Totally "Off The Grid"! I''m Mobile Rik, and since spring 2014, I''ve been sustainably living off the grid in my own homemade truck camper I built on my Toyota Tacoma for, get this... under $250! Of course, since the original "stupidly simple" (under 500 lbs "light") shell I built in just three construction days , there have been many upgrades - Deep Cell Battery, Solar Panels, Ultra-Lightweight Roof, and my nifty A-Frame Popup with a 7''8" ceiling - But the essential "dirt cheap" DIY design is still holding up awesomely. And of course the best part is that because I built it myself, it fits my own unique needs perfectly - to be self-sufficiently camping in nature, boondocking in free campsites, immersing myself further in sustainable "off grid" life, cooking up vegan meals on my DIY tin can wood-gas stove, and baking amazing pizza and cookies in my cardboard box oven. Wanna join me? Many already have! Over the past two years since I released the first preview version of my book (which has been downloaded over 6000 times!), I''ve received hundreds of emails from men and women all over the world who have been inspired by my ideas to design their own Custom Camper, and get off the grid as fast as possible. I''VE WRITTEN THIS BOOK TO HELP YOU *GET OFF THE GRID* AS FAST AS YOU CAN Much more than just a set of "camper building plans", the purpose of my book is to INSPIRE and coach you on your way to quick freedom. It is in NO WAY - a "comprehensive technical manual" on camper building, nor a complicated hard-to-read set of overly-detailed blueprints that will only discourage you Rather, this book is focused on helping you design a SIMPLE off-grid camper for YOU. What I present in this book is... An elegant flexible and sustainable approach that allows you to easily design your own unique plans from scratch, while intuitively understanding every step. In The 2017 Second Edition Of My Digitally-Downloadable Book You Will Learn: How I created my own custom design that was so simple, I could build it - in just 3 days - without even looking at my plans! How I built my first fully-campable version for less than $200 - while paying retail prices. (i.e. you could probably do it for much less!) My breakthrough insight that allowed me to get off the grid in a matter of weeks - rather than months, years, or even decades! The quickest easiest ways to power your camper when you start off-gridding - EVEN BEFORE you''ve learned (with my Easy Camper Electricity chapter) how to wire up an enjoyably simple electrical system. The surprising inspiration for my new "ultra-high" popup roof design - which not only gives me 7''8" of headroom and allows me to sit upright in the cabover on cushions - it''s also way cheaper to build ! How I made an Ultra-Lightweight Fully-Waterproofed *Arched* Roof that I can lift with one hand using a ridiculously inexpensive "forgotten" technique used a century ago by boat-builders. To better help you understand exactly how to build your own custom camper... The Motor Camping Book (Legacy Edition) by Elon Jessup Pdf

One of the First Manuals on Car Camping and Recreational Vehicles This deluxe unabridged reprint Legacy Edition of Elon Jessup's historic The Motor Camping Book is full of classic tips and methods for making the most out of your car camping and recreational vehicle trips. As one of the first books on RVs and car camping published originally in 1921, this vintage book is an essential text for seeing how car camping, trailer life, and campers enjoyed themselves when cars were few and outdoors touring roads were all still covered in dirt! Jessup's analysis and discussion of car camping was ahead of its time. Jessup describes in detail some of the finer points of motor vehicle camping in its earliest days, including chapters on why we camp in our vehicles in the first place, what to pack in your car, water considerations, cooking kits and utensils, cooking fires, food boxes, sleeping arrangements and how to set up tents, car-based shelters in original motor cars, furnishing your campsite, staying out of trouble with common car-based challenges, where to camp with your car in 1921, and laws for motorists of the day. This vintage book includes timeless RV and motor vehicle camping topics. It makes a perfect gift for car campers, van life enthusiasts, trailer and camper RV die-hards, and anyone who longs to spend a weekend or longer in their RV, young and old! This is the classic manual of RVs, preserved for over a century! It also makes a great gift for outsoorspeople, bushcrafters, survivalists, campers, and scouts. Although this book represents thought from a former time, it also reveals much about the rich history of recreational vehicles, and many of the tips, tricks, and discussions are still relevant for study today! A part of the Library of American Outdoors Classics. This Doublebit Legacy Edition facsimile reprint of The Motor Camping Book is professionally restored and presented from the original source, including inspiration from the book's original cover, with the highest degree of fidelity possible. Readers can enjoy this Legacy Edition for generations to come and learn from its timeless knowledge. About the Doublebit Press Library of American Outdoors Classics As a part of the Doublebit Press Library of American Outdoors Classics, this unabridged facsimile Legacy Edition volume is reprinted in the exact form as it was presented in the original publication. Overlanders' Handbook by Chris Scott Pdf

Chris Scott and his band of globetrotting contributors and specialists have put together the definitive manual for planning and undertaking a vehicle-dependent overlanding adventure across the wilds of Africa, Asia and Latin America. The Overlanders’ Handbook is written in the same entertaining yet clear jargon-free English for which Chris’s other books are known – it doesn’t assume you know your plug gap from a radiator cap. Planning – When to go; typical costs; documentation; sponsorship; early overland journeys. Vehicle choice and preparation – The Overlanders’ Handbook is the most comprehensive account in print, covering everything from adapting a cheap car to equipping a campervan or 4x4 for months on the road, or even building and outfitting your own accommodation module to mount on an all-terrain truck chassis. Life on the road – How to handle dodgy borders, haggle over a purchase, treat a dodgy stomach and cope with crazy driving conditions. Guidance on wild camping; navigation and mapping strategies; onward shipping; advice for solo women overlanders; travelling with children or with pets; vehicle repairs and troubleshooting; and off-road driving techniques. Continental route outlines – Guidelines on both popular and obscure overland routes through Africa, Asia and Latin America. Includes fuel prices, easiest borders and best seasons, visa strategies, danger zones and regional highlights. First Overland by Tim Slessor Pdf

Why Not? After all, no-one had ever done it before. It would be one of the longest of all overland journeys – half way round the world, from the English Channel to Singapore. They knew that several expeditions had already tried it. Some had got as far as the desrts of Persia; a few had even reached the plains of India. But no one had managed to go on from there: over the jungle clad mountains of Assam and across northern Burma to Thailand and Malaya. Over the last 3,000 miles it seemed there were ‘just too many rivers and too few roads’. But no-one really knew … In fact, their problems began much earlier than that. As mere undergraduates, they had no money, no cars, nothing. But with a cool audacity, which was to become characteristic, they set to work – wheedling and cajoling. First, they coaxed the BBC to come up with some film for a possible TV series. They then gently persuaded the manufacturers to lend them two factory-fresh Land Rovers. A publisher was even sweet-talked into giving them an advance on a book. By the time they were ready to go, their sponsors (more than 80 of them) ranged from whiskey distillers to the makers of collapsible buckets. In late 1955, they set off. Seven months and 12,000 miles later, two very weary Land Rovers, escorted by police outriders, rolled into Singapore – to flash bulbs and champagne. Now, fifty years on, their book, ‘First Overland’, is republished – with a foreword by Sir David Attenborough. After all, it was he who gave them that film.
