Circulating the Code by Ting Zhang Pdf

Contrary to longtime assumptions about the insular nature of imperial China’s legal system, Circulating the Code demonstrates that in the Qing dynasty (1644–1911) most legal books were commercially published and available to anyone who could afford to buy them. Publishers not only extended circulation of the dynastic code and other legal texts but also enhanced the judicial authority of case precedents and unofficial legal commentaries by making them more broadly available in convenient formats. As a result, the laws no longer represented privileged knowledge monopolized by the imperial state and elites. Trade in commercial legal imprints contributed to the formation of a new legal culture that included the free flow of accurate information, the rise of nonofficial legal experts, a large law-savvy population, and a high litigation rate. Comparing different official and commercial editions of the Qing Code, popular handbooks for amateur legal practitioners, and manuals for community legal lectures, Ting Zhang demonstrates how the dissemination of legal information transformed Chinese law, judicial authority, and popular legal consciousness.

Voicing Code in STEM by Pratim Sengupta,Amanda Dickes,Amy Voss Farris Pdf

An exploration of coding that investigates the interplay between computational abstractions and the fundamentally interpretive nature of human experience. The importance of coding in K-12 classrooms has been taken up by both scholars and educators. Voicing Code in STEM offers a new way to think about coding in the classroom--one that goes beyond device-level engagement to consider the interplay between computational abstractions and the fundamentally interpretive nature of human experience. Building on Mikhail Bakhtin's notions of heterogeneity and heteroglossia, the authors explain how STEM coding can be understood as voicing computational utterances, rather than a technocentric framing of building computational artifacts. Empirical chapters illustrate this theoretical stance by investigating different framings of coding as voicing.

Advances in Information, Communication and Cybersecurity by Yassine Maleh,Mamoun Alazab,Noreddine Gherabi,Lo’ai Tawalbeh,Ahmed A. Abd El-Latif Pdf

This book gathers the proceedings of the International Conference on Information, Communication and Cybersecurity, held on November 10–11, 2021, in Khouribga, Morocco. The conference was jointly coorganized by The National School of Applied Sciences of Sultan Moulay Slimane University, Morocco, and Charles Darwin University, Australia. This book provides an opportunity to account for state-of-the-art works, future trends impacting information technology, communications, and cybersecurity, focusing on elucidating the challenges, opportunities, and inter-dependencies that are just around the corner. This book is helpful for students and researchers as well as practitioners. ICI2C 2021 was devoted to advances in smart information technologies, communication, and cybersecurity. It was considered a meeting point for researchers and practitioners to implement advanced information technologies into various industries. There were 159 paper submissions from 24 countries. Each submission was reviewed by at least three chairs or PC members. We accepted 54 regular papers (34\%). Unfortunately, due to limitations of conference topics and edited volumes, the Program Committee was forced to reject some interesting papers, which did not satisfy these topics or publisher requirements. We would like to thank all authors and reviewers for their work and valuable contributions. The friendly and welcoming attitude of conference supporters and contributors made this event a success!
