KC Music by Emily Ashcroft Pdf

Success in Country Music doesn’t come easy. Having talent is only the beginning. Patience, persistence, temperament, and tenacity are all required, and sometimes getting just the right break. Kyle Clifford (KC) Brooks is a musician in his mid-20s working hard to make his way in the Nashville music scene. His love of music began at an early age with the piano and guitar but quickly grew to the banjo, then violin, accordion, cello, and any other instrument he picked up. Throughout his life, being of small stature, even petite, he was often teased that his looks were wasted on a boy, he was too pretty to be a boy, or how many girls were jealous of his cute looks. While he sometimes struggled with the comments, he did not let them slow down his pursuit of his music. Katherine Christine (KC) Brooks is a country music musician from Austin who has just had her big break, and her career is beginning to take off. Releasing songs she wrote, and performing copies of other classics, she is off and running on her first tour. The last stop on her tour is in Nashville where a local radio station is running a KC Brooks lookalike contest inviting local musicians to submit a video of them singing one of her songs. When his sister dares him, along with support from his family, Kyle (KC) agrees to enter the radio station contest. The radio stations reaction is to say they believe the audition video is too good, could be a fraud, and they demand a meeting. Imagine their surprise when not only does he attend the meeting, but they find out he is a guy. Eventually, Kyle’s entry stands, he does win the contest, and is invited to meet Katherine (KC) before her Nashville show. A relationship develops, they write songs, create music, and build a successful career, but it is not without conflict and barriers. But together, they fight their way through it all to a very happy ending. It’s Serendipity.

Louisiana Place Names of Indian Origin by William A. Read Pdf

His writings spanned five decades and have been instrumental across a wide range of academic disciplines. Most importantly, Read devoted a good portion of his research to the meaning of place names in the southeastern United States—especially as they related to Indian word adoption by Europeans. This volume includes his three Louisiana articles combined: Louisiana: Louisiana Place-Names of Indian Origin (1927), More Indian Place-Names in Louisiana (1928), and Indian Words (1931). Joining Alabama's reprint of Indian Places Names in Alabama and Florida Place Names of Indian Origin and Seminole Personal Names, this volume completes the republication of the southern place name writings of William A. Read.

Louisiana Place Names by Clare D’Artois Leeper Pdf

From Aansel to Zwolle, with Mamou in between, researcher Clare D'Artois Leeper offers an alphabet of Louisiana place names, both past and present. Leeper includes 893 entries that reveal a distinct view of the state's history. Her unique blend of documented fact and traditional wisdom results in an entertaining guide to Louisiana's place name lore. Leeper considers the origins of each place as well as each name, drawing attention to the individuals who transformed Louisiana from an uninhabited wilderness into a populated state. Not surprising for a region that has existed under ten flags, Louisiana's place names reflect a mixture of several languages and point to other locales across the country and around the world. Even the state's name, Leeper points out, combines the French Louis and the Spanish iana, meaning "belonging to" Louis XIV. Name origins trace back to geography, flora, fauna, religion, weather, people, and occasionally, a flood, a favorite book, or a popular local dish. Leeper conducted numerous interviews, visited courthouses, museums, and libraries, and more recently made use of the Geographic Names Information System to create this fascinating collection of Louisiana history and folklore.

Sunrise Surrender by Vivian Vaughan Pdf

A swashbuckling outlaw and a spirited young woman play a dangerous game of cat and mouse on the Mississippi River in this romance from “a superb writer” (RT Book Reviews). Mississippi River, 1879. Delta Jarrett is desperate to end the recurring dreams that haunt her: disturbing, passionate dreams about her ancestor, pirate Anne Bonny, and Anne’s lover, Calico Jack. In need of distraction, Delta agrees to serve as a reporter for her brother-in-law Hollis’s newspaper, the St. Louis Sun. She’ll cover stories onboard a Louisiana showboat, the Mississippi Princess, at each port of call as it makes its way to New Orleans. Brett Reall, on the run from a murder he did not commit, is back in the bayous of Louisiana after a decade, disguised and on the lookout for bounty hunters and the law. His enemies could be anywhere, but after boarding the Mississippi Princess, he has a new fear: that his unquenchable desire for Delta will put her in harm’s way. Delta can sense the danger that surrounds Brett, but her vivid dreams and growing love for this real-life pirate only draw her closer to him—and to disaster. “A compelling romance that incorporates all the mystery, adventure, and passion of a historical novel with a fresh approach—the perfect tale for the reader who craves a hint of the unusual within a love story.” —RT Book Reviews
