Own The Greatest Schitt's Creek Merchandise Available - The Famous Book From Season One! Experience the magic of Schitt's Creek for yourself with this replica copy of the book that Ted gives Alexis in Season One, Episode 9. Don't remember? Perhaps this Schitt's Creek quote may help: Ted: So, to get you more comfortable around animals...Alexis: Not a puppy, Ted!Ted: No. That'd be cruel to the puppy! This book has been designed to look exactly like the one on the show! It's perfect for those narcissistic loved ones who just need a little swift kick in the pants. Keep in mind, this is a REPLICA and not a real book. The book is modeled after the prop on the show and does NOT have any written content on the inside. The inside is devoid of plot, characters, story arc and denouement. It's largely devoid of anything save for page numbers and a little special surprise.... just like in the episode. If you're a fan of the show or know someone who is, this is quite possibly the perfect and most unique Schitt's Creek merchandise to give. To paraphrase Moira: Stop acting like a disgruntled pelican and pick up a copy today! BEWARE THE CROWENING!! **This is an UNAUTHORIZED reproduction of a book prop used on the show. Saving Animals by Elan Abrell Pdf

A fascinating and unprecedented ethnography of animal sanctuaries in the United States In the past three decades, animal rights advocates have established everything from elephant sanctuaries in Africa to shelters that rehabilitate animals used in medical testing, to homes for farmed animals, abandoned pets, and entertainment animals that have outlived their “usefulness.” Saving Animals is the first major ethnography to focus on the ethical issues animating the establishment of such places, where animals who have been mistreated or destined for slaughter are allowed to live out their lives simply being animals. Based on fieldwork at animal rescue facilities across the United States, Elan Abrell asks what “saving,” “caring for,” and “sanctuary” actually mean. He considers sanctuaries as laboratories where caregivers conceive and implement new models of caring for and relating to animals. He explores the ethical decision making around sanctuary efforts to unmake property-based human–animal relations by creating spaces in which humans interact with animals as autonomous subjects. Saving Animals illustrates how caregivers and animals respond by cocreating new human–animal ecologies adapted to the material and social conditions of the Anthropocene. Bridging anthropology with animal studies and political philosophy, Saving Animals asks us to imagine less harmful modes of existence in a troubled world where both animals and humans seek sanctuary.

The Humane Gardener by Nancy Lawson Pdf

In this eloquent plea for compassion and respect for all species, journalist and gardener Nancy Lawson describes why and how to welcome wildlife to our backyards. Through engaging anecdotes and inspired advice, profiles of home gardeners throughout the country, and interviews with scientists and horticulturalists, Lawson applies the broader lessons of ecology to our own outdoor spaces. Detailed chapters address planting for wildlife by choosing native species; providing habitats that shelter baby animals, as well as birds, bees, and butterflies; creating safe zones in the garden; cohabiting with creatures often regarded as pests; letting nature be your garden designer; and encouraging natural processes and evolution in the garden. The Humane Gardener fills a unique niche in describing simple principles for both attracting wildlife and peacefully resolving conflicts with all the creatures that share our world.

Caring for Family Pets by Radford G. Davis Pdf

This book helps pet owners fully understand what it means to care for a companion animal, from choosing a pet to veterinary visits and beyond. Pets are extremely popular in the United States. According to a recent survey, one third of American homes contain one or more cats; almost 40 percent of U.S. households include at least one dog. Pets serve as cherished companions for everyone from young children to senior citizens. However, there are responsibilities and risks involved with pet ownership, and the proper care of these animals that many consider "family" involves much more than keeping a water dish and food bowl full. This book is written by top animal health experts to explain our roles, rights, and health care challenges when bringing animals into our homes. Topics such as health, first aid, companion animal diseases, common surgeries, and alternative care for pets are all addressed. Information is also provided about pet birds, large pets such as horses, exotics such as snakes and reptiles, and "pocket pets" such as hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, and rats.

Care, Use, and Welfare of Marmosets as Animal Models for Gene Editing-Based Biomedical Research by National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine,Division on Earth and Life Studies,Institute for Laboratory Animal Research,Roundtable on Science and Welfare in Laboratory Animal Use Pdf

The marmoset, a type of small monkey native to South America, is a research model of increasing importance for biomedical research in the United States and globally. Marmosets offer a range of advantages as animal models in neuroscience, aging, infectious diseases, and other fields of study. They may be particularly useful for the development of new disease models using genetic engineering and assisted reproductive technologies. However, concerns have been voiced with respect to the development of new marmoset-based models of disease, ethical considerations for their use, the supply of marmosets available for research, and gaps in guidance for their care and management. To explore and address these concerns, the Roundtable on Science and Welfare in Laboratory Animal Use hosted a public workshop on October 22-23, 2018, in Washington, DC. The workshop focused on the availability of marmosets in the United States and abroad; animal welfare and ethical considerations stemming from the use of wildtype and genetically modified marmosets; and standards of housing and care, dietary needs, and feeding requirements for marmosets in captivity. This publication summarizes the presentations and discussions from the workshop.
