Chemical Kinetics of Gas Reactions by V. N. Kondrat'Ev Pdf

Chemical Kinetics of Gas Reactions explores the advances in gas kinetics and thermal, photochemical, electrical discharge, and radiation chemical reactions. This book is composed of 10 chapters, and begins with the presentation of general kinetic rules for simple and complex chemical reactions. The next chapters deal with the experimental methods for evaluating chemical reaction mechanisms and some theories of elementary chemical processes. These topics are followed by discussions on certain class of chemical reactions, including unimolecular, bimolecular, and termolecular reactions. The remaining chapters examine gas reactions, such as molecular collisions, photochemical reactions, chemical reactions in electrical discharge, chain reactions, and combustion. This book will be of value to reaction kinetics engineers and researchers.

Chemistry 2e is designed to meet the scope and sequence requirements of the two-semester general chemistry course. The textbook provides an important opportunity for students to learn the core concepts of chemistry and understand how those concepts apply to their lives and the world around them. The book also includes a number of innovative features, including interactive exercises and real-world applications, designed to enhance student learning. The second edition has been revised to incorporate clearer, more current, and more dynamic explanations, while maintaining the same organization as the first edition. Substantial improvements have been made in the figures, illustrations, and example exercises that support the text narrative. Changes made in Chemistry 2e are described in the preface to help instructors transition to the second edition.

Kinetic Processes in Gases and Plasmas by A Hochstim Pdf

Kinetic Processes in Gases and Plasmas provides a survey of studies on transport and chemical kinetic processes in high temperature gases and plasmas. The book is concerned with conditions produced by the interaction of an object with the atmosphere at hypersonic velocities. The text also provides a foundation for the flow field equations which include chemical reactions and other transport processes, and to present in some detail the microscopic considerations underlying these calculations. Chapters are devoted to the discussion of topics such as the molecular theory of transport equations; transport processes in ionized gases; and inelastic energy transfer processes and chemical kinetics. Aerospace engineers, physicists, chemists, and astrophysicists will find the book a good reference material.

Quantum Theory of Chemical Reactions by R. Daudel,A. Pullman,L. Salem,A. Veillard Pdf

This treatise is devoted to an analysis of the present state of the quantum theory of chemical reactions. It will be divided into three volumes and will contain the contributions to an international seminar organized by the editors. The first one, is concerned with the fundamental problems which occur when studying a gas phase reaction or a reaction for which the solvent effect is not taken into account. The two first papers show how the collision theory can be used to predict the behaviour of interacting small molecules. For large molecules the complete calculations are not possible. We can only estimate the reaction path by calculating important areas of the potential surfaces. Four papers are concerned with this important pro cess. Furthermore, in one of these, the electronic reorganization which occurs along the reaction path is carefully analyzed. ~~o papers are devoted to the discussion of general rules as aromaticity rules, symmetry rules. The last two papers are concerned with the electrostatic molecular poten tial method which is the modern way of using static indices to establish relations between structure and chemical reactivity. Volume II will be devoted to a detailed analysis of the role of the solvent and volume III will present important applications as reaction mechanisms, photochemistry, catalysis, biochemical reactions and drug design. SOME RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN THE MOLECULAR TREATMENT OF ATOM-ATOM COLLISIONS.

Collision Processes in Gases by Frederick Latham Arnot Pdf

"This book is based on a course of lectures which I gave to advanced students in physics and chemistry in the University of St. Andrews during the winter of 1931-1932. Its main object is to assist those who are about to begin experimental research on problems involving the collision of electrons, photons and positive ions with atoms and molecules of a gas at low pressures"--Page v.

Physical Chemistry of Fast Reactions by B. Levitt Pdf

The chapters in this book are devoted to the elementary reactions of small molecules in the gas phase, with some emphasis on reactions important in combustion. The first three chapters cover experimental measurements made at high temperatures, mainly using shock waves and flames; the final chapter describes discharge flow methods near room temperature. The authors-all active in the fields they describe were asked to aim at a level intermediate between a textbook and a review, designed for readers not already familiar with this branch of chemical kinetics. We hope the book will prove especially useful to research workers in related subjects, to research students, and perhaps as source material for the preparation of lectures. The examples have been chosen to illustrate the theoretical basis of the topics rather than attempt a complete coverage. Professors Wagner and Troe describe the remarkable progress made in recent years in measuring dissociation rates for small molecules. Tests ofunimolecular reaction theories are usually made in the 'fall-off' region of pressure: the kinetics change from first order to second order as the pressure is reduced. For large molecules this region lies below atmospheric pressure and is relatively easily accessible. For molecules with four or less atoms, however, the fall-off region lies well above atmospheric pressure: it has been explored using the high pressure shock tube techniques developed by the authors.

Reaction Kinetics by Keith J. Laidler Pdf

Reactions Kinetics: Volume I: Homogeneous Gas Reactions presents a general introduction to the subject of kinetics, including the basic laws of kinetics and the theoretical treatment of reaction rates. This four-chapter book deals mainly with homogeneous reactions in the gas phase. Chapter 1 presents the kinetic laws based on experimental results in terms of their simple concepts, with a special consideration of the way in which rates depend on concentration, while Chapter 2 deals with the interpretation of rates in terms of more fundamental theories. Chapter 3 covers the overall reactions that are believed to be elementary, such as the reaction between hydrogen and iodine, the reverse decomposition of hydrogen iodide, the corresponding reactions involving deuterium instead of hydrogen, and the dimerizations of butadiene and cyclopentadiene, as well as a few elementary termolecular reactions, all involving nitric oxide. This chapter also includes a general account of some of the elementary reactions that occur as steps in more complex mechanisms. Chapter 4 examines the reaction rates of numerous complex gas reactions. Undergraduate physical chemistry and chemical kinetics students, as well as advanced students in other fields, such as biology and physics, will find this book invaluable.
