The Common Information Model CIM by Mathias Uslar,Michael Specht,Sebastian Rohjans,Jörn Trefke,José M. González Pdf

Within the Smart Grid, the combination of automation equipment, communication technology and IT is crucial. Interoperability of devices and systems can be seen as the key enabler of smart grids. Therefore, international initiatives have been started in order to identify interoperability core standards for Smart Grids. IEC 62357, the so called Seamless Integration Architecture, is one of these very core standards, which has been identified by recent Smart Grid initiatives and roadmaps to be essential for building and managing intelligent power systems. The Seamless Integration Architecture provides an overview of the interoperability and relations between further standards from IEC TC 57 like the IEC 61970/61968: Common Information Model - CIM. CIM has proven to be a mature standard for interoperability and engineering; consequently, it is a cornerstone of the IEC Smart Grid Standardization Roadmap. This book provides an overview on how the CIM developed, in which international projects and roadmaps is has already been covered and describes the basic use cases for CIM. This book has been written for both Power Engineers trying to get to know the EMS and business IT part of Smart Grid and for Computer Scientist finding out where ICT technology is applied in EMS and DMS Systems. The book is divided into two parts dealing with the theoretical foundations and a practical part describing tools and use cases for CIM.

Smart Grid Planning and Implementation by P.E. Gellings Pdf

This book is intended for electric utility managers, directors, and power system planners, regulators, and policy makers interested in the steps needed to realize the value of a modern power delivery system. This book describes the elements needed in planning and implementing a "Smart Grid" by outlining how the electricity delivery system can be modernized so it monitors, protects, and automatically optimizes the operation of its interconnected elements—from the central and distributed generator through the high-voltage network and distribution system, to energy storage installations and to end-use consumers and their thermostats, electric vehicles, appliances, and other household devices. This comprehensive guide highlights emerging concepts of cyber and physical security, resiliency, and the newest architecture—"The Integrated Grid." You’ll gain an understanding of how a two-way flow of electricity and information can be used to create an automated, widely distributed energy delivery network.

New Horizons in Arts, Heritage, Nonprofit and Social Marketing by Roger Bennett,Finola Kerrigan,Daragh O'Reilly Pdf

Arts, heritage, non-profit and social marketing today comprise key components of the contemporary marketing management scene. Governments, charities and voluntary sector organisations throughout the world are increasingly involved in the development of marketing campaigns, and more and more of these organisations are likely to be at the cutting edge of the application of the very latest marketing methods. Research in the arts, heritage, non-profit and social marketing fields is intellectually rigorous, relevant for user communities, and has a great deal to offer to marketing theory as well as to promotional practice. This book presents a collection of stimulating articles that report some of the freshest and most innovative research and thinking in the authors’ specialist domains. Collectively the chapters offer a balance of empirical and conceptual research in arts, heritage, non-profit and social marketing. They explore new ideas, challenge pre-existing orthodoxies, develop knowledge, and demonstrate the epistemological importance of current research in these critical areas. This book was originally published as a special issue of the Journal of Marketing Management.

Smart Grid Standards by Takuro Sato,Daniel M. Kammen,Bin Duan,Martin Macuha,Zhenyu Zhou,Jun Wu,Muhammad Tariq,Solomon Abebe Asfaw Pdf

A fully comprehensive introduction to smart grid standardsand their applications for developers, consumers and serviceproviders The critical role of standards for smart grid has already beenrealized by world-wide governments and industrial organizations. There are hundreds of standards for Smart Grid which have beendeveloped in parallel by different organizations. It istherefore necessary to arrange those standards in such a way thatit is easier for readers to easily understand and select aparticular standard according to their requirements without goinginto the depth of each standard, which often spans from hundreds tothousands of pages. The book will allow people in the smart grid areas and in therelated industries to easily understand the fundamental standardsof smart grid, and quickly find the building-block standards theyneed from hundreds of standards for implementing a smart gridsystem. The authors highlight the most advanced works and effortsnow under way to realize an integrated and interoperable smartgrid, such as the “NIST Framework and Roadmap for Smart GridInteroperability Standards Release 2.0”, the” IEC SmartGrid Standardization Roadmap”, the ISO/IEC’s“Smart Grid Standards for Residential Customers”, theZigBee/HomePlug’s “Smart Energy Profile Specification2.0”, IEEE’s P2030 “Draft Guide for Smart GridInteroperability of Energy Technology and Information TechnologyOperation with the Electric Power System (EPS), and End-UseApplications and Loads”, and the latest joint researchproject results between the world’s two largest economies, USand China. The book enables readers to fully understand the latestachievements and ongoing technical works of smart grid standards, and assist industry utilities, vendors, academia, regulators, andother smart grid stakeholders in future decision making. The book begins with an overview of the smart grid, andintroduces the opportunities in both developed and developingcountries. It then examines the standards for power griddomain of the smart grid, including standards for blackoutprevention and energy management, smart transmission, advanceddistribution management and automation, smart substationautomation, and condition monitoring. Communication and securitystandards as a whole are the backbone of smart grid and theirstandards, including those for wired and wireless communications, are then assessed. Finally the authors consider the standards andon-going work and efforts for interoperability and integrationbetween different standards and networks, including the latestjoint research effort between the world’s two largesteconomies, US and China. A fully comprehensive introduction to smart grid standards andtheir applications for developers, consumers and serviceproviders Covers all up-to-date standards of smart grid, including thekey standards from NIST, IEC, ISO ZigBee, IEEE, HomePlug, SAE, andother international and regional standardization organizations. TheAppendix summarizes all of the standards mentioned in the book Presents standards for renewable energy and smart generation, covering wind energy, solar voltaic, fuel cells, pumped storage, distributed generation, and nuclear generation standards. Standardsfor other alternative sources of energy such as geothermal energy, and bioenergy are briefly introduced Introduces the standards for smart storage and plug-in electricvehicles, including standards for distributed energy resources(DER), electric storage, and E-mobility/plug-in vehicles The book is written in an accessible style, ideal as anintroduction to the topic, yet contains sufficient detail andresearch to appeal to the more advanced and specialist reader.

North American Foreign Missions, 1810-1914 by Wilbert R. Shenk Pdf

The year 1810 marks the start of the North American foreign missions movement -- a movement begun with typical American enthusiasm and vigor but in need of practical grounding. This volume explores important facets of the development of North American foreign missions, paying particular attention to the role agencies like the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions (ABCFM) played in shaping the theology, theory, and policy of evangelistic activities overseas. Written by leading experts on missions and religious history, this volume is distinguished by its focus on key events taking place at the home base rather than on happenings in the foreign mission field. In doing so, these insightful studies shed light on important yet neglected topics, including the impact of debates about slavery on foreign missions, the emergence of distinctive mission strategies for women, the role of the social gospel as a missionary ideology, and the contribution of foreign missions to the creation of a global evangelical network. Contributors: Alvyn AustinRuth Compton Brouwer, Wendy J. Diechmann Edwards, Janet F. Fishburn, Paul Harris, David W. Kling, Charles A. Maxfield III, Susan Wilds McArver, John F. Piper Jr., Dana L. Robert, Richard Lee Rogers, Wilbert R. Shenk, Carol Ann Vaughn. bThis excellent volume will command widespread attention not only for its display of scholarly expertise but for the fresh and revealing light it throws on the principal landmarks and major themes in the history of missionary expansion overseas.b -- Andrew Porter Kingbs College London
