E-Commerce and Web Technologies by Tommaso Noia,Francesco Buccafurri Pdf

After the initial enthusiastic initiatives and investments and the eventual bubble, el- tronic commerce (EC) has changed and evolved into a well-established and founded reality both from a technological point of view and from a scientific one. Nevert- less, together with its evolution, new challenges and topics have emerged as well as new questions have been raised related to many aspects of EC. Keeping in mind the experience and the tradition of the past editions of EC-Web, we tried, for its 10th edition, to introduce some meaningful innovations about the structure and the sci- tific organization of the conference. Our main target was to highlight the autonomous role of the different (sometimes heterogeneous) aspects of EC, without missing their interdisciplinary scope. This required the conference to be organized into four “mi- conferences," each for a relevant area of EC and equipped with a corresponding Area Chair. Both the submission and the review process took into account the organization into four tracks, namely: “Service-Oriented E-Commerce and Business Processes,” “Recommender Systems,” “E-Payment, Security and Trust” and “Electronic C- merce and Web 3. 0. ” Therefore, the focus of the conference was to cover aspects related to the theoretical foundation of EC, business processes as well as new - proaches exploiting recently emerged technologies and scenarios such as the Semantic Web, Web services, SOA architectures, mobile and ubiquitous computing, just to cite a few.

Handbook of Conceptual Modeling by David W. Embley,Bernhard Thalheim Pdf

Conceptual modeling is about describing the semantics of software applications at a high level of abstraction in terms of structure, behavior, and user interaction. Embley and Thalheim start with a manifesto stating that the dream of developing information systems strictly by conceptual modeling – as expressed in the phrase “the model is the code” – is becoming reality. The subsequent contributions written by leading researchers in the field support the manifesto's assertions, showing not only how to abstractly model complex information systems but also how to formalize abstract specifications in ways that let developers complete programming tasks within the conceptual model itself. They are grouped into sections on programming with conceptual models, structure modeling, process modeling, user interface modeling, and special challenge areas such as conceptual geometric modeling, information integration, and biological conceptual modeling. The Handbook of Conceptual Modeling collects in a single volume many of the best conceptual-modeling ideas, techniques, and practices as well as the challenges that drive research in the field. Thus it is much more than a traditional handbook for advanced professionals, as it also provides both a firm foundation for the field of conceptual modeling, and points researchers and graduate students towards interesting challenges and paths for how to contribute to this fundamental field of computer science.

Data Warehouse Automation by Martin Gandalson Pdf

The definitive guide to actually building your data warehouse... Utilizing recent technology, small companies can finally build a data warehouse at a very affordable cost, and keep the design (and the data!) in-house. Large companies can now build and maintain their data warehouses better than ever before: faster, cheaper, more secure, and more agile. In fact, in this hands-on guide we will show the step-by-step development of an actual data warehouse prototype, using free-trial tools. This is a practical hands-on guide, and we will stick to the relevant topics that are important to someone who actually wants to build a DW as soon as possible. We won't be pontificating on academic positions, nor fluffing up the word count. We assume that you are more anxious to roll up your sleeves and get started than to debate theory with purists. Yet at the same time, we will detail the necessary planning that you must conduct in order to maximize the success of your data warehouse program. Along the way, we will identify and avoid the common pitfalls that can lead to failure. By following this step-by-step guide, you can create a data warehouse for your company or organization. You will not need a large budget. You will not need expensive outside consultants. You will not need to share your data outside your company. You will not need specialized skills beyond those of a typical database programmer or database administrator. Yes, you can build a data warehouse: on a small budget, completely in-house, using only your current database employee(s). Martin Gandalson will show you how, step by step. This toolkit can be used to build any data warehouse, data mart, or webhouse.

Gain the skills to effectively plan software applications and systems using the latest version of UML UML 2 represents a significant update to the UML specification, from providing more robust mechanisms for modeling workflow and actions to making the modeling language more executable. Now in its second edition, this bestselling book provides you with all the tools you'll need for effective modeling with UML 2. The authors get you up to speed by presenting an overview of UML and its main features. You'll then learn how to apply UML to produce effective diagrams as you progress through more advanced topics such as use-case diagrams, classes and their relationships, dynamic diagrams, system architecture, and extending UML. The authors take you through the process of modeling with UML so that you can successfully deliver a software product or information management system. With the help of numerous examples and an extensive case study, this book teaches you how to: * Organize, describe, assess, test, and realize use cases * Gain substantial information about a system by using classes * Utilize activity diagrams, state machines, and interaction diagrams to handle common issues * Extend UML features for specific environment or domains * Use UML as part of a Model Driven Architecture initiative * Apply an effective process for using UML The CD-ROM contains all of the UML models and Java?TM code for a complete application, Java?TM 2 Platform, Standard Edition, Version 1.4.1, and links to the Web sites for vendors of UML 2 tools.

Schaum's Outline of UML by Simon Bennett,John Skelton,Ken Lunn Pdf

In the more than seven years since the Object Management Group (OMG) adopted the Unified Modeling Language (UML), UML has established itself as the de facto industry standard for modeling software systems In 2001 OMG put together a task force to revise UML Version 1.0. In March of 2003, UML Version 2.0 was finalized and rolled out to the 35 major companies participating in the adoption effort and made available to the public. This book provides a step-by-step guide to the notation and use of UML, one of the most widely used, object-oriented notation systems/programming languages in existence. The outline demonstrates the use of the techniques and notation of UML through case studies in systems analysis, showing the student clearly how UML is used in all kinds of practical situations. This revised edition will discuss the new infrastructure of the latest UML Version 2.0, and will include new examples, review questions, and notations.
