The Incomparable Guru Golwalkar by Ranga Hari Pdf

Time and history have proved that among the modern India's organisers of men and movements, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's Second Sarsanghchaalak Shri Guruji Golwalkar occupies a place in the topmost few. For more than three decades till his death, he, with no respite and rest, covered the entire length and breadth of this vast country on wheels, wings or legs with no unfortunate occasion to cancel any scheduled programme. Never in his life did he reach a programme late. With a diligent team as unfailing as himself, he built up the largest organisation of our times, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, with a very wide network. With an absolutely self-reliant structure and a unique working system evolved out of native genius, this organisation today is nothing short of a phenomenon; comparable only to itself. Any inquisitive mind, candid and unprejudiced, would like very much to delve deep into the lives of men who built up such a movement. In case of Shri Guruji, the attention is bound to be more compelling due to the fact that here was person maligned and cursed all through by the powers that be; but who, despite them, unflinchingly and relentlessly, paced towards his cherished goal. Golwalkar was truly 'Goal Walker', come what may. This is a comprehensive, well referenced biography of spiritual and social stalwart Shri Guruji that will inspire and motivate millions.

Modi's India by Christophe Jaffrelot Pdf

A riveting account of how a popularly elected leader has steered the world's largest democracy toward authoritarianism and intolerance Over the past two decades, thanks to Narendra Modi, Hindu nationalism has been coupled with a form of national-populism that has ensured its success at the polls, first in Gujarat and then in India at large. Modi managed to seduce a substantial number of citizens by promising them development and polarizing the electorate along ethno-religious lines. Both facets of this national-populism found expression in a highly personalized political style as Modi related directly to the voters through all kinds of channels of communication in order to saturate the public space. Drawing on original interviews conducted across India, Christophe Jaffrelot shows how Modi's government has moved India toward a new form of democracy, an ethnic democracy that equates the majoritarian community with the nation and relegates Muslims and Christians to second-class citizens who are harassed by vigilante groups. He discusses how the promotion of Hindu nationalism has resulted in attacks against secularists, intellectuals, universities, and NGOs. Jaffrelot explains how the political system of India has acquired authoritarian features for other reasons, too. Eager to govern not only in New Delhi, but also in the states, the government has centralized power at the expense of federalism and undermined institutions that were part of the checks and balances, including India's Supreme Court. Modi's India is a sobering account of how a once-vibrant democracy can go wrong when a government backed by popular consent suppresses dissent while growing increasingly intolerant of ethnic and religious minorities.

Kashmir at the Crossroads by Sumantra Bose Pdf

An authoritative, fresh, and vividly written account of the Kashmir conflict—from 1947 to the present The India-Pakistan dispute over Kashmir is one of the world’s incendiary conflicts. Since 1990, at least 60,000 people have been killed—insurgents, civilians, and military and police personnel. In 2019, the conflict entered a dangerous new phase. India’s Hindu nationalist government, under Narendra Modi, repealed Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir’s autonomous status and divided it into two territories subject to New Delhi’s direct rule. The drastic move was accompanied by mass arrests and lengthy suspension of mobile and internet services. In this definitive account, Sumantra Bose examines the conflict in Kashmir from its origins to the present volatile juncture. He explores the global context of the current situation, including China’s growing role, as well as the human tragedy of the people caught in the bitter dispute. Drawing on three decades of field experience in Kashmir, Bose asks whether a compromise settlement is still possible given the ascendancy of Hindu nationalism in India and the complex geopolitical context.

Yoga Guru to Swadeshi Warrior by Sandeep Deo Pdf

'Can anyone imagine that a man with such a strong, continuous and unbroken will has been reaching out to the masses with the goal 'one life-one mission'. He has been travelling the country round the clock and has been meeting lakhs of people every-day and motivating them through yoga. If Baba Ramdev would have been in any other country then there would have been so many Universities that would have done PhD on his life history.' I had once asked Baba Ramdev that yoga gives energy, good-health and zeal but how does it help when you are surrounded with so many problems? 'Baba Ramdev had started his journey for the well being of this country's citizens through yoga, especially for the poor who were not able to afford medicines. After travelling for ten years across the country he noticed that it's not only the health of the citizens that needed attention but also the 'health of the country' so from then onwards he began to voice his concerns related to the dysfunctions of the nation. Baba Ramdev is such a personality who doesn't rest till he achieves his goals.'

THE FORGOTTEN HISTORY OF INDIA by Arun Anand Pdf

It was a court battle between the first Prime Minister of India Jawahar Lal Nehru and Organiser, an English weekly backed by the RSS that led to restrictions on freedom of expression which we are debating today. The RSS had defended the sacred Sikh Shrine ‘Darbar Sahib’ at Amritsar twice when Muslim League led mobs attacked it in 1947. Did you know that one single anti-India and pro-China book ‘India’s China War’ written by Anglo-Australian journalist Neville Maxwell shaped the global narrative against India for more than five decades. It was a Swedish journalist Bertil Lintner who challenged it and turned the tables on Chinese propaganda with his book ‘China’s India War’ but even Indians don’t talk about it. Everyone remembers the 1962 war when India lost to China but there was another war in 1967 on Sikkim border where India took the revenge of 1967 and defeated China. Most of us don’t even know about this great victory! Indians have been made to remember the 1962 defeat and forget the glorious victory of 1967. Many such stories which comprise the forgotten history of India are part of this book. This forgotten history of India has been buried deep down in the dusty archives waiting to be told.

RSS 360 by Ratan Sharda Pdf

Founded in 1925, banned three times by the governments of independent India but with a widespread network of thousands of local branches and millions of volunteers, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's (RSS) presence and influence is formidable. However, it has long been acknowledged that the best way to know the RSS is to join it. Perhaps, this is why there is very little literature on how it functions. As a senior member who has managed various responsibilities in the RSS over the years, Ratan Sharda reveals the supposedly secret world of this volunteer organisation. He presents a comprehensive view of the Sangh's philosophy, its workings and its humungous reach through various organisations inspired by it across India in a simple and easy-flowing manner, sprinkled with interesting anecdotes. With an insider's knowledge of the philosophy, organisational structure and working of this huge cadre-based organisation, RSS 360o is a compelling read, attempting to lift the alleged veil of secrecy that shrouds the organisation.

Biography of Hedgewar by Arun Anand Pdf

The RSS was founded by a medical doctor Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar. Born on Sunday, April 1, 1889, he started RSS at the age of around 36 years. The Hedgewar family originally hailed from Kandkurti village in Telangana. Near the village is the sacred confluence of Godavari, Vanjra and Haridra rivers. This confluence finds mention in several Indian sacred texts. The place also witnessed a confluence of three robust Indian languages – Kannada, Telugu and Marathi. At one time, the place was a hub of scholars. But to look out for better opportunities, many Brahmin families left the Telangana region. Many of them settled down in Nagpur as the Bhonsle Rulers were known to be patrons of Vedic learning.
