This book provides the definitive answer to the question of whether Castro was a Communist before he made the revolution or not. In a series of conversations held in 1964 with all the members of the Cuban govenrnment who had participated in the overthrow of Batista in 1959, each one told in his own words why he had participated in the revolution. At the end of President Barack Obama's second term, it seemed that the U.S. and Cuba might be on track to normalize relations after five decades of cold war animus. Several years into the Trump administration there are still several pathways that these two neighboring countries could take to either continue the rapprochement, extend the status quo, or drift further apart.
