Between Two Plenums by Ellis Joffe Pdf

The origins of the Cultural Revolution are still shrouded in uncertainty. Crucial questions either remain unanswered or have been given answers which derive from conflicting interpretations. To what period can the direct origins of the Cultural Revolution be traced? What issues, if any, divided the leadership, and how deep were these divisions? What was the state of power relations and what was Mao’s position? Why did developments in the period preceding the Cultural Revolution reach a climax in such a convulsion? Between Two Plenums examines these questions as they apply to the years 1959–1962. At base, the perspective of pre-Cultural Revolution politics adopted therein is that of “conflict” rather than “consensus.” From this vantage point, the Eighth and Tenth Plenums loom in retrospect as important watersheds in the development of the intraleadership conflict which culminated in the great upheaval.

The Effect of Plenum Volume on the Test Section Flow Characteristics of a Perforated Wall Transonic Tunnel by C. F. Anderson,A. Anderson,O. P. Credle Pdf

Tests were conducted in the Aerodynamic Wind Tunnel (1T) of the Propulsion Wind Tunnel Facility to determine the effects of test section plenum chamber volume on the centerline Mach number distributions, wave-cancellation properties of perforated walls, model force data, and tunnel acoustics at Mach numbers from 0.6 to 1.3. Results were obtained with plenum chambers of four different sizes at plenum-to-test section volume ratios between 8.3 and 0.8. Reducing plenum volume produced no measurable effect at Mach numbers below 0.95. At Mach numbers above 0.95, decreasing the plenum volume increased the internal plenum losses, increased the plenum suction requirements, and increased the centerline Mach number deviations; however, the Mach number deviations were small at Mach numbers below 1.15. Reducing the plenum volume also produced a small increase in the effective wall porosity but had no measurable effect on measured model forces except to increase the forebody drag coefficient at Mach numbers above 1.05. Changes in the plenum volume had no significant effect on tunnel acoustics. (Author).

PLENUM by Harlen Campbell Pdf

A sacrifice that altered the course of time Arthur Penn was a sucker for a lost cause. He rescued an old man from an ambush and carried him to a hospital, but he didn’t expect a one-way trip. He didn't expect to find himself fighting off an amorous girl a century before the Pilgrims land. And he certainly didn’t expect to be drafted into a bloody war raging across a thousand human centuries. Beautiful women. Brave men. Lonely machines. Terrifying aliens lost in a tunnel that connects every point in space and time. A ship that sails a universe so huge it can’t be described in human words. A lady who wants to be a mother. A true woman with a disturbing talent with an ax. All hang on courage of a hero who’d rather be in Chicago.

Computer Simulation Analysis of Biological and Agricultural Systems by Barney K. Huang Pdf

Computer Simulation Analysis of Biological and Agricultural Systems focuses on the integration of mathematical models and the dynamic simulation essential to system analysis, design, and synthesis. The book emphasizes the quantitative dynamic relationships between elements and system responses. Problems of various degrees of difficulty and complexity are discussed to illustrate methods of computer-aided design and analysis that can bridge the gap between theories and applications. These problems cover a wide variety of subjects in the biological and agricultural fields. Specific guidelines and practical methods for defining requirements, developing specifications, and integrating system modeling early in simulation development are included as well. Computer Simulation Analysis of Biological and Agricultural Systems is an excellent text and self-guide for agricultural engineers, agronomists, foresters, horticulturists, soil scientists, mechanical engineers, and computer simulators.

Soviet Strategies in Southeast Asia by Charles B. McLane Pdf

This study's main concern is with the growth of Communism within Burma, Thailand, Malaya, Indonesia, Indochina, and the Philippines. The author explores the origin and fate of these indigenous movements, their role in domestic politics and relationship to the metropolitan parties (in the case of colonial dependencies) and to the Soviet Union, and their success or failure under the conditions of independence. He also assesses the influence of Communist experience in China, the formation of Russian policy in Southeast Asia, and the policies of the domestic Communist parties. Originally published in 1966. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the original texts of these important books while presenting them in durable paperback and hardcover editions. The goal of the Princeton Legacy Library is to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly heritage found in the thousands of books published by Princeton University Press since its founding in 1905.

Analog Analysis of the Heave Response and Control of the Plenum-type Air-cushion Vehicle by Jack D. Leatherwood Pdf

An analytical investigation was conducted to determine the basic heave response characteristics of a plenum-type tracked air-cushion vehicle as a function of vehicle operating parameters. In addition to determining basic characteristics, the effect of an active lip control system on the vehicle dynamic response was investigated. Nonlinear equations describing the dynamic and thermodynamics tate of the air-cushion system were derived, and the response of the system to sinusoidal perturbations of the guideway was obtained with the use of an analog computer. Results are presented in terms of vehicle-to-guideway motions and vehicle accelerations experienced during fundamental and subharmonic oscillations.
