Conscious Union With God by Joel S. Goldsmith Pdf

If you think that there is some new truth to be learned humanly, you will be disappointed because there is not a single new truth in the entire world. The truth revealed in this book is not my truth or my message, but the word of God which has been imparting itself to universal consciousness throughout all time. That word of God is already embodied in your consciousness, and this truth, which is already your consciousness, is now being unveiled to you within you. Unless God is my consciousness, there will be no truth expressing itself through, or as, me; and, moreover, unless God is your consciousness, you will not understand the truth that is being presented. But, since God is universal consciousness and since God is my consciousness, truth is expressing itself as this book.

Saved by Grace by Anthony A. Hoekema Pdf

A comprehensive, dynamic, and eminently practical presentation of the biblical teaching on salvation. In discussing the facets of the working out of salvation -- the role of the Spirit, union with Christ, the gospel call, regeneration, conversion, repentance, and so on -- Hoekema does away with the classical ordo salutis ("order of salvation") by viewing these facets largely as simultaneous aspects in the process of salvation rather than sequential steps on the way to salvation.

Practicing Ministry in the Presence of God by John Jefferson Davis Pdf

Practicing Ministry in the Presence of God presents a new paradigm for church ministry--one that is based on fundamental truths of the Christian faith such as the Trinity, union with Christ, and the "already" presence of the Holy Spirit in the church. This new paradigm can help busy pastors avoid "burnout" in the ministry and model Trinitarian, New Testament patterns of ministry to their people. Practicing Ministry in the Presence of God reflects the best of recent New Testament scholarship, sensitivity to the contexts of globalized postmodern cultures dominated by digital media, and practical applications for Christian life, discipleship, worship, and mission.

Union with Christ by Lewis B. Smedes Pdf

This is a print on demand book and is therefore non- returnable. How can a person who lived nearly two thousand years ago radically change a human life here now? How can Jesus of Nazareth radically affect us, as persons, to the depths of our being? How can he reach out over the great span of time that divides us from him and change us so profoundly that we become "new creatures" in him? The answer, according to the Apostle Paul, lies in the fact that Jesus Christ enters into union with us. Lewis B. Smedes believes that union with Christ is at once the center and circumference of authentic human existence. Union with Christ is Smedes' probing and sustained exegetical study of what Paul means when he speaks of our being in Christ and Christ being in us. Hailed as "a thoughtful, discerning, and thoroughly scriptural study" when it was first published in 1970 under the title All Things Made New, the book has been greatly streamlined in this edition. By judiciously cutting away what now strikes him as "scholarly clutter," Smedes has produced a carefully condensed version of his earlier work while retaining its basic substance.

Unitive Awareness by Marshall Davis Pdf

In 2012 my life opened up into Unitive Awareness. These days it is often called nonduality. It is the fulfillment of the prayer Jesus offered on our behalf on the night before he died. In the Gospel of John Jesus prayed for his disciples in the first century. Then he said, "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one -- I in them and you in me -- so that they may be brought to complete unity." Other translators render this last phrase "perfectly one" or "completely one."Coming to know this oneness was the culmination of over forty years of spiritual investigation during my life. During those forty years there had been two previous openings to the Divine, three in all, spaced approximately twenty years apart. In each instance the separate, personal, human self dissolved into awareness that I experienced as union with God. The two initial openings were temporary. The first in 1973 lasted only a few minutes and the second in 1993 lasted months. But the third in 2012 has not ceased in the nine years since. It remains the ever-present substratum of living. At the time of this spiritual awakening I had recently been called to serve as the pastor of a community church in rural New Hampshire. As a pastor I attempted to preach in such a way as to bridge the gap between my experience and the experience of the people in my church who were under my spiritual charge. Upon my retirement from pastoral ministry in 2016, I was able to speak about unitive awareness more often and more directly. I did not have to address where people were spiritually; I could speak from where I was spiritually. Then in 2020 the coronavirus epidemic struck. It turned out to be a blessing for my ministry. The enforced seclusion of the pandemic gave me the time and opportunity to share my thoughts on the subject with a wider audience. I started a podcast called "The Tao of Christ" and a YouTube channel called "Christian Nonduality." In this setting I was able to explore in depth the nondual awareness that had become the fabric of life. Those who were interested could tune in; those who were not could tune out. I was able to explore how best to articulate Christian nonduality. For over a year I posted from one to three episodes per week. I began to hear from people from all around the world who resonated with what I had to say. Many listeners had left Christianity but had retained a belief that the teachings of Christ were still important and contained something more profound than the church taught. Others were Christians who had remained in the church but felt like outsiders. They struggled to remain faithful to a religion that did not proclaim Jesus' gospel of oneness with God. Others came from non-Christian backgrounds and were excited to learn that the truths that they knew were also taught by the Christ.Out of this year of podcasts and videos have emerged three books. The Gospel of Nonduality goes through the Gospel of John expounding the nondual teachings of Jesus. Biblical Nonduality reveals the nondual pointers in many famous stories and sayings in the Old and New Testament. This present book contains teachings on a variety of spiritual topics. They were originally broadcast as independent episodes, and therefore the reader will notice some overlap in the topics of discussion. This book is published in the hope that it will make the teachings of Christian Nonduality more widely available.

The Innate Capacity by Robert K. C. Forman Pdf

This book is the sequel to Robert Forman's well-received collection, The Problem of Pure Consciousness (Oxford, 1990). The essays in the earlier volume argued that some mystical experiences do not seem to be formed or shaped by the language system--a thesis that stands in sharp contradistinction to deconstruction in general and to the "constructivist" school of mysticism in particular, which holds that all mysticism is the product of a cultural and linguistic process. In The Innate Capacity, Forman and his colleagues put forward a hypothesis about the formative causes of these "pure consciousness" experiences. All of the contributors agree that mysticism is the result of an innate human capacity, rather than a learned, socially conditioned and constructive process. The innate capacity is understood in several different ways. Many perceive it as an expression of human consciousness per se, awareness itself. Some hold that consciousness should be understood as a built-in link to some hidden, transcendent aspect of the world, and that a mystical experience is the experience of that inherent connectedness. Another thesis that appears frequently is that mystics realize this innate capacity through a process of releasing the hold of the ego and the conceptual system. The contributors here look at mystical experience as it is manifested in a variety of religious and cultural settings, including Hindu Yoga, Buddhism, Sufism, and medieval Christianity. Taken together, the essays constitute an important contribution to the ongoing debate about the nature of human consciousness and mystical experience and its relation to the social and cultural contexts in which it appears.

Love's Oneing by Kerrie Hide Pdf

Grounded in Christian love mysticism, Love’s Oneing gives voice to the luminous consciousness that awakens from within our oneness in God in contemplation. With great sensitivity, the book offers nuanced insight into the marriage of kenosis and desire in contemplation, through the rich tapestry of writings from nine mystics: Julian of Norwich, the Cloud of Unknowing author, Meister Eckhart, Mechthild of Magdeburg, Clare of Assisi, John of the Cross, Teilhard de Chardin, Beatrice Bruteau and Ilia Delio. With the delicate eye of a spiritual director immersed in mystical literature, Kerrie Hide situates these mystical teachings within contemplative prayer, whilst offering a scholarly exploration of contemplative practice to embody the insights. Deeply grounded in traditional and contemporary mystical classics, Hide celebrates how the Christian mystical tradition lays a foundation for the evolutionary growth of communion consciousness and the insights of quantum science, highlighting key moments in contemplation that when surrendered into, open into divine love. Born of intellectual reflection, lived experience and contemplative wisdom, Love’s Oneing makes a unique contribution to the existing literature on contemplation at a time when the recovery of the mystical dimension of life is crucial for the future of our planet in this climate crisis moment.

The Signature of Jesus by Brennan Manning Pdf

The Signature of Jesus challenges the gospel of "cheap grace" and calls the church to radical discipleship. With passion and boldness, author Brennan Manning invites readers to risk living life as Jesus lived—committed to simplicity, purity of heart, and obedience to the gospel. As a radical alternative this book is offered to Christians who want to live by faith and not by mere “religion,” for those who recognize that many of the burning theological issues in the church today are neither burning nor theological; who see Christianity neither as a moral code or a belief system but as a love affair; who have not forgotten that they are followers of a crucified Christ; who know that following him means living dangerously; who want to live the gospel without compromise; who have no greater desire than to have his signature written on the pages of their lives. “Behold,” Jesus proclaims, “I stand at the door and knock.” You may have already met him at the door…but do you truly know him? Have you been transformed by His furious, passionate, unexplainable love? Join Brennan Manning, the bestselling author of The Ragamuffin Gospel, on a personal journey to experience Christ’s love and live with His passion.

Into the Silent Land by Martin Laird Pdf

Sitting in stillness, the practice of meditation, and the cultivation of awareness are commonly thought to be the preserves of Hindus and Buddhists. Martin Laird shows that the Christian tradition of contemplation has its own refined teachings on using a prayer word to focus the mind, working with the breath to cultivate stillness, and the practice of inner vigilance or awareness. But this book is not a mere historical survey of these teachings. In Into the Silent Land, we see the ancient wisdom of both the Christian East and West brought sharply to bear on the modern-day longing for radical openness to God in the depths of the heart. Laird's book is not like the many presentations for beginners. While useful for those just starting out, this book serves especially as a guide for those who desire to journey yet deeper into the silence of God. The heart of the book focuses on negotiating key moments of struggle on the contemplative path, when the whirlwind of distractions or the brick wall of boredom makes it difficult to continue. Laird shows that these inner struggles, even wounds, that any person of prayer must face, are like riddles, trying to draw out of us our own inner silence. Ultimately Laird shows how the wounds we loathe become vehicles of the healing silence we seek, beyond technique and achievement. Throughout the language is fresh, direct, and focused on real-life examples of people whose lives are incomparably enriched by the practice of contemplation.
