Behavior and Design of High-Strength Constructional Steel by Guo-Qiang Li,Yan-Bo Wang Pdf

Behavior and Design of High-Strength Constructional Steel presents readers with extensive information on the behavior of high-strength constructional steels, providing them with the confidence they need to use them in a safe and economic manner to design and construct steel structures. The book includes detailed discussions on the mechanical properties of HHS while explaining the latest progress in research and design guidelines, including material properties at ambient and elevated temperatures. In addition, the book explains the behavior of elementary members subject to different types of loads and load combinations, and those that are integral to the design of bolted and welded connections. The hysteretic behavior of HHS materials and members are also discussed. This is critical for application and designs under earthquakes and fire conditions. The buckling behaviors of HSS box-section and H-section columns are included in terms of experimental and numerical investigations, along with the geometric imperfection induced by welding. Provides a comprehensive review on the topic of high-strength constructional steel and the latest progress in research and design guidelines Explains the behavior of elementary members subjected to different types of loads and load combinations Recommends structural systems for using high-strength constructional steels in seismic zones

Structural Steel Design by Abi O. Aghayere,Jason Vigil Pdf

Structural Steel Design, Third Edition is a simple, practical, and concise guide to structural steel design – using the Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) and the Allowable Strength Design (ASD) methods -- that equips the reader with the necessary skills for designing real-world structures. Civil, structural, and architectural engineering students intending to pursue careers in structural design and consulting engineering, and practicing structural engineers will find the text useful because of the holistic, project-based learning approach that bridges the gap between engineering education and professional practice. The design of each building component is presented in a way such that the reader can see how each element fits into the entire building design and construction process. Structural details and practical example exercises that realistically mirror what obtains in professional design practice are presented. Features: - Includes updated content/example exercises that conform to the current codes (ASCE 7, ANSI/AISC 360-16, and IBC) - Adds coverage to ASD and examples with ASD to parallel those that are done LRFD - Follows a holistic approach to structural steel design that considers the design of individual steel framing members in the context of a complete structure. Structural Steel Design by Jack C. McCormac Pdf

the undergraduate course in structural steel design using the Load and Resistance Factor Design Method (LRFD). The text also enables practicing engineers who have been trained to use the Allowable Stress Design procedure (ASD) to change easily to this more economical and realistic method for proportioning steel structures. The book comes with problem-solving software tied to chapter exercises which allows student to specify parameters for particular problems and have the computer assist them. On-screen information about how to use the software and the significance of various problem parameters is featured. The second edition reflects the revised steel specifications (LRFD) of the American Institute of Steel Construction.

Design of Steel Structures by Elias G. Abu-Saba Pdf

This book is intended for classroom teaching in architectural and civil engineering at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Although it has been developed from lecture notes given in structural steel design, it can be useful to practicing engineers. Many of the examples presented in this book are drawn from the field of design of structures. Design of Steel Structures can be used for one or two semesters of three hours each on the undergraduate level. For a two-semester curriculum, Chapters 1 through 8 can be used during the first semester. Heavy emphasis should be placed on Chapters 1 through 5, giving the student a brief exposure to the consideration of wind and earthquakes in the design of buildings. With the new federal requirements vis a vis wind and earthquake hazards, it is beneficial to the student to have some under standing of the underlying concepts in this field. In addition to the class lectures, the instructor should require the student to submit a term project that includes the complete structural design of a multi-story building using standard design procedures as specified by AISC Specifications. Thus, the use of the AISC Steel Construction Manual is a must in teaching this course. In the second semester, Chapters 9 through 13 should be covered. At the undergraduate level, Chapters 11 through 13 should be used on a limited basis, leaving the student more time to concentrate on composite construction and built-up girders.
