Never Give Up on Your Dream by Warren Moon Pdf

Inducted in 2006, Warren Moon is the only African-American quarterback in the NFL Hall of Fame. His path to success was neither easy nor assured. As a seven-year-old growing up in Los Angeles, he lost his father to alcoholism and helped his single mom raise six sisters. Playing football as a kid, coaches questioned whether, because he was black, he had the smarts to play quarterback. Repeatedly asked to switch to another position, Moon refused, knowing that he had both the ability and the intelligence. In college, he played at the University of Washington, beating the Michigan Wolverines in the Rose Bowl. Undrafted by the NFL, he went to Canada and played for the Edmonton Eskimos, leading his team to five consecutive championships. In 1984, he signed with the Houston Oilers and played for the Oilers, Seattle Seahawks, Minnesota Vikings, and Kansas City Chiefs over his 17-year career. This is the triumphant story of how Warren Moon overcame all obstacles to become one of the Top 5 quarterbacks of all time.

In praise of You Are Gods Best Idea! Divine Acceptations and Living the Undeniable Life: In You Are Gods Best Idea! Divine Acceptations and Living the Undeniable Life, Douglas E. Holzmeier does an amazing job of helping us understand that life is essentially a spiritual experience whether we are aware of it or not. We could not be any more spiritual if we tried because life is a sacred continuum. There is no area of our lives that is any more, or less, spiritual than another...spirituality is the conscious mindful practice of the awareness of Gods presence in every holy instant. This book is a call to awakening--to help you remember to remember that on the day you were born God had a One-derful idea; a desire to know Itself and express Itself in an entirely new and unique way...and that idea is YOU. ~ Dennis Merritt Jones, Author of The Art of Being~101 Ways to Practice Purpose in Your Life

Performance in Popular Culture by Sharon Mazer Pdf

Performance in Popular Culture reveals the intricate relationship between performance and popular culture by exploring how theatrical conventions and dramaturgical tropes have informed the way the social is constructed for popular consumption. Staged as a series of case studies, this book considers the diverse ways the social is imagined and produced in live and mediated performances, in images and texts, in interactive experiences and in cultural institutions. By looking at performance in popular culture, the world we live in becomes more visible, open to investigation and (perhaps) to change. Performance in Popular Culture engages a wide range of disciplines and theoretical frameworks: performance, theatre and cultural studies; comparative literature and media studies; gender and sexuality, critical race and post-colonial theories. Designed for accessibility at an undergraduate level, the case studies make use of visual materials, moving images and texts that are readily available to lecturers and students, to scholars and to the general public.

Life on the Color Line by Gregory Howard Williams Pdf

“Heartbreaking and uplifting… a searing book about race and prejudice in America… brims with insights that only someone who has lived on both sides of the racial divide could gain.”—Cleveland Plain Dealer “A triumph of storytelling as well as a triumph of spirit.”—Alex Kotlowitz, award-winning author of There Are No Children Here As a child in 1950s segregated Virginia, Gregory Howard Williams grew up believing he was white. But when the family business failed and his parents’ marriage fell apart, Williams discovered that his dark-skinned father, who had been passing as Italian-American, was half black. The family split up, and Greg, his younger brother, and their father moved to Muncie, Indiana, where the young boys learned the truth about their heritage. Overnight, Greg Williams became black. In this extraordinary and powerful memoir, Williams recounts his remarkable journey along the color line and illuminates the contrasts between the black and white worlds: one of privilege, opportunity and comfort, the other of deprivation, repression, and struggle. He tells of the hostility and prejudice he encountered all too often, from both blacks and whites, and the surprising moments of encouragement and acceptance he found from each. Life on the Color Line is a uniquely important book. It is a wonderfully inspiring testament of purpose, perseverance, and human triumph. Winner of the Los Angeles Times Book Prize

Live Your Dream by Mary Lee Pdf

As I reflect on my memories, I often break down periods of life into four areas. I have heard throughout life about the golden days or the winter of ones life. I never quite understood why this period was important but it always intrigued me. Well, I have reached those golden days of life and as I look back, I find that life is pretty standard and everyone goes through the same or similar experiences at some time along the way. I am taking the liberty of using references to the progression of life from experiences of many with whom I have had the pleasure of knowing and befriending and from experiences in my own life. Join Mary Lee in between the pages of this book and witness the complete changes in her life as a positive experience for others in future years.

What's The Worst That Can Happen? by James McDonald Pdf

In 2006, I was told by a spirit guide that I would write a book. Yes, I see spirits. “That sounds good but what story had I to tell? Tell the story of how you came from the slums of Glasgow, pushed away your gifts of ‘sixth sense’ and rediscovered them as an adult.” Okay, from the slums of Glasgow to discovering that you’re a psychic in your late forties sounds good but the part in between might sound uninteresting. “Think about it,” I was told, “You will soon be given the opportunity to write.” My life was to follow two paths; communicating with spirit and learning to replace fear with love. My guidance came from two sources; spirit and dreams. My childhood had been a ‘lie’ and I came to realise that much of my adult life was a ‘lie’ also. I wasn’t quite the person that I thought I was. During my childhood I had been abused by my father, a person I was supposed to trust. When anything horrific happened to me I would pretend that it never happened. Unfortunately, I continued with this habit as an adult and would have difficulty facing up to anything. I had two options: run, as I had been doing, or face the truth about myself. I opted for the latter. Today I do not acknowledge negativity. I learn from every experience and think positively. It does help somewhat when the guidance that I receive is ‘out of this world!’

Upon This Ground I Trod by Patrick A. Morrison, MSW Pdf

Upon This Ground I Trod: The Immigrant Journey Continues By: Patrick A. Morrison, MSW Upon This Ground I Trod: The Immigrant Journey Continues is the continuation of Patrick A. Morrison's first book, Before Common Ground: Journey of an Immigrant Football Player, and gives a behind-the-scenes look of the life of an NFL rookie and the challenges Morrison faced during his life transitions. As an NFL rookie, Pat attempts to navigate the politics of professional football with the hopes of providing the quality of life that he yearns for, not just for himself but for his mother and newborn daughter. Endurance, perseverance, and resilience push Pat to strive for success in the face of setbacks and never give up on his dream. “Having recruited Pat to Southern Connecticut back in 1982, I have had the pleasure of watching Pat grow and develop exponentially as a football player and more importantly as a man. He fulfills his responsibilities as a husband and father with the same ferocity he exhibited with his tackles on the football field. I could not be prouder of the example Pat has set for all young men who wish to make a positive difference in our country.” Kevin Gilbride: 2X Superbowl Champion Coach
