic of Love in The Canterbury Tales deploys Chaucer’s understanding of charity to consider the limitations of modern critical approaches to The Canterbury Tales, including deconstruction, psychoanalysis, and gender theory. In the course of the analysis, Sharma shows not only how love and medieval philosophy together inform Chaucerian composition, but also how Chaucer could serve as a resource for contemporary theoretical reflections on love and ethics.

The Dark Side of Love by Anonim Pdf

"She explores how to develop a "psychological immune system" to protect against the potentially destructive elements in relationships and allow for a constructive expression of love's dark side. Her book should be read by psychoanalysts and psychotherapists, individuals who have suffered from the pains and hurts of love, and indeed by those who are interested in human motivation and behavior."--BOOK JACKET.
