Breaking the Bonds of Fear by Joni Tada Pdf

Is fear causing you to lose sleep, stress out, or worry? Joni Eareckson Tada sheds light on the bondage of fear in Breaking the Bonds of Fear. This pamphlet is about an unhealthy fear that a lot of Christians live their whole lives with. Joni explains that our aim is to decrease our sinful fear of others, and increase our reverent fear of the Lord. We can develop a fear of the Lord by trusting in Him and reading the Bible. There might be times in your life where you’re not sure if God really cares about your circumstances or realizes the state you’re in, but taking a look at specific stories in the Bible will help you see God’s bigger picture. God wants you to trust in him, and when you read this pamphlet, you will clearly see how much God cares for you. Joni also talks about the fear that was generated from her tragic diving accident, and the steps that were taken to grow confidence in the Lord after her tragic accident that left her quadriplegic. Even death is not something to fear, when our trust rests in the only one who conquered death! Let Jesus be the ballast of your ship, for it is only then that you will find peace and restoration from fear.

Arendt, Levinas and a Politics of Relationality by Anya Topolski Pdf

Born in Eastern Europe, educated in the West under the guidance of Martin Heidegger and the phenomenological tradition, and forced to flee during the Holocaust because of their Jewish identity, it should come as no surprise that Emmanuel Levinas and Hannah Arendt’s ideas intersect in an important way. This book demonstrates for the first time the significance of a dialogue between Levinas’ ethics of alterity and Arendt’s politics of plurality. Anya Topolski brings their respective projects into dialogue by means of the notion of relationality, a concept inspired by the Judaic tradition that is prominent in both thinker’s work. The book explores questions relating to the relationship between ethics and politics, the Judaic contribution to rethinking the meaning of the political after the Shoah, and the role of relationality and responsibility for politics. The result is an alternative conception of the political based on the ideas of plurality and alterity that aims to be relational, inclusive, and empowering.

Continuing Bonds by Dennis Klass,Phyllis R. Silverman,Steven Nickman Pdf

First published in 1996. This new book gives voice to an emerging consensus among bereavement scholars that our understanding of the grief process needs to be expanded. The dominant 20th century model holds that the function of grief and mourning is to cut bonds with the deceased, thereby freeing the survivor to reinvest in new relationships in the present. Pathological grief has been defined in terms of holding on to the deceased. Close examination reveals that this model is based more on the cultural values of modernity than on any substantial data of what people actually do. Presenting data from several populations, 22 authors - among the most respected in their fields - demonstrate that the health resolution of grief enables one to maintain a continuing bond with the deceased. Despite cultural disapproval and lack of validation by professionals, survivors find places for the dead in their on-going lives and even in their communities. Such bonds are not denial: the deceased can provide resources for enriched functioning in the present. Chapters examine widows and widowers, bereaved children, parents and siblings, and a population previously excluded from bereavement research: adoptees and their birth parents. Bereavement in Japanese culture is also discussed, as are meanings and implications of this new model of grief. Opening new areas of research and scholarly dialogue, this work provides the basis for significant developments in clinical practice in the field.

From Captive to Captor by Katie Richards Pdf

For years, author Katie Richards was on a seemingly never-ending ride of fear, worry, anxiety, doubt, and depression. A journey that, though she hated the destination, she seemed to continuously return to. It wasn’t until she realized the root of her fears, worries, and doubts that she was able to find freedom. She discovered the root of everything with which she struggled stemmed from the words: “What if?” In From Captive to Captor, she narrates a personal testimony of freedom from fear and anxiety as well as presents a strategic battle plan for those who currently find themselves captive. From a perspective of someone who was once helpless and without hope in the battle with fear, this guide is a tool for those who want freedom but have no idea where to begin. From Captive to Captor was born from a place of wanting to provide not only hope to those currently in battle with fear and anxiety, but also the desire to give practical answers of “how to” that sometimes cannot be found. With powerful scriptures, personal testimonies, and counseling techniques combined, Richards offers a light in the darkness and a beacon of hope
