Beethoven's Wig - Fun And Easy Piano by Beethoven's Wig,Richard Perlmutter Pdf

Inspired and wildly imaginative, "Beethoven's Wig - Fun and Easy Piano" contains zany, stick-in-your-head lyrics set to easy piano works as originally written by the world's greatest composers, including Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Brahms, Haydn, Schubert, Schumann, Tchaikovsky, Bartok, Stravinsky, and Brahms. Written by Richard Perlmutter, each song is filled with fact and fancy about the composers and their music opening a door to serious music that's fun. Piano teachers often tell their students they should sing the instrumental pieces they play to improve their performance. This forces students to interpret pieces lyrically. The witty and delightful songs in this collection provide an entertaining means to this end, and they are all set to popular repertoire for beginners and intermediate pianists. Beethoven's Wig is the creation of Richard Perlmutter, who is the lyricist, lead singer and producer of the group's five albums. Beethoven's Wig has toured North America and performed at arts centers and with symphony orchestras. The group's recordings have won 50 awards including including four GRAMMY Nominations. They have also won Parent's Choice Awards, Teacher's Choice Awards and been designated as "Notable Recordings" by the American Library Association. Sheet Music In This Collection Includes: Just For Elise (Fur Elise, Beethoven), My Little Chicken (Chopsticks, de Lulli), A Wrong Note (Ecossaise, Beethoven), The Mighty Piano Mover (KV 3, W.A. Mozart), Glinka was Succinct (Russian Polka, Glinka), The Pony Express (The Wild Rider Schumann), Russian Composers (Moderato, Stravinsky), By Hook or Crook (Allegretto, Hook), Thank Mozart's Dad (Notebook for Nannerl #2, L. Mozart), Repetition (Op 14 # 37, Kunz), Please Don't Feed The Pigeons (Ecossaise, Schubert), Cat and Mouse (German Dance, Haydn), Wear Your Crown (King Willam's March, Clark), No Pasta Today (Italian Song, Tchaikovsky), Pedal To The Metal (Gigue a l'angloise, Telemann), Renaissance Fair (The Morris, Byrd), Minuet For My Pet (Minuet In G, Beethoven), My Chicken Likes To Sing (Musette, J.S. Why Beethoven Threw the Stew by Steven Isserlis Pdf

In Why Beethoven Threw the Stew, renowned cellist Steven Isserlis sets out to pass on to children a wonderful gift given to him by his own cello teacher - the chance to people his own world with the great composers by getting to know them as friends. Witty and informative at the same time, Isserlis introduces us to six of his favourite composers: the sublime genius Bach, the quicksilver Mozart, Beethoven with his gruff humour, the shy Schumann, the prickly Brahms and that extraordinary split personality, Stravinsky. Isserlis brings the composers alive in an irresistible manner that can't fail to catch the attention of any child whose ear has been caught by any of the music described, or anyone entering the world of classical music for the first time. The lively black and white line illustrations provide a perfect accompaniment to the text, and make this book attractive and accessible for children to enjoy on their own or share with an adult.

The Life of Ludwig van Beethoven (Complete) by Alexander Wheelock Thayer Pdf

If for no other reasons than because of the long time and monumental patience expended upon its preparation, the vicissitudes through which it has passed and the varied and arduous labors bestowed upon it by the author and his editors, the history of Alexander Wheelock Thayer’s Life of Beethoven deserves to be set forth as an introduction to this work. His work it is, and his monument, though others have labored long and painstakingly upon it. There has been no considerable time since the middle of the last century when it has not occupied the minds of the author and those who have been associated with him in its creation. Between the conception of its plan and its execution there lies a period of more than two generations. Four men have labored zealously and affectionately upon its pages, and the fruits of more than four score men, stimulated to investigation by the first revelations made by the author, have been conserved in the ultimate form of the biography. It was seventeen years after Mr. Thayer entered upon what proved to be his life-task before he gave the first volume to the world—and then in a foreign tongue; it was thirteen more before the third volume came from the press. This volume, moreover, left the work unfinished, and thirty-two years more had to elapse before it was completed. When this was done the patient and self-sacrificing investigator was dead; he did not live to finish it himself nor to see it finished by his faithful collaborator of many years, Dr. Deiters; neither did he live to look upon a single printed page in the language in which he had written that portion of the work published in his lifetime. It was left for another hand to prepare the English edition of an American writer’s history of Germany’s greatest tone-poet, and to write its concluding chapters, as he believes, in the spirit of the original author. Under these circumstances there can be no vainglory in asserting that the appearance of this edition of Thayer’s Life of Beethoven deserves to be set down as a significant occurrence in musical history. In it is told for the first time in the language of the great biographer the true story of the man Beethoven—his history stripped of the silly sentimental romance with which early writers and their later imitators and copyists invested it so thickly that the real humanity, the humanliness, of the composer has never been presented to the world. In this biography there appears the veritable Beethoven set down in his true environment of men and things—the man as he actually was, the man as he himself, like Cromwell, asked to be shown for the information of posterity. It is doubtful if any other great man’s history has been so encrusted with fiction as Beethoven’s. Except Thayer’s, no biography of him has been written which presents him in his true light. The majority of the books which have been written of late years repeat many of the errors and falsehoods made current in the first books which were written about him. A great many of these errors and falsehoods are in the account of the composer’s last sickness and death, and were either inventions or exaggerations designed by their utterers to add pathos to a narrative which in unadorned truth is a hundredfold more pathetic than any tale of fiction could possibly be. Other errors have concealed the truth in the story of Beethoven’s guardianship of his nephew, his relations with his brothers, the origin and nature of his fatal illness, his dealings with his publishers and patrons, the generous attempt of the Philharmonic Society of London to extend help to him when upon his deathbed.

Beethoven: The Relentless Revolutionary by John Clubbe Pdf

A fascinating and in-depth exploration of how the Enlightenment, the French Revolution, and Napoleon shaped Beethoven’s political ideals and inspired his groundbreaking compositions. Beethoven imbibed Enlightenment and revolutionary ideas in his hometown of Bonn, where they were fervently discussed in cafés and at the university. Moving to Vienna at the age of twenty-one to study with Haydn, he gained renown as a brilliant pianist and innovative composer. In that conservative city, capital of the Hapsburg empire, authorities were ever watchful to curtail and punish overt displays of radical political views. Nevertheless, Beethoven avidly followed the meteoric rise of Napoleon. As Napoleon had made strides to liberate Europe from aristocratic oppression, so Beethoven desired to liberate humankind through music. He went beyond the musical forms of Haydn and Mozart, notably in the Eroica Symphony and his opera Fidelio, both inspired by the French Revolution and Napoleon. John Clubbe illuminates Beethoven as a lifelong revolutionary through his compositions, portraits, and writings, and by setting him alongside major cultural figures of the time—among them Schiller, Goethe, Byron, Chateaubriand, and Goya.

The Black Mozart by Walter E. Smith Pdf

Long before the word Super Star was coined, Saint-Georges was the original. Many people throughout history have been famous for one reason or another. Many have made great contributions to civilization and left great legacies. Their paintings and sculptures we still admire. Their discoveries have made our lives better; their music we still play and sing, but no one in history was as talented in so many areas as Saint-Georges. For a time, he was the greatest fencer in the world. He was an exceptional violinist and along with his teacher, Gossec, he pioneered the composition of the String Quartet. Even Mozart came to Paris to study this new form of music. Saint-Georges was an unequaled equestrian, an exceptional marksman and an elegant dancer. The wealthy copied the way he dressed, and the common people admired him as he walked through the streets, and whispered his name. He was a true Renaissance man and a super star in the Paris of King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. What is even more remarkable was the fact that he was a mulatto.
