Constant Vigilance by Nigel W.M. Warwick Pdf

The RAF Regiment was created in the early years of World War II for the active dedicated defense of RAF airfields and installations. This book concerns the Regiments operational history in South-east Asia Command and draws on the diaries and recollections of the men who served in that theatre. It is strongly supported by maps and diagrams from official records. The Regiment played a vital and significant role in the two major battles for Burma, Imphal and Meiktila. The struggle at Imphal ranks alongside Stalingrad and Alamein in its significance for the defeat of the Axis. From humble beginnings, the Regiment in Burma had by 1945 become a highly-trained specialist ground force capable of defensive and offensive action. The successes of the 14th Army were founded on the support of the transport, fighter and bomber squadrons. The RAF could not have done this as effectively without the confidence that its airfields and vital installations were safe under the constant vigilance of the RAF Regiment.

Constant Vigilance by Will Stevenson Pdf

"The condition upon which God hath given liberty to man is eternal vigilance; which condition if he breaks, servitude is at once the consequence of his crime and the punishment of his guilt." Exactly who first uttered this phrase is somewhat in dispute. It has been attributed to a number of the founding fathers of the United States. This phrase has more relevance today than at any time in the history of the United States or in the history of Mankind. Not only do we need to guard our liberty from the abuse of the power and authority that we have granted to our government, we also need to guard against the abuse of power garnered by multinational corporations. This story chronicles the development of Constant Vigilance in an ordinary guy who by happenstance finds himself in the cross hairs of powerful forces determined to control and prevent the spread of information that may harm their interest. The circumstances he stumbles into threaten his safety and his way of life. His path to understanding tests his beliefs and relationships. In the final analysis, the road less traveled may be the only option left.

Eternal Vigilance? by Christopher Andrew,Rhodri Jeffreys-Jones Pdf

Eternal Vigilance? seeks to offer reinterpretations of some of the major established themes in CIA history such as its origins, foundations, its treatment of the Soviet threat, the Iranian revolution and the accountability of the agency. The book also opens new areas of research such as foreign liaison, relations with the scientific community, use of scientific and technical research and economic intelligence. The articles are both by well-known scholars in the field and young researchers at the beginning of their academic careers. Contributors come almost equally from both sides of the Atlantic. All draw, to varying degrees, on recently declassified documents and newly-available archives and, as the final chapter seeks to show, all point the way to future research.

American Serfdom Vs. Eternal Vigilance Is the Price of Liberty by Bridger Daquan Pdf

The citizens of the United States are being held hostage by international banking cartels, the Federal Reserve System, and fundamentalist Christian views. In American Serfdom vs. Eternal Vigilance is the Price of Liberty, author Bridger Daquan searches for the truth and explores this topic by examining the history and the issues that have led to this serfdom. In this serious discussion, Daquan advocates disbanding the Federal Reserve System, which was established in 1913. He recommends that the United States, its leaders, and its citizens remain true to the countrys original founding documents including the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. American Serfdom vs. Eternal Vigilance is the Price of Liberty strongly urges United States citizens and its leaders to oppose a one world banking and currency system that will destroy the Constitution and the principles identified in the nations founding documents. Daquan seeks to avoid the enslavement of the American people.

Eternal Vigilance by Ralph L. Bayrer Pdf

Your argument of how to protect the goose that laid the golden egg by defending freedom, civil society, and capitalism from the pernicious effects of Progressivism seems compelling to me. Moreover your account of the rise of progressivism in the U.S.is must reading for anyone who would take a stand on political issues. And no one who reads your accounts of the rise and fall of free-people-free market models of government in other societies can fail to agree with you about the value of government allowing the market to operate as freely as possible. It is a very informative summary of an enormous amount of data that I have not seen elsewhere, and a powerful empirical argument. - Phillip Scribner, Associate Professor of Philosophy Emeritus, American University

Feminist Vigilance by Patty Sotirin,Victoria L. Bergvall,Diane L. Shoos Pdf

This collection advances vigilance as a critical feminist concept and strategy for addressing contemporary challenges. The assembled chapters develop feminist vigilance by elaborating concrete examples that emphasize action, ethics, and hope. Chapter authors expand on current feminist discussions about such issues as Black women’s self-care and anticipatory vigilance; media portrayals of race, gender, and violence; religion and social justice; technofeminist activism; postcolonial feminist critique; research ethics; and collective civic action. The contributions engage with larger discussions of social precarity, public anxiety, post-feminist appeals, and future feminist trajectories. Particular benefits of the collection include relatable content based in contemporary experiences, insightful and pragmatic conceptions of vigilance from feminist perspectives, and critical engagement with issues of intersectionality, agency, embodiment, and care ethics. The collection aims to address the need for productive academic responses to contemporary challenges to gendered identities, feminism, and intersectional relations that avoid abstractions or overwhelmingly negative analyses. Instead, this collection invites readers to engage in feminist vigilance as a fresh perspective, commitment, and strategy.

Foucault's Askesis by Edward F. McGushin Pdf

In his renowned courses at the Collège de France from 1982 to 1984, Michel Foucault devoted his lectures to meticulous readings and interpretations of the works of Plato, Epictetus, Seneca, and Marcus Aurelius, among others. In this his aim was not, Edward F. McGushin contends, to develop a new knowledge of the history of philosophy; rather, it was to let himself be transformed by the very activity of thinking. Thus, this work shows us Foucault in the last phase of his life in the act of becoming a philosopher. Here we see how his encounter with ancient philosophy allowed him to experience the practice of philosophy as, to paraphrase Nietzsche, a way of becoming who one is: the work of self-formation that the Greeks called askēsis. Through a detailed study of Foucault's last courses, McGushin demonstrates that this new way of practicing philosophical askēsis evokes Foucault's ethical resistance to modern relations of power and knowledge. In order to understand Foucault's later project, then, it is necessary to see it within the context of his earlier work. If his earlier projects represented an attempt to bring to light the relations of power and knowledge that narrowed and limited freedom, then this last project represents his effort to take back that freedom by redefining it in terms of care of the self. Foucault always stressed that modern power functions by producing individual subjects. This book shows how his excavation of ancient philosophical practices gave him the tools to counter this function-with a practice of self-formation, an askēsis.

The Male Factor by Shaunti Feldhahn Pdf

Based on a nationwide survey and confidential interviews with more than three thousand men, bestselling author of For Women Only, Shaunti Feldhahn, has written a startling and unprecedented exploration of how men in the workplace tend to think, which even the most astute women might otherwise miss. In The Male Factor, Feldhahn investigates and quantifies the private thoughts that men almost never publicly reveal or admit to, but that every woman will want to know. Never before has an author gotten inside the hearts and minds of men in the workplace—from CEOs to managers, from lawyers to factory workers—to get a comprehensive and confidential picture of what men commonly think about their female colleagues, how they view flextime and equal compensation, what their expected “rules” of the workplace are, what managing emotion means, and how that lowcut top is perceived. Because the men in the surveys and interviews were guaranteed anonymity, they talk in a candid and uncensored way about their daily interactions with women bosses, employees, and colleagues, as well as what they see as the most common forces of friction and misunderstanding between men and women at work. Among the subjects The Male Factor tackles are: • how men, with rare exception, view almost any emotional display as a sign that the person can no longer think clearly—as well as what they perceive to be “emotion” in the first place (it’s not just crying) • why certain trendy clothes that women wear may create a career-sabotaging land mine in terms of how male colleagues perceive them • the unintentional signals that can change a man’s perception of a woman from “assertive and competent” to “difficult” Women will likely be surprised, even shocked, by these revelations. Some may find them challenging. Yet what they will gain is an invaluable understanding of how their male bosses, colleagues, subordinates, and customers react to a host of situations—as well as the ability to correct common misperceptions. The Male Factor offers a unique road map to what men in the workplace are thinking, allowing women the opportunity to decide for themselves how to use the insights Feldhahn reveals.

Does My Child Have Ptsd? by Jolene Philo Pdf

A mother, advocate, and educator shares research and personal experience in this guide to help anyone care for children dealing with PTSD. Is it possible that the struggles you have with your child may be because he or she suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)? Once ignored, even by the medical professionals treating war veterans, PTSD is gaining global recognition as a very real and serious issue for those who have experienced traumatic events, even children. When children experience medical illness, witness violence, or are abused, it can leave a lasting effect. According to recent studies, 50 to 60 percent of children who experience these traumas early in life may suffer from a form of PTSD, leading to issues in childhood, through adolescence, and even into adulthood. Does My Child Have PTSD? is designed for readers looking for answers about the puzzling, disturbing behaviors of children in their care. With years of research and personal experience, Philo provides critical information to help people understand causes, symptoms, prevention, and effective diagnosis, treatment, and care for any child struggling with PTSD. “Philo’s dramatic story will capture the reader's attention, and there’s tremendous value in her patient explanations, from a simple definition of trauma to an exploration of PTSD causes, myths, and common terminology. . . . Though occasionally heart-wrenching, the book is organized so simply and logically as to be easy to follow and digest. Each chapter ends with “reflection questions” and additional valuable resources. Philo concludes on a hopeful note, providing encouragement and reassurance for other families in similar situations.” —Publishers Weekly, Starred Review
