The Tibetan Book of the Great Liberation by W. Y. Evans-Wentz Pdf

The Tibetan Book of the Great Liberation, which was unknown to the Western world until its first publication in 1954, speaks to the quintessence of the Supreme Path, or Mah=ay=ana, and fully reveals the yogic method of attaining Enlightenment. Such attainment can happen, as shown here, by means of knowing the One Mind, the cosmic All-Consciousness, without recourse to the postures, breathings, and other techniques associated with the lower yogas. The original text for this volume belongs to the Bardo Th?dol series of treatises concerning various ways of achieving transcendence, a series that figures into the Tantric school of the Mah=ay=ana. Authorship of this particular volume is attributed to the legendary Padma-Sambhava, who journeyed from India to Tibet in the 8th century, as the story goes, at the invitation of a Tibetan king. Padma-Sambhava's text per se is preceded by an account of the great guru's own life and secret doctrines. It is followed by the testamentary teachings of the Guru Phadampa Sangay, which are meant to augment the thought of the other gurus discussed herein. Still more useful supplementary material will be found in the book's introductory remarks, by its editor Evans-Wentz and by the eminent psychoanalyst C. G. Jung. The former presents a 100-page General Introduction that explains several key names and notions (such as Nirv=ana, for starters) with the lucidity, ease, and sagacity that are this scholar's hallmark; the latter offers a Psychological Commentary that weighs the differences between Eastern and Western modes of thought before equating the "collective unconscious" with the Enlightened Mind of the Buddhist. As with the other three volumes in the late Evans-Wentz's critically acclaimed Tibetan series, all four of which are being published by Oxford in new editions, this book also features a new Foreword by Donald S. Lopez.

The Astrological Revolution by Robert A. Powell,Kevin Dann Pdf

Like the prostrate pilgrim on the front cover --with his head protruding through the vault of heaven to discern the working of the cosmos --humanity has for many centuries employed astrology to penetrate the mystery of the stars' relationship to human destiny. Based on decades of research into both astrological reincarnation and the history of astronomy/astrology, The Astrological Revolution unfolds this mystery. The reader is invited to call into question the basis of modern astrology. This basis, the tropical zodiac, emerged through Greek astronomers from what was originally a calendar dividing the year into twelve solar months. The fact that ninety-eight percent of Western astrologers use the tropical zodiac means that contemporary Western astrology is based on a calendar system that does not reflect the actual location of the planets against the background of the starry heavens. In other words, most astrologers in the West are practicing a form of astrology that no longer embodies the reality of the stars. What is needed to bring astrology (which means the "science of the stars") back into alignment with the stars in the heavens? The first step in an astrological revolution that leads to true astrology is to recognize the sidereal zodiac (sidereal meaning "related to the stars"). In antiquity, the Babylonians, Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, and Hindus used the sidereal zodiac, and today Hindu (Vedic) astrologers still use the sidereal zodiac. Based on recognition --through the newly discovered rules of astrological reincarnation, that the sidereal zodiac presents an authentic astrological zodiac --a new practice of astrology is possible that offers tools to reestablish a wisdom-filled astrology in the modern world. This new astrology, based on the sidereal zodiac, is similar to the classic sidereal form but in a modern form, as that practiced by the three magi, who --prompted by the stars --journeyed to Bethlehem two thousand years ago. Drawing on specific biographical examples, The Astrological Revolution reveals new understandings of how the starry heavens work into human destiny. For instance, the book demonstrates the newly discovered rules of astrological reincarnation through the previous incarnations of composer Franz Schubert and his patron Joseph von Spaun --respectively, the Sultan of Morocco, Abu Yusuf Ya'qub, and his erstwhile enemy, Alfonso X, the Castilian King known as "El Sabio" (the Learned), along with their sidereal horoscopes. Rudolf Steiner's biography is also considered in relation to the sidereal zodiac and the rules of astrological reincarnation. After reestablishing the sidereal zodiac as a basis for astrology that penetrates the mystery of the stars' relationship to human destiny, the reader is invited to discover the astrological significance of the totality of the vast sphere of stars surrounding the Earth. The Astrological Revolution points to the astrological significance of the entire celestial sphere, including all the stars and constellations beyond the twelve zodiacal signs. This discovery is revealed by studying the megastars, the most luminous stars of our galaxy, illustrating how megastars show up in an extraordinary way in Christ's healing miracles by aligning with the Sun at the time of those miraculous events. The Astrological Revolution thus offers a spiritual --yet scientific --path of building a new relationship to the stars.

As he explains: "This is the work of a searcher, for all searchers filled with a pressing desire for knowledge regarding the meaning of their existence within the immeasurable and unimaginable greatness of this universe. Overawed by a sense of our own inessentiality and by our short-termed existence on this grain of sand, "Earth," we are nevertheless elated at the thought of being witnesses of the eternal riddle. He who can unite both will alone find redemption through the study of astrology." The subsequent six Sequences build methodically upon this one, for those ready to go even further: Sequence 2: Zodiac and Man Sequence 3: The World of the Planets & Man Sequence 4: Man and Earth Sequence 5: Man in the Concert of the Stars Sequence 6: Movement of Stars & Course of Life Sequence 7: Work on One's Own Horoscope. If you seek in-depth knowledge and inspiration on the celestial realms and meanings, your search will be rewarded many times over by Dr. Adler's brilliance, humor and compassion. Many students report being touched by the warmth and magnitude of his SPIRIT far beyond casual intellectual interest. Might that happen for you, too? Find out!

Blinded by Starlight by Frank McGillion Pdf

For centuries, notions such as the transformation of base into precious metals, an accord between humans and planets, the existence of an elixir of life, or prediction of the date of death, have been on the outermost fringes of science. So too have aspects of an art critical to western thought, what the Greeks termed, astronomia: an amalgam of astronomy and astrology. In Blinded By Starlight, Dr Frank McGillion demonstrates how by reference to modern scientific studies into the pineal gland, such assertions are perilously close to being shown to be, to a greater or lesser extent, true.

Gods and Planets by Eleanor Barz Pdf

What happens when Mars and Venus are in love? How does Jupiter defend himself against Saturn, his difficult father? To whom does Mercury hurry with his cap of invisibility and his winged shoes? Drawing on the psychology of C. G. Jung, Ellynor Barz looks into the foundations of astrology by recounting the myths of the planetary gods. Engaging and amusing her presentation also offers new and surprising insights for both psychology and astrology. When we understand the peculiarities and characteristics of the ancient gods symbolically as possibilities in our own human psyches - projected in astrology onto the big screen of the night sky - we discover a realm of ancient human wisdom that may exceed in subtlety most psychological models explaining the human psyche. Drawing on and actualizing the many unique possibilities inherent within - as described by the horoscope - is a life-long task. All persons have the same fundamental capabilities for experience which we rediscover in these astrological symbols. But the interplay of these essential forces arises in each individual in an entirely unique manner, corresponding to the natal horoscope. This book addresses first the astrological layperson. But it also suggests a point of view seldom considered by the astrologer. And for the interested psychologist, a domain of knowledge and experience is revealed a wealth of material that is more deeply related to psychology than one might expect.
