Blessed are You the Poor! by Joseph Wresinski Pdf

Joseph Wresinski was born in France, and grew up in great poverty. Ordained a priest in 1946, he served in industrial and rural parishes, where from the beginning he related to the most disadvantaged families. Wresinski's book -- revealing reading of the gospel through and with the very poor -- offers new insights into the life, words, actions, and prayers of Christ. We see how Jesus chooses the most humiliated and abandoned as his closest associates and messengers. Father Joseph's own encounter with Christ leads us to better understand the poorest people of today and recognize what they can bring to the world.

The Blessings of Poverty by Diane Boone Pdf

To being with, please understand that I do realize how paradoxical the title of this work may seem. In fact, I can hear the astonished question you may be asking just now: Povertya blessing! How can that be? Well, lets go to the dictionary and see if the definition of the word blessing can help answer that question. In Websters New Collegiate Dictionary we find the following entry next to the word blessing: a thing conducive to happiness or wellbeing. Most of us are so focused on the happiness part of the definition that we only see Gods hand of blessing when were happy; we forget that not everything conducive to our wellbeing makes us feel happy. Just as a loving parent will bless their child with both comforts and discipline, so God blesses us with both comforts and challenges. As I look at the lives of my family and myself, I can see how God has strengthened our walk with Him through our financial struggles. Because of this fact, I say with assurance that financial struggles can be used of the Lord to truly bless us. Next, I want to ask you to take my use of the word poverty with the proverbial grain of salt, as my intent is to use the term in a very tongue in cheek manner. Ive actually heard of individuals complaining because they have to choose between landscaping their newly built home or taking a second vacation this year; or lamenting the fact that times are so hard they have to cut their annual vacation to Hawaii from the usual four weeks to only two weeks. The truth is many, many people sharing our world would be ecstatic to have the standard of living that most of us are enjoying. So, viewed from their perspective, wouldnt it seem that if we have a roof over our heads, proper clothing to wear and eat three meals a day were doing pretty well for ourselves? Its also true that God has spread His children throughout the world in different cultures, with different gifts and with different incomes. There is nothing wrong with having a comfortable income or owning lovely things. And there is certainly nothing wrong with working hard to provide for your family. In fact, many Godly people mentioned in scripture had a great deal of wealth: Abraham, Isaac, Joseph, Job, King David and Joseph of Arimathia are just a few that spring to mind. There are also many Godly people mentioned in scripture who had very little wealth: Mary & Joseph, the beggar (Lazarus), the widow with her two mites, and our Lord, Himself. There is nothing inherently more spiritual with one state or the other. Those with wealth need to thank God most sincerely for what they do have and to beware of falling into the trap of pride (look at me and how successful Ive been!). And its been very interesting for me to realize that those with modest incomes also need to thank God most sincerely for what they do have and to beware of falling into the trap of pride (look at me - getting along on a small income must somehow make me more spiritual than the wealthy!). Did you know that when the Lord was on earth one of His most frequent topics of discussion was money? He never condemned wealth, He condemned the preoccupation with wealth and the belief that a persons worth or security comes from amassing huge amounts of wealth. Regardless of whether we have a large amount of this worlds goods or a small amount, it all belongs to God. We need to use whatever we do have to further Gods kingdom and honor Him by caring for our families and reaching out to those in need. And all of us need to embrace the truths found in Matthew 6:25-34 and find our security in the wonderful care of our loving Heavenly Father. I, myself, was raised in a Christian home by parents who were quite well off financially. I just never realized it until I was almost finished with high school. Im sure this is partly because Im not a very visual person, so I tended not to notice or compare things as much as others. But I really think that it wa

Blessed are the Poor? by Laurie Green Pdf

Listening intently to what the poor have to say is Laurie Green’s way into a new study of Jesus’ most famous Beatitude – Blessed are the Poor. Combining years of pavement level experience with informed biblical analysis he sets out for us how the perspective of the poor opens us up to new biblical and theological insights. These issue in a radical rethink about mission and what it means to be Church in a post-secular society. The book introduces us to Britain’s poorest housing estates and uses the radical edge of contextual theology to present a prophetic challenge to each one of us, and to a Church which is reluctant to respond seriously to the challenges of the Beatitudes.

The Blessing of Humility by Jerry Bridges Pdf

We all admire humility when we see it. But how do we practice it? How does humility--the foundational virtue of the normal Christian life--become a normal part of our everyday lives? Jerry Bridges sees in the Beatitudes a series of blessings from Jesus, a pattern for humility in action. Starting with poverty in spirit--an acknowledgment that in and of ourselves we are incapable of living holy lives pleasing to God--and proceeding through our mourning over personal sin, our hunger and thirst for righteousness, our experience of persecutions large and small, and more, we discover that humility is itself a blessing: At every turn, God is present to us, giving grace to the humble and lifting us up to blessing.

Blessings for Leaders by Dan R. Ebener Pdf

In Blessings for Leaders, Dan Ebener skillfully weaves an understanding of one of the most powerful and familiar Bible passages with insights drawn from his experience developing faith-filled leaders in churches and ministry organizations. Ebener reflects on how the paradoxes of leadership can be understood from a careful reflection on the Beatitudes: It takes wisdom, empathy, humility, justice, mercy, service, peace and courage to lead as a Christian. Each chapter begins with Scripture, reflects on the inward journey of leadership through the virtues associated with each Beatitude, and suggests how that might be extended outward in the challenges of leadership, such as mission, vision, core values, followership, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, communication and listening, team-building, meeting facilitation, innovation and dealing with change. Straight-forward, easy-to-read, and filled with illuminating stories, this book is ideal for individuals in search of greater insight or groups journeying to a deeper understanding of Jesus vision for leadership.

Blessings and Promises by Linda Wiley Pdf

The subject of this book was, basically, chosen for me by God. Have you ever felt called to do something about which you believe you know nothing? That is the way I felt when God called me told me to write a book. So I thought I would compromise and write a short "Devotional Style" book, printing a few copies myself for family members. Tell me, have you ever tried to argue with God? Trust me, you will never, no never win. Consequently, when I started writing, the words continued to flow and it became a book, albeit a very short book. My hope is that you may draw something from it that will be of help to you in your Christian walk with Jesus by your side.

Rock-Bottom Blessings by Karen Beattie Pdf

What does it mean to live an abundant life? Some might say living abundantly means living comfortably, having the family you always dreamed of, receiving accolades from your peers, in short—living a life that is commonly accepted by many as blessed. But what if having an abundant life is more than the “good life”? Can we actually be blessed in the midst of serious disappointments and setbacks? In Rock-Bottom Blessings, Karen Beattie makes the case that true abundance is found in the transformation that happens when we experience God’s presence during periods of grief, loss, and disappointment. With the help of her friends and her newfound Catholic faith, she learns to trust that God’s plan is better than hers. Beattie began to see life’s challenges as gifts to be accepted like all other gifts: with reverence and gratitude. Beattie’s story makes abundantly clear: it is the suffering, death, and resurrection of Christ (the paschal mystery) that can inspire us not only to find blessings in every season of our lives, but to be utterly transformed by God’s riches.

Blessed Are the Poor in Spirit by Evangelist John Henry Manigo Pdf

One book or three books: My main interesting is to help deaf, hard of hearing, hearing people understand the Word of God and to apply to their own life with God’s help. It also gives us as well to the hearing people who need encouragement, help and inspire in the Word of God and that the Word of God is for them to receive His Word by faith. My main reason of writing the Trinity to show the example of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit as one and believe that God is One. I also write Trinity for various reasons and put down Bible verses to help match the Old Testament and New Testament that speak the same thing to show them the Bible in fact is real. God’s Word is very real. I write the main points because I have heard in the past about their belief, their teaching, their faith in God, and I am willing to write down what they say and that the Bible has all the answer to our need and purpose. I have studied the Bible for forty-five years seeking answers and be abled to explain better from God’s teaching; from God’s Word. Whenever I hear people talk about their faith in God, I write down Bible verses to help inspire their life positive. It would help all of us to grow in grace through our Lord Jesus Christ. He has the answer to all of our problem, My main points is to help them know that they can be saved through Jesus Christ by faith in Him alone. Only Him shall we be saved. Be Blessed!!! Evangelist John H. Manigo I Corinthians 6:19-20
