Inside ICE by Mythili Sampathkumar Pdf
Immigration and Customs Enforcement was formed in 2003 by President George W. Bush as part of the effort to combine and consolidate several border protection, immigration, and port security services into one agency. This book gives an overview of the functions, structures, and controversies encountered by the federal agency. From the post-9/11 role of the agency to the recent immigration scandals, students will learn how this enforcement force patrols our borders to keep out criminals and terrorists and what happens when its work becomes politicized.

Prior Disclosure - What Every Member of the Trade Community Should Know (An Informed Compliance Publication) by U.S. CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION Pdf
The prior disclosure provision contained in 19 U.S.C. ¤ 1592 provides reduced penalties to a person who notifies CBP of the circumstances of a violation of the customs laws and regulations, before CBP or U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)/Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) discovers the possible violation and notifies the party of the discovery of the possible violation. In certain cases, a valid prior disclosure may result in either substantial mitigation or cancellation of a penalty in full. Valid prior disclosures can save a person time and money, but all parties (including CBP) must be aware of the prior disclosure requirements in order to realize the benefits of this provision of law. The official CBP policy is to encourage the submission of valid prior disclosures. It is important to remember that this ICP only involves prior disclosures submitted pursuant to 19 U.S.C. ¤ 1592.

Illegal by Elizabeth F. Cohen Pdf
A political scientist explains how the American immigration system ran off the rails -- and proposes a bold plan for reform Under the Trump administration, US immigration agencies terrorize the undocumented, target people who are here legally, and even threaten the constitutional rights of American citizens. How did we get to this point? In Illegal, Elizabeth F. Cohen reveals that our current crisis has roots in early twentieth century white nationalist politics, which began to reemerge in the 1980s. Since then, ICE and CBP have acquired bigger budgets and more power than any other law enforcement agency. Now, Trump has unleashed them. If we want to reverse the rising tide of abuse, Cohen argues that we must act quickly to rein in the powers of the current immigration regime and revive saner approaches based on existing law. Going beyond the headlines, Illegal makes clear that if we don't act now all of us, citizen and not, are at risk.

Immigration Enforcement and Policies by Bruno T. Isenburg Pdf
An estimated 11 million unauthorised aliens reside in the United States, and this population is estimated to increase by 500,000 annually. Each year, approximately 1 million aliens are apprehended trying to enter the United States illegally. Although most of these aliens enter the United States for economic opportunities and family reunification, or to avoid civil strife and political unrest, some are criminals, and some may be terrorists. All are violating the United States' immigration laws.
