Henry Frye by Howard E. Covington, Jr. Pdf

Henry E. Frye came of age just as the South was beginning a transformational change. When he graduated from college in 1953, African Americans like him could only hope that the future would be different from the past. At the close of his public career in 2001, he was chief justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court--the head of the state's third branch of government. Throughout their lives, Frye and his wife, Shirley, were in the vanguard of the advances that shaped the lives of African Americans. His election to the state legislature in 1968 was the beginning of steady, determined efforts to expand opportunities for African Americans in politics, business and society at large. This book traces, along with his career, the growing participation of African Americans in the civic, political and social life of North Carolina.

Tale of Two Brothers by Daniel Fernandez Masis Pdf

Hello my friendly readers! I am excitedly sharing my first professional review. Enjoy!INDIE READER REVIEW: 4.7/5.0!!!! (https: //indiereader.com/2019/01/tale-of-two-brothers/)Verdict: There's a lot for readers to like in author Daniel Fernández Masís' fusion of suspense and insight into the human condition in the TALE OF TWO BROTHERS, attempting to stop a deranged despot in the aftermath of a natural cataclysm that decimates natural resources across earth. In the aftermath of a natural cataclysm that decimated natural resources across earth, two brothers set up camp in an abandoned area of what was once the United States. Due to the paucity of resources, the brothers face unimaginable perils each day from marauders and herds of gangs pillaging anything in their path. Paranoia and adrenaline are constant realities for the two brothers; peace is a mirage. One day, one of the brothers, Jay, is kidnapped by a renegade gang, which is capturing and enslaving as many people as they can in an effort to gain control of the region. Nathan, the other brother, plots to save Jay and meets Silver, a sort of femme fatale, who is about as good at combat as the guys are. Eventually, all three plot a rebellion against the marauding gang, led by a thug named Cold, who is seeking a national tyranny of sorts and burning villages that oppose him. The last part of the book-which on occasion descends into rambling action scenes-feels almost like a flashback to Vietnam, but in an Americanized milieu.Author Daniel Fernández Masís imbues his prose throughout TALE OF TWO BROTHERS with indelible internal soliloquies by the characters, ones that are both stirring battle cries for human freedom, but also valuable insights into humanity coerced into extreme conditions. This is a dystopia, no doubt, but it is not one without hope, and this sense of fatalistic optimism carries the book beyond its depressing and often brutal surroundings. "When death seems to hover over you every day, people will heartbreakingly let go of the possibility of change," Masís writes . "But hope never vanishes completely. Thoughts and feelings deep within our minds and souls hang on, in solitude, to the notion of life without restraints and violence."There's a lot for readers to like in author Daniel Fernández Masís' fusion of suspense and insight into the human condition in the TALE OF TWO BROTHERS, attempting to stop a deranged despot in the aftermath of a natural cataclysm that decimates natural resources across earth. The Law of Happiness by Dr. Henry Cloud Pdf

Since the beginning of time, people have searched for happiness and have amassed many and varied opinions on how it is found. Only recently has empirical science devoted extensive research to questions such as: Is happiness within our control? What role does God play in making people happy? How do I close the gap between where I want?Drawing from the latest scientific and psychological research on the quest for happiness, The Law of Happiness reveals that the spiritual truths of the Bible hold the secrets to the happiness we desire. As Dr Henry Cloud unpacks theseuniversal, eternal principles, he reveals that true happiness is not about circumstances, physical health, financialsuccess, or even about the people in our lives. In other words, it's not about the factors that are frequently beyond our control. Rather, happiness is found in choosing to become the kind of people God created us to be. With chapter titles like 'Happy People Connect', 'Happy People Are Envy-Free' and 'Happy People Forgive', Dr Cloud shows just how happiness is achieved as he sets readers on a pathway of spiritual transformation that connects them with the God of the universe. With these new tools, readers will discover that their relationships, their careers and their inner selves are infused with the joy they've been seeking.

Success God's Way by Charles F. Stanley Pdf

"Success is defined by a continuing desire to be the person God called you to be and to achieve those goals that God helps you to set," says Charles Stanley. In Success God's Way, Stanley teaches God's principles for success, including ten steps to help you reach God's goals in your life, and what to do about the seven success blockers that entangle believers. "Dr. Stanley has defined success in a timeless manner?knowing and doing the will of God. When a person knows Christ personally and consistently obeys the principles of Scripture, he is prepared for success God's way." ?Franklin Graham, Chairman and CEO, Samaritan's Purse; CEO, Billy Graham evangelistic Association "In a society that increasingly judges the success of individuals by the clothes they wear, the car they drive, the club they belong to, or the career they choose, the church desperately needs to reaffirm biblical standards. Once again, Dr. Stanley has brought clear focus to a timely issue. Success God's Way challenges readers to reexamine whether or not they are sacrificing genuine, lasting success on the altar of a worldly, temporary counterfeit and therefore sesttling for a lot less than what God wants to give them." ?Anne Graham Lotz, International Bible Teacher and Bestselling Author "In an age when our thinking is skewed, our zeal is waning, and our desire for excellence is deadened by apathetic self-centeredness, this book presents many biblical insights that challenge us to hear God's Word to Joshua to meditate on God's Word and be strong and courageous so we can have success." ?Kay Arthur, Precept Ministries International
