Baba’s Bites by Matthew Teague Pdf

Baba’s Bites is a passion project by siblings Matthew and Rebecca Teague. Born in Cardiff, Wales and having spent a lifetime immersed in the world-city of Hong Kong, they have both been heavily influenced by global culture and cuisine, taking particular interest in the food and wisdom of India. With backgrounds in therapy, energetics and food, Matthew and Rebecca are Ayurvedic and Yoga Lifestyle Consultants, but moreover enthusiasts for life and creatives at heart. Their vision is to create a cookbook that fuses the ancient Indian healing wisdom of Ayurveda with a modern approach to plant-based eating. This is a crossover they feel can work wonders as an aid for people on their journeys to lessening their environmental footprint, reducing their toxic burdens, and facilitating the healing of the all-too-common gut-related illnesses that take root in imbalanced diet and lifestyle. The recipes in themselves contain only natural ingredients and are fully free of preservatives, additives and other nasties. Hand-made and designed as a sketchbook, the book’s beautifully drawn illustrations are works of art in themselves. The book includes an accessible yet informative introduction to Ayurveda, designed as an entry for those just venturing out into the subject. Otherwise, the book in itself is a wonderful little addition to any kitchen, with its unique and easy-to-follow recipes. Baba’s Bites is packed full of useful ‘bite-sized’ guidance on how to create and maintain a healthy being, with the well-being of our planet in mind.

Circa by Devi S. Laskar Pdf

For fans of The Burning Girl by Claire Messud and Burnt Sugar by Avni Doshi, a stunning, gut-punch of a novel that follows a young Indian American woman who, in the wake of tragedy, must navigate her family's expectations as she grapples with a complicated love and loss. On the cusp of her eighteenth birthday, Heera and her best friends, siblings Marie and Marco, tease the fun out of life in Raleigh, North Carolina, with acts of rebellion and delinquency. They paint the town’s water towers with red anarchy symbols and hang out at the local bus station to pickpocket money for their Great Escape to New York. But no matter how much Heera defies her strict upbringing, she’s always avoided any real danger—until one devastating night changes everything. In its wake, Marco reinvents himself as Crash and spends his days womanizing and burning through a string of jobs. Meanwhile, Heera’s dream to go to college in New York is suddenly upended. Over the years, Heera’s and Crash’s paths cross and recross on a journey of dreams, desires, jealousies, and betrayals. Heart-wrenching, darkly funny, and buoyed by gorgeous prose, Circa is at once an irresistible love story and a portrait of a young woman torn between duty and her own survival, between obligation and freedom.

The Melghat Trail by Prakash Thosre Pdf

Gripping encounters with wildlife is the heart and soul of the book. Such thrilling situations include a dozen wild boars congregating just a few feet away from the author, a leopard crouching at hand-shaking distance under his machaan, a leopard killing a bullock very near the author’s bed, a loner gaur about to stamp on him while he was sleeping out, a visit to a tiger’s den, following a tiger on foot, a ferocious charge by a sloth bear, the ruthless whistling hunters on a kill, and so on. The frustration of not sighting the Melghat tiger for one and half years after joining as the field director, Melghat Tiger Project, followed by the joy of sighting the elusive Melghat tiger, are described in the stories. During his journey through Melghat, the author met a variety of his unsung heroes, for whom sufficient space is given. There are funny situations judiciously sprinkled across too—a man on the upper branch, a tiger on the middle branch, and wild dogs surrounding the tree; a nightjar landing on the body of a VIP, tipsy animals and bears. It’s a comprehensive treat.

Hard Ticks (Acari: Ixodida: Ixodidae) Parasitizing Humans by Alberto A. Guglielmone,Richard G. Robbins Pdf

Ticks of the family Ixodidae, commonly known as hard ticks, occur worldwide and are second only to mosquitoes as vectors of agents pathogenic to humans. Of the 729 currently recognized hard tick species, 283 (39%) have been implicated as human parasites, but the literature on these species is both immense and scattered, with the result that health professionals are often unable to determine whether a particular tick specimen, once identified, represents a species that is an actual or potential threat to its human host. In this book, two leading tick specialists provide a list of the species of Ixodidae that have been reported to feed on humans, with emphasis on their geographical distribution, principal hosts, and the tick life history stages associated with human parasitism. Also included is a discussion of 21 ixodid species that, while having been found on humans, are either not known to have actually fed or may have been misidentified. Additionally, 107 tick names that have appeared in papers on tick parasitism of humans, and that might easily confuse non-taxonomists, are shown to be invalid under the rules of zoological nomenclature. Although the species of ticks that attack humans have long attracted the attention of researchers, few comprehensive studies of these species have been attempted. By gleaning and analyzing the results of over 1,100 scientific papers published worldwide, the authors have provided an invaluable survey of hard tick parasitism that is unprecedented in its scope and detail.

Thirst by Shree Ghatage Pdf

The gorgeous, poignant new novel about unexpected love within an arranged marriage in mid-century India, by the award-winning author of Brahma's Dream. Thirst is about many forms of desire--and most particularly, at its heart, about love unexpectedly found and lost during a difficult time (WWII) and in an unlikely spot: within a hastily arranged union between two young people who begin their marriage as complete strangers. The lovers are Vasanti, an intelligent woman who has nonetheless grown up naive and protected; and Baba, the scion of a prominent Brahmin family who longs to study in London, thus escaping the family compound in Nagpur. The novel moves between the lushness of India and the sombre grayness of London during the Blitz, even as Ghatage brilliantly unwinds the story of two conflicted people who, slowly but surely, learn to tolerate, then like, then passionately love each other just as their worlds fall apart.

Red Twilight by Dustin Feyder Pdf

The award-winning author returns for the fourth story in the Red Twilight saga. The king of Tamriel outstretches his arm; the cosmos crumble in his wake. A mouse-folk spiritualist stands to protect her homeJessica the Weaver. But even as the rapture dawns on the people of Graywall, sickness spreads and death hangs heavy in the air. Selfish kings harden their hearts and stand in opposition to this emissary of mercy. With Mather Corn by her side, two mothers must take up arms to protect their homes from the rampaging of hungry gods. I can be as kind or a cruel as you would like me to be. But why should the master of creation be anything shy of desirable? I look as I do because I want to be loved and therefore must be something worthy of a dream, whatever the dream of the day happens to be your next question of me would be and what function does the creator serve to the created? to that one must ask themselves what would one wish of their betters? When we look to ourselves, do we find that it is more desirable to serve a malevolent king or a neglectful one? For a cruel king is a predictable one, anger lures hate, hate lures judgment, love inspires mercy, but to be neglected leads only to empty promises with or without prayer. But even uncaring is worthwhile over absences. A vengeful king may still reword one that brings him plusher, and that is just what I am. I find you amusing. -Cravixs

The Hard Ticks of the World by Alberto A. Guglielmone,Richard G. Robbins,Dmitry A. Apanaskevich,Trevor N. Petney,Agustín Estrada-Peña,Ivan G. Horak Pdf

This book has been designed to summarize current, essential information for every one of the world’s 700+ hard tick species. Under each species name, we will cite the original description, followed by information on type depositories, known stages, distribution (by zoogeographic region and ecoregion), hosts, and human infestation (if any). Each species account will also include a list of salient references and, where necessary, remarks on systematic status. We envision eight chapters: six devoted to the major ixodid tick genera (Amblyomma, Dermacentor, Haemaphysalis, Hyalomma, Ixodes, Rhipicephalus), one covering eight minor genera (including two that are fossil), and a concluding summary chapter. There will be two tables on host associations and zoogeography in each major genus chapter, as well as five tables in the summary chapter, for a total of 17 tables. No similar synopsis of the world’s hard tick species exists in any language.
