Be a Beacon of Hope in the World by John Aduma Pdf

Why does one youngster stab another with a knife which they will never, ever dare to stab themselves with? Why are our young people killing themselves without thinking of the pains and sorrow such barbarism and bestiality will leave their loved ones with for the rest of their lives? Why do some young persons—members of the same community—prey on one another with such jungle-like ferocity in the nation’s cities? Why are there now so many of such gruesome, purposeless, wicked and unwarranted killings in the nation’s cities as if Britain is now a land that devours its children? More worrisome is the fact that when they are hacked to death so young, what happens to their dreams, visions, goals and aspirations? Heart-rending as these painful questions are, Be a Beacon of Hope in the World: A Message to Young Britain does not attempt to offer answers to these puzzles arising from the untimely deaths of Britain’s children through knifings. However, it seeks to act as a guidepost, compass and a Sat Nav to point young persons in the right direction and on the path of civility, decency, common sense, humaneness and universal altruism, whereupon they are expected to have respect: for themselves, for others and for all of life’s forms. Therefore, let the alarm bell, which this book will trigger, warn all young persons in Britain and the world over that to live in the fast lane is to die young. Let this message reverberate through the vista of time.

The Sixth World of Men Vol. 1: A Beacon of Hope by Walter E. Mark Pdf

On the surface, the sixth world of men is a glorious world. It is a world of great technological advancement. It is a world that has been at peace for a hundred years. While the world known as Kosundo by its inhabitants goes about its usual business, an ancient prophesy ominously predicts that the time of the soulless has come. Then, a mysterious man lurks about a secret city. A forgotten miscreation is plotting revenge. An emperor is going mad. A terrible weapon threatens to wreak destruction. And finally, a being of absolute evil is planning to make the world his own. But a prophet reveals a beacon of hope and tells of choices that need to be made. Each choice will determine whether another beacon of hope shines forth or if the darkness of evil prevails. A Beacon of Hope is the first book in The Sixth World of Men series.

Paris Climate Agreement: Beacon of Hope by Ross J. Salawitch,Timothy P. Canty,Austin P. Hope,Walter R. Tribett,Brian F. Bennett Pdf

This book is open access under a CC BY 4.0 license. This volume presents an Empirical Model of Global Climate developed by the authors and uses that model to show that global warming will likely remain below 2oC, relative to preindustrial, throughout this century provided: a) both the unconditional and conditional Paris INDC commitments are followed; b) the emission reductions needed to achieve the Paris INDCs are carried forward to 2060 and beyond. The first section of the book provides a short overview of Earth’s climate system, describing and contrasting climatic changes throughout the planet’s history and anthropogenic changes post-Industrial Revolution. The second section describes the climate model developed by the authors (Canty et al., Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2013) and contrasts the model with climate models used in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 2013 Report. Chapter 3 examines both the unconditional (i.e., firm commitments) and conditional Paris INDCs (commitments contingent on financial flow and/or technology transfer) through the lens of their climate model and concludes that if all of the Paris INDCs are followed, then they are indeed a beacon of hope for Earth’s climate. The fourth part of the book offers a perspective of energy needs and subsequent emissions reductions required to meet the Paris temperature goals, illuminating challenges faced both in the developing world and the developed world. Throughout the book, easy-to-understand charts and graphics illustrate concepts. The scientific basis of Chapters 2 and 3 was first presented in a keynote session of the 96th Annual Meeting of the American Meteorological Society in January, 2016.

ASEAN Miracle by Kishore Mahbubani Pdf

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations is a miracle. Why?In an era of growing cultural pessimism, many thoughtful individuals believe that different civilisations-especially Islam and the West-cannot live together in peace. The ten countries of ASEAN provide a thriving counter-example of civilizational co-existence. Here 625m people live together in peace. This miracle was delivered by ASEAN.In an era of growing economic pessimism, where many young people believe that their lives will get worse in coming decades, Southeast Asia bubbles with optimism. In an era where many thinkers predict rising geopolitical competition and tension, ASEAN regularly brings together all the world's great powers.Stories of peace are told less frequently than stories of conflict and war. ASEAN's imperfections make better headlines than its achievements. But in the hands of thinker and writer Kishore Mahbubani, the good news story is also a provocation and a challenge to the rest of the world. This excellent book explains, in clear and simple terms, how and why ASEAN has become one of the most successful regional organizations in the world. - George YeoA powerful and passionate account of how, against all odds, ASEAN transformed the region and why Asia and the world need it even more today. - Amitav Acharya

The Triumph of Hope by Hope Etim Pdf

In the small, vibrant city of Port Harcourt, nestled along the banks of the Bonny River, a young boy named Hope Etim gazed out at the world with wide, curious eyes. His heart was filled with innocence and wonder, unaware of the challenges and hardships that lay ahead. Hope was just a child when he lost his father, a tragedy that would shape the course of his life and propel him on a journey of triumph against all odds. Hope's mother, Ruth, was a pillar of strength and resilience. As a single mother, she bore the weight of providing for her son and nurturing his dreams. Despite their meager means, Ruth instilled in Hope a deep-rooted belief that he was destined for greatness, that he had the power to rise above their circumstances and create a better future. The loss of his father at such a tender age left a void in Hope's heart-a void that could only be filled with the unwavering love and guidance of his mother. Ruth worked tirelessly, taking on multiple jobs to ensure that her son had a roof over his head, food on the table, and the opportunity to receive an education. She sacrificed her own dreams and aspirations, pouring all her love and resources into giving Hope the chance to succeed. Growing up in a humble home, Hope witnessed the struggles and hardships faced by his mother and the countless other families in their community. The harsh realities of poverty and inequality were starkly apparent, but Hope refused to let despair consume him. Instead, he embraced his mother's teachings of hope, perseverance, and the power of education. As Hope entered the halls of school, he discovered a thirst for knowledge that burned within him. Despite the lack of resources and proper infrastructure, he devoured every book he could get his hands on, immersing himself in a world of imagination and possibility. With each passing day, his dreams grew bolder, his aspirations reaching far beyond the boundaries of his humble surroundings.

Barack Obama and the Rhetoric of Hope by Mark S. Ferrara Pdf

The historical and literary antecedents of the President's campaign rhetoric can be traced to the utopian traditions of the Western world. The "rhetoric of hope" is a form of political discourse characterized by a forward-looking vision of social progress brought about by collective effort and adherence to shared values (including discipline, temperance, a strong work ethic, self-reliance and service to the community). By combining his own personal story (as the biracial son of a white mother from Kansas and a black father from Kenya) with national mythologies like the American Dream, Obama creates a persona that embodies the moral values and cultural mythos of his implied audience. In doing so, he draws upon the Classical world, Judeo-Christianity, the European Enlightenment, the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights, the presidencies of Jefferson, Lincoln, and FDR, slave narratives, the Black church, the civil rights movement and even popular culture.

Forbidden Love by Ireland Lorelei Pdf

Sarandiel was a beautiful and powerful angel who had always followed the rules of the gods. But when she met Adrian, a human male, everything changed. She was drawn to his kindness, his strength, and his unwavering devotion to his beliefs. Despite the warnings of her fellow angels, Sarandiel couldn't resist spending time with Adrian. They talked for hours about their hopes and dreams, and she found herself falling deeper and deeper in love with him. But their love was forbidden by the gods. Angels were not allowed to fall in love with humans, and if they did, they would be banished from heaven forever. Sarandiel knew the risks, but she couldn't bear the thought of living without Adrian. As their love grew stronger, so did the danger. The other angels became suspicious of Sarandiel's behavior, and they began to watch her closely. One day, they caught her and Adrian together and reported them to the gods. The gods were furious at Sarandiel's disobedience, and they banished her from heaven. Sarandiel was heartbroken, but she knew that she couldn't deny her love for Adrian. She chose to leave behind her life as an angel and live among the humans with him. Their love was still forbidden, but Sarandiel and Adrian were willing to risk everything to be together. They faced many challenges along the way, but their love remained strong. As time passed, Sarandiel began to feel a sense of peace in her new life with Adrian. She missed her fellow angels and the beauty of heaven, but she knew that she had made the right choice. She had chosen love over duty, and she would never regret it. Sarandiel and Adrian's love story became legendary among the humans and the angels alike. Even though their love was against the rules of the gods, it had proven to be the most powerful force in the universe.
