The Making of International Citizen by Sankalp Jagati Pdf

Dreams, dreams, dreams...aspirations, fantasies. I get it my way, you get it your way. Rajan (Raja) Chowdhary an Information technology graduate from Gurgaon (IT hub of North India) with a King in his name gets his way. My way, and your way is straight as an "Imarti" (Intricately designed Indian dessert in a circular shape) get in there and do it. Go round & round, will reach somewhere, somehow, someday, if still survive by the end of it. Raja thinks differently, he's wired differently. His philosophy belongs to the "School of Why waste time writing codes, doing lengthy bids; suck on to unpleasant faces (clients) and finally get caught up in performance management, office bullshit and never ending world of doing the same things over and over again to the grave with no guarantees. Set out in the backdrop of IT and services revolution leading to transcontinental migration, Raja shoulders the dream of billions. As Raja moved overseas, he was in for a 'shocker'. Little did Raja know the vagaries of corporate life that he may bump into and get smitten by the beautiful forces followed by chain of events, boardroom drama and some 'Corporate Masala' leading towards the Final Frontier? Who were those Beautiful forces? What were the chain of events and the final frontier..? Did Raja made it till the end. Did he get what he set out to achieve, his way. The Making of "International Citizen" provides a peep into cultural insights, while breaking few stereotypes. Finally the book answers some of the questions of getting where lots of professionals aspire to be one day, narrated in a witty and different approach.

Growing Up and Away by Vijayalakshmi Balakrishnan Pdf

This book aims to expand our understanding of the role of institutions, norms, and key players in shaping the evolution of child rights in India. It traces the evolution of the child rights discourse in post-Independence India, suggesting that there are different and political ways of thinking about childhoods. Divided into three parts, the book begins with analyses of the effects of Partition, which while creating new political and cultural identities framed the child–State relationship. The second part further examines the ways in which the multiplicity of discourses during the nationalist struggle gave way to a singular view, seen in later public conversations on children and their rights. The third part explores the narratives of continuity and change, and maps the departures of memory, history, and identity. The book emphasizes the point that more than any other event or process, the violence and fears aroused by Partition have influenced the course of modern child development related policymaking. The relationship between the political and cultural identities of all the actors, who influenced the experience of childhoods, had also been deeply affected by these events.

Mumbai Fables by Gyan Prakash Pdf

Starting from the catastrophic floods and terrorist attacks of recent years, Prakash reaches back to the sixteenth-century Portuguese conquest to reveal the stories behind Mumbai's historic journey. Examining Mumbai's role as a symbol of opportunity and reinvention, he looks at its nineteenth-century development under British rule and its twentieth-century emergence as a fabled city on the sea. Different layers of urban experience come to light as he recounts the narratives of the Nanavati murder trial and the rise and fall of the tabloid Blitz, and Mumbai's transformation from the red city of trade unions and communists into the saffron city of Hindu nationalist Shiv Sena. Starry-eyed planners and elite visionaries, cynical leaders and violent politicians of the street, land sharks and underworld dons jostle with ordinary citizens and poor immigrants as the city copes with the dashed dreams of postcolonial urban life and lurches into the seductions of globalization. --

Literary Radicalism in India by Priyamvada Gopal Pdf

Literary Radicalism in India situates postcolonial Indian literature in relation to the hugely influential radical literary movements initiated by the Progressive Writers Association and the Indian People's Theatre Association. In so doing, it redresses a visible historical gap in studies of postcolonial India. Through readings of major fiction, pamphlets and cinema, this book also shows how gender was of constitutive importance in the struggle to define 'India' during the transition to independence.

Geospatial Technologies for Resources Planning and Management by Chandra Shekhar Jha,Ashish Pandey,V.M. Chowdary,Vijay Singh Pdf

This book focuses on the application of geospatial technologies for resource planning and management for the key natural resources, e.g. water, agriculture and forest as well as the decision support system (DSS) for infrastructure development. We have seen in the past four decades that the growing complexities of sustainable management of natural resources management have been very challenging. The book has been written to leverage the current geospatial technologies that integrate the remotely sensed data available from various platforms, the precise locational data providing geospatial intelligence, and the advanced integration tools of Geographical Information Systems (GIS). Geospatial technologies have been used for water resources management employing geomorphological characteristics, analysis of river migration pattern, understanding the large-scale hydrological process, wet land classification and monitoring, analysis of glacial lake outburst flood (GLOF), assessment of environmental flow and soil erosion studies, water quality modelling and assessment and rejuvenation of paleochannels through groundwater recharge. Geospatial technologies have been applied for crop classification and mapping, soil moisture determination using RISAT-1 C-band and PALSAR-2 L-band sensors, inventory of horticulture plantations, management of citrus orchards, crop yield forecasting, rice yield estimation, estimation of evapotranspiration and its evaluation against lysimeter and satellite-based evapotranspiration product for India to address the various issues of the agricultural system management. Geospatial technologies have been used for generation of digital elevation model, urban dynamics assessment, mobile GIS application at grass root level planning, cadastral level developmental planning and e-governance applications, system dynamics for sustainable development, micro-level water resources planning, site suitability for sewage treatment plant, traffic density assessment, geographical indications of India, archaeological applications and disasters interventions to elaborate various issues of DSS for infrastructure development and management. Geospatial technologies have been employed for the generation and reconciliation of the notified forest land boundaries, and also the land cover changes analysis within notified forest areas, forest resource assessment, management and monitoring and wildlife conservation and management. This book aims to present high-quality technical case studies representing the recent developments in the “application of geospatial technologies for resource planning and management”. The editors hope that this book will serve as a valuable resource for scientists and researchers to plan and manage land and water resources sustainably.
