Celebrated Crimes: Volume Two by Alexandre Dumas Pdf

Between 1839 and 1841, with significant help from other writers, Alexandre Dumas wrote and published 18 essays about some of the most famous crimes in Europe. Presented in stark and often graphic detail, these included some of the current, and therefore popular cases of Dumas' day. Originally collected in eight volumes, and later in ten, these have been reformatted into two volumes to make them more affordable to own . . . but not a single word of the original text has been changed. For those who study history, true crime, or Western literature, these books represent a unique opportunity to experience crime and criminals from the 19th century perspective.

This book is a result of an effort made by us towards making a contribution to the preservation and repair of original classic literature. In an attempt to preserve, improve and recreate the original content, we have worked towards: 1. Type-setting & Reformatting: The complete work has been re-designed via professional layout, formatting and type-setting tools to re-create the same edition with rich typography, graphics, high quality images, and table elements, giving our readers the feel of holding a 'fresh and newly' reprinted and/or revised edition, as opposed to other scanned & printed (Optical Character Recognition - OCR) reproductions. 2. Correction of imperfections: As the work was re-created from the scratch, therefore, it was vetted to rectify certain conventional norms with regard to typographical mistakes, hyphenations, punctuations, blurred images, missing content/pages, and/or other related subject matters, upon our consideration. Every attempt was made to rectify the imperfections related to omitted constructs in the original edition via other references. However, a few of such imperfections which could not be rectified due to intentional\unintentional omission of content in the original edition, were inherited and preserved from the original work to maintain the authenticity and construct, relevant to the work. We believe that this work holds historical, cultural and/or intellectual importance in the literary works community, therefore despite the oddities, we accounted the work for print as a part of our continuing effort towards preservation of literary work and our contribution towards the development of the society as a whole, driven by our beliefs. We are grateful to our readers for putting their faith in us and accepting our imperfections with regard to preservation of the historical content. HAPPY READING!

Celebrated Crimes, Vol. 2 of 3 (Classic Reprint) by Alexandre Dumas Pdf

Excerpt from Celebrated Crimes, Vol. 2 of 3 Now, priests and soldiers, men of letters and poets, nobles and commoners, were looking forward with terror to the government falling into the hands of a stranger and a young girl, and called to mind the words of Robert himself when following to the grave the body of Charles, his only son. At the moment when he passed the threshold of the church, he turned toward the barons of the kingdom, and cried, in a voice stiļ¬‚ed by his sobs, This day the crown is fallen from my head: woe to me! Woe to you And now that the bells were announcing the dying agonies of the good king, these prophetic words occurred to the minds of every one. Celebrated Crimes, Vol. 5 (Classic Reprint) by Alexandre Dumas Pdf

Excerpt from Celebrated Crimes, Vol. 5 She was the daughter of Francesco Cenci. However little it may be believed that men are born 1n harmony with the age in which they are to live, and that certain ones represent all its virtue and m certain others all its vicious tendencies are inbred, it may, perhaps, be of interest to our readers to glance rapidly over the years immediately preceding the events which we propose to describe. Francesco Cenci will then appear to them as the very incarnation of the diabolism of the age in which he lived. On the eleventh of August, 1492, after the protracted last illness of Innocent VIII., during which two hundred and twenty murders were committed in the streets of Rome, Alexander VI. Ascended the papal throne. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Celebrated Crimes, Vol. 8 (Classic Reprint) by Alexandre Dumas Pdf

Excerpt from Celebrated Crimes, Vol. 8 It may be that our readers, whose memories hardly go back beyond the Restoration, will be surprised at the large frame in which we enclose the picture that we are about to place before their eyes, embracing something more than two centuries and a half; but everything has its precedent, every river its source, every volcano its internal fire; from 1551 to 1815, on that portion of the earth's surface to which we direct our attention, the pendulum swung constantly from one side to the other, action was followed by reaction, vengeance by reprisals; and the religious annals of the South are nothing more than a double entry ledger kept by fanaticism with death, with the blood of Protestants entered on one side, and of Catholics on the other. Famous Crimes the World Forgot Volume II by Jason Lucky Morrow Pdf

Famous Crimes the World Forgot Volume II uncovers more amazing true crimes that exploded into the national news, shocking Americans from coast to coast-crimes that were eventually forgotten-until now. Each one of these stories transports you back to the time they happened, propels you through all the suspense-filled developments, and explores each one with an in-depth look into the actions of humans so evil, it's hard to believe they were real. They include: a serial poisoner who laughed when thought he got away with murdering a brother and sister, but cried when he was arrested; a woman with a history of being robbed by two men until the third time it happened when they killed her husband, or so she said; a mail-order bride lured to her death 3,000 miles away by a man with a wife and five children; a serial-rapist and possible serial-killer who murdered two sisters on their way to church; a five-time loser turned drifter who gunned down four men for $40 inside a hermit's shack; an escaped convict turned serial-killer with a taste for red-heads; the mysterious car bomb murder of a wealthy Texas socialite which churned up a cast of sordid characters who captivated an audience for what was America's first live-televised murder trial; and Milwaukee's first serial-killer who stabbed young girls with a seven-inch stiletto.

Excerpt from Celebrated Crimes, Vol. 3 About eight o'clock of a certain evening toward the close of the year 1657, a plain carriage, without armorial bearings of any sort, stopped at a house on Rue Haute feuille, in front of which two other carriages were already standing. A footman at once got down to open the door, but a soft voice, which trembled slightly, stopped him, saying: Wait until I see if this is the place.
