Gas Adsorption on Suspended Carbon Nanotubes and Graphene by Boris Dzyubenko Pdf

Rare gas adsorption was studied on suspended individual single walled carbon nanotubes and graphene. The devices were fabricated as field effect transistors. Adsorption of N2 and CO, which formed a Root 3 X Root 3 commensurate solid monolayer, produced a dramatic reduction of the two-terminal conductance of graphene by as much as a factor of three. This effect is possibly connected with the opening of a band gap expected to occur in such structures.

Nanomaterials Based Gas Sensors for SF6 Decomposition Components Detection by Xiaoxing Zhang Pdf

The insulating medium used in gas-insulated switchgear is SF6 gas, which has been widely used in substations. Energy generated by discharge will cause the composition of SF6 and generate characteristic component gases. Diagnosing the insulation defect through analyzing the decomposed gases of SF6 by chemical gas sensors is the optimal method due to its advantages. Carbon nanotubes, TiO2 nanotubes and graphene are chosen as the gas-sensing materials to build specific gas sensors for detecting each kind of SF6 decomposed gases and then enhance the gas sensitivity and selectivity by material modification. The properties and preparation methods are introduced in this book. The author studied the micro-adsorption mechanism and macro-gas sensing properties by theoretical calculation and sensing experiment.

Natural Gas Adsorption on Carbonaceous Nanomaterials by Delavar Maedeh,Nabian Nima Pdf

Natural gas is an attractive alternative for conventional fuels due to low price, being naturally abundant and less toxic gas emission. To develope the ANG thechnology, appropriate adsorbents with superior chractarestics and high storage capacities are required for development. Carbonaceous materials due to their appropriate properties have been evaluated for natural gas adsorption. With respect to the unique characteristics of carbon nanotubes, representation of appropriate gas storage properties by ANG method is an interesting projected area. In the first chapter, natural gas adsorption on different types of carbon nanotubes was investigated and compared to the adsorption data obtained by Granular activated carbons. Then, the effects of various chemical treatments on the performance of carbon nanotubes for natural gas adsorption were examined and discussed in the second chapter. Furthermore, sorption equilibria, kinetics and thermodynamic studies of adsorption processes were evaluated in this book.

The 2007 ARW “Using Carbon Nanomaterials in Clean-Energy Hydrogen Systems” (UCNCEHS’2007) was held in September 22–28, 2007 in the remarkable town Sudak (Crimea, Ukraine) known for its heroic and unusual fate. In the tradition of the earlier conferences, UCNCEHS’2007 meeting served as an multidisciplinary forum for the presentation and discussion of the most recent research on transition to hydrogen-based energy systems, technologies for hydrogen production, storage, utilization, carbon nanomaterials processing and chemical behavior, energy and environmental problems. The aim of UCNCEHS’2007 was to provide the wide overview of the latest scientific results on basic research and technological applications of hydrogen interactions with carbon materials. The active representatives from research/academic organizations and governmental agencies could meet, discuss and present the most recent advances in hydrogen concepts, processes and systems, to evaluate current progress and to exchange academic information, to identify research needs and future development in this important area. This ARW should help further the progress of hydrogen-based science and promote the role of hydrogen and carbon nanomaterials in the energy field.
