Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell Pdf

"Nineteen Eighty-Four: A Novel", often published as "1984", is a dystopian social science fiction novel by English novelist George Orwell. It was published on 8 June 1949 by Secker & Warburg as Orwell's ninth and final book completed in his lifetime. Thematically, "Nineteen Eighty-Four" centres on the consequences of totalitarianism, mass surveillance, and repressive regimentation of persons and behaviours within society. Orwell, himself a democratic socialist, modelled the authoritarian government in the novel after Stalinist Russia. More broadly, the novel examines the role of truth and facts within politics and the ways in which they are manipulated. The story takes place in an imagined future, the year 1984, when much of the world has fallen victim to perpetual war, omnipresent government surveillance, historical negationism, and propaganda. Great Britain, known as Airstrip One, has become a province of a totalitarian superstate named Oceania that is ruled by the Party who employ the Thought Police to persecute individuality and independent thinking. Big Brother, the leader of the Party, enjoys an intense cult of personality despite the fact that he may not even exist. The protagonist, Winston Smith, is a diligent and skillful rank-and-file worker and Outer Party member who secretly hates the Party and dreams of rebellion. He enters into a forbidden relationship with a colleague, Julia, and starts to remember what life was like before the Party came to power.

Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, Canto One, Chapter One by Śrīdhara Svāmī Pdf

Śrīdhara Svāmī's commentary on the Bhāgavatam is the oldest extant full and most well-known commentary that is available to us today, though there were other commentators present before him. His commentary was praised by Lord Caitanya, "One who does not accept the svāmī as an authority I consider him a prostitute. Śrīdhara Svāmī is the spiritual master of the entire world because by his mercy we can understand Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. I therefore accept him as a spiritual master. One who comments on Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam following in the footsteps of Śrīdhara Svāmī will be honored and accepted by everyone." Therefore ācāryas in Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava sampradāya follow after Śrīdhara Svāmī in their commentaries on Bhāgavatam. Viśvanatha Cakravartī writes in his commentary "My eyes are covered by ignorance, but Śrīdhara Svāmī, who wrote Bhāvārtha-dīpikā, being very merciful to me in producing this commentary, is my means to success." Śrīla Prabhupāda calls Śrīdhara Svāmī as the original commentator on the Bhāgavatam. Some say that Śrīdhara Svāmī was an advaitian and later embraced bhakti, however, Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī says that he was never an advaitian rather was always a pure devotee of the Lord and belonged to Śrī Viṣṇu Svāmī sampradāya which is Rudra sampradāya. Nevertheless, Jīva Gośvāmī says in his Sandarbha, "In order to immerse the proponents of Advaita philosophy into the glories of the Lord, Śrīdhara Svāmī the great Vaiṣṇava uses their own philosophy [at times] in his variegated colored writings." Commenting on this Baladeva Vidyābhūṣaṇa says "Śrīdhara Svāmī is actually a Vaiṣṇava and he states in his writings that the Lord’s vibhūtis, abodes, qualities and forms, as well as the bodies of his associates are eternal and that bhakti to Bhagavān is the most attractive type of liberation. Sometimes he writes māyāvāda ideas, but it should be understood that its purpose is to lure the māyāvādīs to bhakti, by offering bait on a hook." So sometimes we might encounter statements in Śrīdhara Svāmī's commentary that look as if he is advocating māyāvāda, but many a times he vehemently goes against māyāvāda and establishes bhakti. Even then many of those statements which apparently look like māyāvāda philosophy can be taken with a bhakti interpretation and on footnotes I've tried to give bhakti explanations on those points which look like māyāvāda ideas following the footsteps of previous Ācāryas. Jīva Gośvāmī further says about Śrīdhara Svāmī in his Sandarbha, "Śrīdhara Svāmī's commentaries are quoted verbatim if they follow the pure Vaiṣṇava conclusions." This shows that Jīva Gośvāmī's commentary also follows mainly Śrīdhara Svāmī. Since Śrīdhara Svāmī's commentary becomes the main pramāṇa (evidence) for our ācāryas including Prabhupāda, reading it will give further insights into the commentaries of our ācāryas.

The Final Chapter One American’s Opinion by R. Lynn Wilson Pdf

This is the final book in the One American’s Opinion — For Patriots Who Love Their Country Trilogy. The first book was about President Obama’s years in office. The second book covered the first year of the Trump presidency. This final book chronicles the current state of America, the Marxist destruction of American culture, and the power and control over America they desire. The original colonists came to America to escape religious persecution, escape repression, and find better economic opportunity. If we lose America to the progressives and their Marxist based ideology, we will no longer have freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom from repression, or economic opportunity. Our cultural heritage, our philosophy of government, and our free market capitalist-based economy has made America the greatest civilization the world has ever known. We are in a fight for the soul of our democracy. Historically, throughout civilization, it has not been a question of whether a successful society can last forever but how long it can last. There is no society that has outlasted the test of time. The real question is when. America’s future existence is the crucial question for this book.

Gordon Korman's newest stand-alone novel, featuring Greenwich Middle School's class of outcasts and miscreants — The Unteachables! In the multiple-narrator format that Gordon perfected in Ungifted and Supergifted, this book tells the story of Greenwich Middle School's class SCS-8, a.k.a The Unteachables! The Unteachables are a wayward medley of characters: Parker the dyslexic farm boy; Aldo, who is perpetually angry; Elaine (rhymes with pain); Barnstorm the jock; Rahim the sleep-deprived artist; and Mateo, lost in fantasy worlds. Plus Kiana, who is just in town visiting her dad and isn't even registered with the school. Not to mention their teacher, Mr. Ribbit — er, Mr. Kermit — who remains in disgrace after a 25-year-old cheating scandal and is just killing time, doing crossword puzzles and waiting to take early retirement at the end of the year. Are they really incorrigible, or is it possible they are just misunderstood? This unlikely group of heroes is about to find out for themselves.
