The lord of the worlds Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) privileged humanity by manifesting in the world which was in a state of utter chaos before him. Mawlid or the birthday of Allah's beloved Prophet Mohammad was celebrated with all the unheretical practices for approximately thirteen hundred years. It is only after the Ottoman Empire that a kind of debate on the celebration of his birthday is continued. The author, Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman has answered all queries regarding celebration of Mawlid. He has proven the validity of celebrating the prestigious day of the Prophet’s arrival by the authentic events, Hadiths, Sunna and extracts from the legendary scholars of Islam. No aspect of the issue has been kept unaddressed. The holy verses of the Quran have been referred to reinforce the acceptability and authenticity of celebration of the most auspicious day. Muḥammad's Birthday Festival by Nico J.G. Kaptein Pdf

This is the first monograph in Western Orientalism entirely devoted to the history of the birthday festival of the Prophet Muḥammad (Arab. mawlid al-nabī). On the basis of historical sources, Chapters 1 and 2 examine what is known on the history of this festival in the Middle East until the beginning of the 7th/13th century. In Chapter 3 the existence of different views on the origin of the mawlid within Islam itself is examined. It is shown that these different opinions on the origin of the mawlid follows from discussions on the permissibility of its celebration. The rest of the book (Chapters 4 - 8) deals with the mawlid in the Western Muslim world up to the beginning of the 10th/16th century. The following dynasties are treated respectively: the ‘Azafids of Ceuta, the Marīnids and the Waṭṭāsids, the Nasrids, the ‘Abd al-Wādids and the ḥafsids.

THE RULING CONCERNING THE CELEBRATION OF MAWLID by Saleh Bin Fawzaan Al-Fawzaan Pdf

The celebration of Mawlid an-Nabawi (birthday of Allah's Messenger) is celebrated on the day the Prophet passed away (i.e., 12th of Rabie al-Awwal). The birth-day of the Prophet as proven by the almanac is 9th Rabie al-Awwal. Ironically, only a few years ago the celebration was called, 'Bara Wafaat' (i.e., 12th - the day of death), but recently it was renamed, 'Eid Milad' (the celebration of Milad/Mawlid) or Mawlid an-Nabawi. Some (of those who celebrate Mawlid an-Nabawi) believe that the Messenger of Allah visits (the celebrations of) Mawlid. They also stand to greet and welcome the Prophet. This is the greatest falsehood and worst form of ignorance because the Prophet shall never come out of his grave before the Day of Resurrection. He will neither meet/make contact with any person nor attend their gatherings.

Radical Love by Omid Safi Pdf

This stunning collection showcases the love poetry and mystical teachings at the heart of the Islamic tradition in accurate and poetic original translations At a time when the association of Islam with violence dominates headlines, this beautiful collection offers us a chance to see a radically different face of the Islamic tradition. It traces a soaring, poetic, popular tradition that celebrates love for both humanity and the Divine as the ultimate path leading humanity back to God. Safi brings together for the first time the passages of the Qur'an sought by the Muslim sages, the mystical sayings of the Prophet, and the teachings of the path of "Divine love." Accurately and sensitively translated by leading scholar of Islam Omid Safi, the writings of Jalal al‑Din Rumi can now be read alongside passages by Kharaqani, 'Attar, Hafez of Shiraz, Abu Sa'id‑e Abi 'l‑Khayr, and other key Muslim mystics. For the millions of readers whose lives have been touched by Rumi's poetry, here is a chance to see the Arabic and Persian traditions that produced him.

Domestic Devotions in the Early Modern World by Anonim Pdf

This volume sets out to explore the world of domestic devotions and is premised on the assumption that the home was a central space of religious practice and experience throughout the early modern world. The contributions to this book, which deal with themes dating from the fifteenth to the eighteenth century, tell of the intimate relationship between humans and the sacred within the walls of the home. The volume demonstrates that the home cannot be studied in isolation: the sixteen essays, that encompass religious history, the histories of art and architecture, material culture, literary history, and social and cultural history, instead point individually and collectively to the porosity of the home and its connectedness with other institutions and broader communities.
