Avadhuta Gita of Dattatreya by Swami Chetanananda Pdf

The Avadhuta Gita, or the song of a liberated soul, is a text of Vedanta representing extreme Advaita or Non-dualism. It breathes the atmosphere of the highest experience of Brahman. It goes into no philosophical argument to prove the oneness of reality, but is content to make the most startling statements, leaving the seeker of truth to imbibe them and be lifted from illusion into the blazing light of Knowledge. Published by Advaita Ashrama, a publication house of Ramakrishna Math, Belur Math, India.

Avadhöta Gita by Anonim Pdf

Thus Avadhutopanishad mentions ‘That’ which is indestructible, worthy of seeking, free from the bondage of relative existence and the implied meaning of the Tattvamasi mahÂvÂkya. From this description, it is evident that the Avadhöta is none other than the Absolute non-dual Brahman. When this Reality manifests through the limitations of the paácakoïa-s without any influence and thereby expresses the divinity in its stark, naked, truthful expression; such a master is referred as Avadhöta. This being so, there cannot be any valid descriptions to fit our rational understanding of the Truth and its manifestations. Such incarnation of the Absolute is BhagawÂn DattÂtreya to whom this text is attributed.

One by Jerry Katz Pdf

This book compiles the most lively expressions of nonduality, which is the understanding that existence is one undivided whole and that the daily distinctions we make within this unity are useful, but not ultimately true. The book conveys what nonduality itself is, in a nonacademic style that draws heavily on modern, popular writing on the subject. Also included are spirited passages from major traditions--Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.

The Uddhava Gita by Anonim Pdf

Widely read, The Bhagavad Gita is a classic of world spirituality while The essential companion to The Bhagavad Gita, The Uddhava Gita has remained overlooked. This new accessible and only English translation in print of The Uddhava Gita offers a previously unexplored path to understanding Hinduism and Krishna’s wisdom. Written centuries apart, the ideas of the two dialogues are similar although their approach and contexts differ. The Bhagavad Gita is filled with the urgency of battle while The Uddhava Gita takes place on the eve of Krishna’s departure from the world. The Uddhava Gita offers the reader philosophy, sublime poetry, practical guidance, and, ultimately, hope for a more complete consciousness in which the life of the body better reflects the life of the spirit.

Ashtavakra Gita - The Heart of Awareness by Ashtavakra Pdf

The Ashtavakra Gita, or the Ashtavakra Samhita as it is sometimes called, is a very ancient Sanskrit text. Nothing seems to be known about the author, though tradition ascribes it to the sage Ashtavakra; hence the name. There is little doubt though that it is very old, probably dating back to the days of the classic Vedanta period. The Sanskrit style and the doctrine expressed would seem to warrant this assessment. The work was known, appreciated and quoted by Ramakrishna and his disciple Vivekananda, as well as by Ramana Maharshi, while Radhakrishnan always refers to it with great respect. Apart from that the work speaks for itself. It presents the traditional teachings of Advaita Vedanta with a clarity and power very rarely matched. The Reverend John Henry Richards, MA, BD, was an Anglican priest born in 1934 who was ordained a deacon in Llandaff in 1977 and a priest there in 1978. He served in Maesteg, Cardiff, Penmark, and Stackpile Elidor until his retirement in 1999, and died in 2017. He is known for his English translations of the Ashtavakra Gita, the Dhammapada, and the Vivekachudamani, which he put in the public domain and distributed on the Internet in 1994. The text used here is the one revised in 1996.

Avadhuta Gita by Janki Parikh Pdf

The Avadhuta Gita is a bold, audacious, blissful expression of Sage Dattatreya's direct experience of Advaitic (non-dualistic) self-realization, i.e. recognition of the Self (Atman) as God (Brahman). The sage calls himself an Avadhuta - one who has seen the truth of the Self-as-Brahman, as a consequence of which, the world has fallen away from him. He lives in bliss and laughs in bliss, with not even a scrap to call his own! He needs nothing from this world, because he is Brahman! He is ever-eternal, unchanging, ever-blissful, abundant, supreme, Absolute Reality! Immerse yourself into this beautiful song and taste the nectar of life lived as Brahman! There is no coming back from the Avadhuta's path of freedom and bliss!

Fasting the Mind by Jason Gregory Pdf

Combines cognitive psychology with Zen, Taoist, and Vedic practices to empty the mind • Explains how eliminating external stimulation can alleviate stress and anxiety for a calmer state of mind • Details meditation practices, such as open-awareness meditation, contemplation of Zen koans, and Vipassana meditation, and explores methods of digital detox • Draws on classical yoga, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Taoism as well as cognitive science to explain how and why to fast the mind Stop planning, stop comparing, stop competing, stop thinking, and just breathe deeply for a minute . . . Our undivided attention is something we are rarely able to give for reasons ranging from digital overload to the cultural conditioning of equating busyness with purpose. Just as you might choose a fast from eating to detoxify the body, the best way to overcome this modern mental overload is to periodically fast the mind. Drawing on the spiritual philosophies and meditative practices of classical yoga, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Taoism, Jason Gregory explains how fasting the mind directly impacts your habits and way of being in the world to create peace and calmness in your life as well as allow you to build a firm psychological defense against the increasing bombardment of distractions in our world. Applying psychology and cognitive science to samsara--the cycle of suffering created by our attachment to the impermanent--he explains how overreliance on the rational mind causes imbalances in the autonomic nervous system and suppresses our natural spontaneity, feelings, and intuition. When we are unable to relax the mind deeply, we enter a destabilizing state of stress and anxiety and are unable to liberate the true Self from the impermanence and limitations of the material world. Sharing Zen, Taoist, and Vedic practices to help you empty your mind and gradually restore your natural rhythms, the author shows how to give the mind time to truly relax from stimulation so it can repair itself and come back into equilibrium. He details simple meditation practices that are easy to implement in daily life, such as open-awareness meditation and contemplation of Zen koans, as well as the advanced techniques of Vipassana, a Theravadic Buddhist discipline centered on seclusion from all worldly stimuli. He also offers methods for digital detox and ensuring a good night’s sleep, a major support for healing cognitive impairment and restoring a state of equanimity. By fasting the mind we strip away the distractions and stresses of modern life and return to our original nature as it exists deep within. We become more consciously awake in every moment, allowing us to feel the real beauty of the world and, in turn, to live life more fully, authentically, and peacefully.
