Awakening the Spirit, Inspiring the Soul by Wayne Teasdale,Martha Howard Pdf

Many paths can lead to the Divine—these inspiring stories may help you clarify yours. These original spiritual mini-autobiographies showcase the varied ways that people come to faith—and what that means—in today's multi-religious world. Examining their own journeys from belief to disillusionment and from searching to discovery, contributors from many faiths, ages, and backgrounds tell how they learned to integrate the spirit into their daily lives, and the remarkable transformations that followed. From South Africa to India, Chicago to San Francisco, and many places in between, Awakening the Spirit, Inspiring the Soul is the first international collection of its kind. It takes you on a trip through the spiritual lives of Buddhists, Hindus, Christians, Muslims, Jews, and others who are continually searching to find their spiritual identity. Many of these brief, inspiring memoirs portray the spirit of interspirituality that is growing in the world today, showing you how to build the foundation for religion and spirituality that can serve to unite, rather than divide, humanity. "There is a thirst for authentic connection in our scattered, busy, speedy culture. Sharing deeply from the soul and being received with an open heart satisfies that thirst. Being seen and acknowledged cultivates the soil of our good hearts. That is what this beautiful book, and the integral spirituality it addresses so elegantly, is all about." —from the Foreword by Joan Borysenko, PhD

Everyday Soul by Bradford Keeney Pdf

"Considered one of the country's brightest teachers of psychotherapy, Dr. Keeney has been at the forefront of significant changes in the field over the past twenty years. His writings have been published throughout the world by academic presses, and he has worked at some of the most prestigious psychotherapy institutions in the United States. Seeking to offer people a viable alternative, Everyday Soul is the first truly ecumenical book that shows how to awaken our minds, bodies, and souls to the fire that burns within us." "The son of a minister, Dr. Keeney realized from an early age that the only way to achieve peace with himself was to discover his own spiritual path. He has spent years experiencing the teachings of holy men and women on the meaning of spiritual awareness, and has been initiated into the mystical practices of indigenous peoples of North and South America, as well as the Bushmen of the Kalahari. Dr Keeney is one of a handful of people who have been taught the all but extinct Japanese art of vital energy exchange by Osumi, Sen-sei. Offering experiences from his own life, Keeney skillfully incorporates these healing traditions into stories and practical exercises for creatively turning all the activities of your life - from sleep to relationships, from work to your movement through the world - toward cultivating a connection to the Divine, the Sacred, the Light."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. My Spiritual Awakening by Judith Dennis Pdf

This book is the mirror to my soul. It tells about how I felt when certain things came into my life. It also explains how I saw the things that God the Father created. It is a depiction of my feelings when I received the Spirit of the Lord and let Him lead me down the path of righteousness. I have been writing this book for over twenty years. It did not start out as a book, I first was just writing down my spiritual thoughts that the spirit told me to write in journals that I kept. The Spirit of the Lord would wake me from a sound sleep and through thoughts put these words into my head. My children are the ones who encouraged me to turn these writings into a book. I thought that was flattering and I considered doing so, but the spirit did not give me the go head until now. I guess He was not through telling me what to write. I kept reading my bible and going to church and getting closer and closer to my savior Jesus Christ. I literal fell in love with God the father and Jesus Christ the son. When I received the Holy Spirit I didnt know what was happening to me. I felt a burning sensation, as if I was on fire and I saw red when I closed my eyes. I went into a deep sleep and when I awaken in the morning I felt brand new. I wanted to pick up the bible and start reading what thus sayeth the Lord. That was the best feeling I have ever had, not even when I gave birth to my two children, did I feel that sensation. Getting to know God and feeling His spirit within you is the greatest feeling in the world. I was taught who God the father is and why Jesus was sent to die for us. I learned how to live a peaceful and joyous life and to keep them both in my sight, so that when I came to the light I could follow them. I was taught that I could receive eternal life, if I keep the faith, believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Confess that He died for my sins and turn from my wicked ways; be water baptized and spirit filled, than I would be saved. This is a wonderful feeling to have. I hope I give whoever reads this word inspiration to get to know the Father God and the son Jesus Christ the anointed one and let the spirit come in and have His will so that you too can experience the same feeling that I have.

Spiritual Manifestos by Niles Elliot Goldstein Pdf

Young spiritual leaders are beginning to remove the reasons why so many of us have kept religion at arm's length. "Spiritual sagacity does not belong only to seniors like Mother Teresa and Dorothy Day, Martin Buber and Abraham Joshua Heschel, the veteran Desmond Tutu and the aging Dalai Lama. Let's hear from a generation that is marked by new experiences." —from the Preface by Martin E. Marty By transforming our faith traditions in light of today's increasing diversity, the search for community, the Internet and our changing lifestyles, these young, visionary spiritual leaders are helping to create the new spirituality. Ten contributors, most in their mid-thirties, span the spectrum of religious traditions—Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, Unitarian, Buddhist—and offer their "visions," bold spiritual manifestos, for transforming our faith communities and our lives. Hear how one Catholic priest proclaims "all religion and spirituality ought to be zesty, passionate, rich and deep"; how one rabbi serves a "congregation" on the web for Microsoft and rides in squad cars on drug busts in New York City; how a self-described "Zen priest" is serving an Episcopal church in Alaska; and how a talented young woman lives her "wild and precious life" changing the world as a nun. These stories, and others, will challenge your assumptions about what religion is—and isn't.
