Blinded by Good Intentions by Steve White Pdf

What are the keys to success in life? Simply trying hard and having great goals are not enough, says veteran corporate trainer Steve White. "Our best intentions can become our worst enemy when we are blind to why they are not working." White learned this the hard way. As a teen he vowed he'd avoid his parents' mistakes and become the best husband and father. But he failed to see that his efforts to control people and circumstances only condemned him to cycles of anger, misunderstandings, judgment and life failure. Surrounded by the pieces of his broken dreams, he opened himself to learn how God wanted to work through even these things for good. In this collection of personal stories and reflections, White shows how--if we believe and remember how deeply we are loved by God and what He wants for our lives--deep personal change to the good is truly experienced. Our new life in Him can then touch the people around us.

Blind Faith by Christiane Heggan Pdf

In her career, investigative reporter Kelly Robolo has seen it all. But when she gets a frantic call from an old friend, she embarks on an investigation that will put her to a test she's never faced before: survival. Jonathan Bowman, a loving husband and father, has disappeared, and his wife fears the worst. Was the high-ranking casino employee an innocent victim? Or had he been involved in something illegal—and murdered for it? When a charred body is discovered halfway across the country and identified as the missing man, Kelly suspects it's a setup. But the question is why? Philadelphia cop Nick McBride suspects the same thing, and believes there's a connection between the death of his own father—also a former employee of the casino—and Jonathan's disappearance. Reluctantly Kelly and Nick start to work together. But their suspicions are about to lure them into a desperate, dangerous game where blind faith leads straight into terror…and into the trap of a waiting killer.

The Blind Storyteller by Iris Berent Pdf

"Do newborns think-do they know that 'three' is greater than 'two'? Do they prefer 'right' to 'wrong'? What about emotions--do newborns recognize happiness or anger? If they do, then how are our inborn thoughts and feelings encoded in our bodies? Could they persist after we die? Going all the way back to ancient Greece, human nature and the mind-body link are the topics of age-old scholarly debates. But laypeople also have strong opinions about such matters. Most people believe, for example, that newborn babies don't know the difference between right and wrong-such knowledge, they insist, can only be learned. For emotions, they presume the opposite-that our capacity to feel fear, for example, is both inborn and embodied. These beliefs are stories we tell ourselves about what we know and who we are. They reflect and influence our understanding of ourselves and others and they guide every aspect of our lives. In a twist that could have come out of a Greek tragedy, Berent proposes that our errors are our fate. These mistakes emanate from the very principles that make our minds tick: our blindness to human nature is rooted in human nature itself. An intellectual journey that draws on philosophy, anthropology, linguistics, cognitive science, and Berent's own cutting-edge research, The Blind Storyteller grapples with a host of provocative questions, from why we are so infatuated with our brains to what happens when we die. The end result is a startling new perspective on our humanity."--

The Gospel according to John by John Peter Lange Pdf

Presented here, in paperback for the first time, is John Peter Lange's Theologischhomiletisches Bibelwerk. Intended to help preachers prepare sermons the commentary series is essentially biblical and evangelical catholic. This 19th century commentary has served as a standard reference for more than a century. Many early reviewers regarded Schaff's edition with his additional material as superior to the original. It has proven to be a complete and useful Commentary and continues to prove especially valuable to ministers. It contains critical annotations of the text and its translation, and a threefold commentary, exegetical, doctrinal, and homiletical. Under these three heads the text is viewed from every aspect.

Blind Faith by Edward Winslow Pdf

A financial consultant presents a simple yet revolutionary approach to managing investments safely and responsibly in today’s high-risk environment. The risk of investing in the stock market has increased remarkably in the past couple of decades. We've seen tremendous volatility in stock prices, market bubbles and devastating crashes, a parade of corporate scandals, and proven deception by many so-called investment analysts employed by major brokerage firms. In addition, the realities of ever-increasing geopolitical risks contribute to an uncertain economic future. Corporate America and the investment industry have little to gain and lots to lose when investors decide to stop playing by their rules. But with this simple guide, readers will be equipped with both the strategy and the tools for success in virtually any economic environment while ending their participation in a system that has taken full advantage of their blind faith and misplaced trust.

From Blind Obedience to a Responsible Faith by Donald F. Fausel Pdf

Author Donald F. Fausel was raised in the pre-Vatican II Catholic Church, when prescribed beliefs were rarely questioned and blind obedience to authority trumped following ones conscience. Through a process of developing an informed conscience and learning to think critically, his journey led him to a more responsible faith, while remaining in his Catholic tradition. This memoir recalls Fausels life experiences, his reflections on those events, and how they affected his spiritual journeyfrom his birth in 1929; his formative years; his life in the seminary and ordination in 1957; his nine years in the active ministry, ending with a dispensation from the Vatican in 1972; and his continued journey as a married Catholic. Fausel reflects on a range of faith-related issues: the differences between faith and beliefs; abortion and artificial birth control; the doctrine of infallibility; the danger of relying solely on the magisterium; the charism of celibacy and mandatory celibacy; the place of women in the church and the ordination of women; and the effect of the new cosmology on our image of God. Not only does Fausels memoir frame the events that shaped his life, but provides reflections to help others in their faith journey.

The Blind Need Not Apply by Ronald J. Ferguson Pdf

This book has been a work in progress. In the spring of 2000 I started this project and began to collect data and conduct interviews. I copied every article I could find in the Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness and its predecessors Outlook for the Blind and New Outlook for the Blind. I was fortunate to locate Blindness the annual publication of the American Association of Workers for the Blind. One of the greatest finds was the library at the American Foundation for the Blind. The library contains dozens of volumes related to orientation and mobility. Within two years I had amassed a considerable collection of resources. I began working through the materials and along the way prepared some papers for various conferences. A dramatic increase in administrative responsibilities, as well as the tyranny of meeting grant deadlines, diverted me from giving concentrated effort to this book. All that changed as I reduced my workload in order to devote almost all my efforts over the past nine months to this project.
