For some investigations, you get nowhere relying on police. When the supernatural rears its head in Miami, the sleuthing's usually up to me, Cisco Suarez, resident necromancer and all-around hard case. All I ask is to kick back in paradise once in a while, spend some quality time with my girl, and maybe even find that special moment to pop the question. But life doesn't always play fair, and neither do monsters. Turns out, old grudges die hard. So come after me. Maybe I deserve it. But going after my family crosses the line. It's time to stop playing the sitting duck. It's time to start a hunt of my own. Dressed to the nines and undercover at a silvan wedding, I'll delve into the literal underworld to make the monsters wish they'd never messed with Cisco Suarez. And hey, if I'm really lucky, maybe she'll say yes. If you like Jim Butcher, Shayne Silvers, Steve McHugh, or John Conroe, then you are going to love Domino Finn's contribution to the smart-talking MC that's perpetually stuck between a rock and a hard place. What readers are saying: ⚡⚡ "Black Magic Outlaw is a standout in a world of lookalikes." ⚡⚡ ⚡⚡ "Cisco is a tattooed, necromancing, shadow-morphing, 'Live and Let Die' meets Jack Reacher kind of guy... only better." ⚡⚡ ⚡⚡ "Urban fantasy just went up a notch." ⚡⚡ ⚡⚡ "The magic is far more imaginative than anything I have read since Sanderson." ⚡⚡ ⚡⚡ "A quantum leap in storytelling." ⚡⚡ ⚡⚡ "Cisco is the kind of character you can't help cheering for, with a mix of boyish charm, a dash of arrogance, but always the bighearted underdog." ⚡⚡ ⚡⚡ "Action junkies will love this series." ⚡⚡ ⚡⚡ "Enough dead bodies, zombies, and wizards to fill a small stadium." ⚡⚡ ⚡⚡ "Jason Bourne meets urban fantasy. Good pace, engaging lead, and fresh mythology. Loved it." ⚡⚡ ⚡⚡ "What a great path of destruction Cisco leaves..." ⚡⚡

The Sorcerers' Plague by David B. Coe Pdf

David B. Coe enthralled readers and critics with his Winds of the Forelands, an epic fantasy full of political intrigue, complex characters, and magical conspiracy. Now he takes the hero of that series to new adventures across the sea on a journey to the Southlands. Grinsa, who nearly single-handedly won the war of the Forelands, has been banished because he is a Weaver, a Qirsi who can wield many magics. He and his family seek only peace and a place to settle down. But even on the distant southern continent, they can't escape the tension between his magical folk and the non-magical Eandi. Instead of peace, they find a war-ravaged land awash in racial tension and clan conflicts. Worse yet, his own people try to harness his great power and destroy his family. Amid the high tension of clan rivalry comes a plague that preys on Qirsi power across the Southlands with deadly results. When the disease is linked to an itinerant woman peddling baskets, one old man takes it upon himself to find answers in the secrets of her veiled past. With wonderfully creative magic, dark secrets, and engaging characters faced with a world of trouble, Coe deftly weaves an epic tapestry that launches a richly-entertaining new saga in an unknown land.

Seeing the Face, Seeing the Soul by Simon Swain,George Boys-Stones,Jas Elsner,Antonella Ghersetti,Robert Hoyland,Ian Repath Pdf

Polemon of Laodicea (near modern Denizli, south-west Turkey) was a wealthy Greek aristocrat and a key member of the intellectual movement known as the Second Sophistic. Among his works was the Physiognomy, a manual on how to tell character from appearance, thus enabling its readers to choose friends and avoid enemies on sight. Its formula of detailed instruction and personal reminiscence proved so successful that the book was re-edited in the fourth century by Adamantius in Greek, translated and adapted by an unknown Latin author of the same era, and translated in the early Middle Ages into Syriac and Arabic. The surviving versions of Adamantius, Anonymus Latinus, and the Leiden Arabic more than make up for the loss of the original. The present volume is the work of a team of leading Classicists and Arabists. The main surviving versions in Greek and Latin are translated into English for the first time. The Leiden Arabic translation is authoritatively re-edited and translated, as is a sample of the alternative Arabic Polemon. The texts and translations are introduced by a series of masterly studies that tell the story of the origins, function, and legacy of Polemon's work, a legacy especially rich in Islam. The story of the Physiognomy is the story of how one man's obsession with identifying enemies came to be taken up in the fascinating transmission of Greek thought into Arabic.

Pygmy by Chuck Palahniuk Pdf

A gang of adolescent terrorists, a spelling bee, and a terrible plan masquerading as a science project: This is Operation Havoc. Pygmy is one of a handful of young adults from a totalitarian state sent to the US disguised as exchange students. Living with American families to blend in, they are planning an unspecified act of massive terrorism that will bring this big dumb country and its fat dumb inhabitants to their knees. Palahniuk depicts Midwestern life through the eyes of this indoctrinated little killer in a cunning double-edged satire of American xenophobia.
