Catching the Dream by Joyce W. Leo & Nathalie Roy Pdf
Catching the Dream is a collection of poems written by 14 poets from all over the world. These poets all share a common trait: they fell in love with Susan Boyle´s voice and personality and were inspired enough to join a fan site (for the first time ever for most of them) where they discovered each other and enjoyed the pleasures of cyber-creation and communication. Long-time lovers of words and word games, they naturally expressed the joy and wonderment they felt through poetry. Their common adventure started with playing a word tag game of having the "Last Word." As they shared thoughts and feelings, experimenting different poetic styles, they gained trust with each other and joined on the same journey -- ultimately taking the form of individual spiritual quests into the common humanity that unites us all. Calling themselves the Golden Girls, these poets reflect the uniqueness and preciousness of gold, as well as its overtones of age, ripeness and wisdom. Each poet has a distinctive voice but together they create a continuous chant, their voices blending to sing a Hymn to Life. The 211 poems were edited and arranged by Joyce W. Leo and Nathalie Roy.
In a rare memoir about the Negro Leagues and its celebrated players, Frazier "Slow" Robinson offers an inspiring and often entertaining view of the black baseball diamond through a catcher's mask. In 1939, at the age of 29—after playing professional baseball for twelve years—Frazier Robinson caught the legendary Satchel Paige in barnstorming games from New Orleans to Walla Walla. Robinson played several more seasons in the Negro Leagues before finishing his career in Canada. While his career was a solid one, it was less spectacular than that of his friend and Hall-of-Famer, Satchel Paige, and so more typical of the experience of most Negro Leaguers. Richly embroidered with the threads of black society and of life as a black athlete in a racially divided nation, Robinson recounts his long career with the skill and ease of a natural storyteller. He covers, in remarkable detail, the personal perspective of the men, the teams, and the times that shaped this uniquely American subculture. From playing catcher for obscure industrial teams to barnstorming with Satchel Paige, he chronologically traces his nationwide path through the 1920s, '30s, '40s, and early '50s. The Foreword by John "Buck" O'Neil and Introduction by Gerald Early place Robinson squarely in the world of sports, African American culture, and American history.

Explores the director's repeated voyages into the dreamlike. A Dream of Hitchcock examines the recurring motif of the dream in Hitchcock’s work—dreamscapes, dream processes, the dream effect—by focusing on close readings of six celebrated but often misinterpreted films: Strangers on a Train, Rebecca, Saboteur, Rear Window, To Catch a Thief, and Family Plot. The Hitchcockian dream, as invoked here, is not so much a dream as it is a way of understanding, in its dramatic contexts, an “unearthly,” irrational quality in the filmmaker’s work. Rebecca revolves around problems of memory; To Catch a Thief around uncertainty; Saboteur around pungent aspiration; Family Plot around intuition; Rear Window around expansive imagination; and Strangers on a Train around delirious madness. All of these films enunciate the return of the past, the invocation of a boundary beyond which experience becomes unpredictable and uncertain, and the celebration of values that transcend narrative resolution. Murray Pomerance’s distinctive method for thinking through Hitchcock’s work allows these films to inform theorization, not the other way around. His original, provocative, and groundbreaking explorations point to the importance of fantasy, improbability, doubt disconcertion, hope, memory, intuition, and belief, through which the oneiric comes to the center of waking life. Murray Pomerance is an independent scholar living in Toronto. He has published dozens of volumes on cinema, including four books on Alfred Hitchcock: An Eye for Hitchcock, Alfred Hitchcock’s America, Marnie, and The Man Who Knew Too Much.
"Dreamcatching" is the first and only dream work guide for parents who want to teach their children how to understand and learn from their dreams, with wonderful anecdotes, practical advice, exercises, and a dreamcatcher's workbook to encourage children's emotional and spiritual development.
Having a dream is a beautiful thing. In the early stages of life especially, it gives children a sense of purpose, motivating them to want to make a contribution to the world on behalf of themselves as well as their parents, whose approval is always sought. The important thing to keep in mind about dreams is that they dont just come true on their own, contrary to what we would like to believe. They have to be pursued, and in order to effectively pursue your dream, there are a few things that are essential. The first, is faith. Nobody will believe in you if you dont believe in yourself first. The second, is commitment. You have to place yourself on the path that will lead you to where you want to be, and have the courage & the discipline to stay there, despite those that may not support you in the beginning, and those that may attempt to derail you in an effort to do what is cool according to them. The last, and absolute most important thing is knowledge. You must take your education serious because without it, no doors will open for you. If you keep the aforementioned things in your mind, constantly implementing them into your daily routine, you will certainly make your dream come true. If you try to cut corners, or sit around with a false sense of entitlement, you will reduce your dreams into nothing more than wishes.
