Closed Loop Lifecycle Planning by Bruce Michelson Pdf

BETTER SUPPORT, LOWER COSTS: OPTIMIZE YOUR PC HARDWARE LIFECYCLE, FROM ACQUISITION TO DISPOSAL It typically costs four times as much to support a PC as it does to purchase it--often, even more. The solution: Closed Loop Lifecycle Planning®, Bruce Michelson’s comprehensive, proven, best-practice methodology for managing client hardware. Drawing on decades of experience working with Hewlett-Packard’s largest and most complex clients, Michelson shows how to monitor and manage lifecycle tasks systematically and coherently—improving efficiency and driving out cost at every phase of your hardware lifecycle, no matter what that hardware is. Michelson shows IT managers how to segment users to provide the right equipment and support at the lowest cost and offers in-depth guidance on controlling the cost of change. His pragmatic approach fully reflects IT’s business context and addresses crucial related issues, ranging from service delivery to security and risk management. Coverage includes: The core concepts of closed loop lifecycle planning and transitioning to lifecycle management for the first time Effectively managing all three client lifecycle management “suites”: commodity, value, and economic Addressing the business and political challenges associated with PC lifecycle management Optimizing upfront tasks: hardware/software acquisition, interoperability, prototyping, staging, integration, image management, and installation Managing deployed PCs: moves, adds, changes; warranty/maintenance; asset management; help desks; networking; and program management Refreshing technology and securely disposing of hardware at end-of-life Minimizing user downtime and ensuring business continuity Reducing existing costs, avoiding new costs, and learning the broader lessons of closed loop lifecycle planning

It Strategies in the Post-Pandemic Era by Bruce Michelson Pdf

There were many trends in motion pre-pandemic. During the pandemic many of those trends such as changing demographics, remote work, cloud computing, and collaboration were accelerated. We are entering a post-pandemic era where these changes are the new mainstream. IT must embrace, adapt, and change. Change is never simple nor is it easy – our IT legacy represents perhaps our biggest challenge and inhibitor. This book introduces new methodologies and practices for IT - Priority Based Budget and Behavior Driven IT. Priority Based Budget focuses an operational budget, a tactical budget, and a strategic budget. Behavior Driven IT is defined as the identification of meaningful trends in IT and the overall industry, then applying technologies to meet the end user expectations to build the IT infrastructure surrounding the end user. Combined, these new approaches will assist IT to continue its leadership role.

System Lifecycle Management by Martin Eigner Pdf

Years of experience in the area of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) in industry, research and education form the basis for this overview. The author covers the development from PDM via PLM to SysLM (System Lifecycle Management) in the form commonly used today, which are necessary prerequisites for the sustainable development and implementation of IoT/IoS, Industry 4.0 and Engineering 4.0 concepts. The building blocks and properties of future-proof systems for the successful implementation of the concepts of Engineering 4.0 are thereby dedicated to holistic considerations, which also inform in detail. SysLM functions and processes in mechatronic development and design as well as across the entire product lifecycle - from requirements management to the Digital Twin - are covered as examples. SysLM trends such as low code development, cloud, disruptive business models, and bimodality provide an outlook on future developments. The author dedicates the treatment of the agile SysLM introduction to the implementation in the enterprise. The basics are deepened with examples of a concrete SysLM system.

Zero Trust by Bruce Michelson,Cody Gerhardt Pdf

Many of the security counter measures being leveraged by businesses today simply address the past (trust then verify). These tools advise and protect when issues are detected, then the problems can be addressed. There is often a time lag from identification, addressing the issues, and resolving the actual issues. To understand the overall state of security in an organization there are a considerable number of tools required. For the most part, each of these tools have an application agent to be deployed. The result is often a “one of everything” approach. Zero Trust is a framework not a solution. Zero Trust is a part of an ongoing continuous process improvement plan, and should evolve with the times to deliver true security to an organization. The common thread is the ability to identify known vectors of end user satisfaction or organizational risk to address issues. The comment about “known” vectors is the key - security counter measures can only respond to what is known and understood at a particular moment in time. Risk is a very straightforward concept. Risk is either real or not. Closed Loop Lifecycle Planning© in its research called The Risk Cycle© concluded that risk does not have a “gray” area - something is either a risk or not. Our book has challenged the assumption that there is such a thing as “reasonable risk”. The theory of reasonable risk is that businesses and organizations make a conscious decision that a risk is reasonable to take, and then accepts the exposure. Zero Trust would argue that the approach itself is not reasonable.

Building Information Modeling by Marie Bagieu,Régine Teulier Pdf

This book presents how Building Information Modeling (BIM) and the use of shared representation of built assets facilitate design, construction and operation processes (ISO 19650). The modeling of public works data disrupts the art of construction. Written by both academics and engineers who are heavily involved in the French research project Modélisation des INformations INteropérables pour les INfrastructues Durables (MINnD) as well as in international standardization projects, this book presents the challenges of BIM from theoretical and practical perspectives. It provides knowledge for evolving in an ecosystem of federated models and common data environments, which are the basis of the platforms and data spaces. BIM makes it possible to handle interoperability very concretely, using open standards, which lead to openBIM. The use of a platform allows for the merging of business software and for approaches such as a Geographic Information System (GIS) to be added to the processes. In organizations, BIM meets the life cycles of structures and circular economy. It is not only a technique that reshapes cooperation and trades around a digital twin but can also disrupt organizations and business models.

Moving Integrated Product Development to Service Clouds in the Global Economy by J. Stjepandić Pdf

The theory of concurrent engineering is based on the concept that the different phases of a product lifecycle should be conducted concurrently and initiated as early as possible within the product creation process. Concurrent engineering is important in many industries, including automotive, aerospace, shipbuilding, consumer goods and environmental engineering, as well as in the development of new services and service support. This book presents the proceedings of the 21st ISPE Inc. International Conference on Concurrent Engineering, held at Beijing Jiaotong University, China, in September 2014. It is the first volume of a new book series: 'Advances in Transdisciplinary Engineering'. The title of the CE2014 conference is: 'Moving Integrated Product Development to Service Clouds in the Global Economy', which reflects the variety of processes and methods which influence modern product creation. After an initial first section presenting the keynote papers, the remainder of the book is divided into 11 further sections with peer-reviewed papers: product lifecycle management (PLM); knowledge-based engineering (KBE); cloud approaches; 3-D printing applications; design methods; educational methods and achievements; simulation of complex systems; systems engineering; services as innovation and science; sustainability; and recent research on open innovation in concurrent engineering. The book will be of interest to CE researchers, practitioners from industry and public bodies, and educators alike.
