COVID-19 is not the only global challenge that the world is facing these days. The infodemic, based on the pandemic (COVID-19), is another serious challenge for the world at this time. Each flare-up is joined with a large volume of data and information; however, this data can be based on deception, gossip, rumors, and more. Misinformation not only impacts the human body negatively but also impacts mental health. The infodemic has an impact on human health and professional performance, but also leaks into business organizations in terms of financial matters, employees' psychological and physical health, employee performance, and the organization’s performance. The misinformation regarding health issues can disturb business organizations and affect the employees, organizations’ market share and financial matters, future firing and hiring policies of the organizations, and international operations of the companies. Though the COVID-19 pandemic may be over in time, the impact of the relevant infodemic will continue to disrupt business organizations for several years into the future. Impact of Infodemic on Organizational Performance highlights the impact of the infodemic due to the pandemic (COVID-19) in organizations’ performance and enhances the understanding of how the infodemic can and has negatively impacted employees as well as organizational performance. This is supplemented by a view of how organizations are tackling the infodemic and how business organizations can recover from the lasting negative impacts. This book highlights essential topics such as social media, knowledge management, business environments, business strategies, employee behavior, and mental health. The target audience includes but is not limited to managers, executives, human resource development, counselors, analysts, business organizations, practitioners, researchers, academicians, and students who are interested in the impacts of the infodemic on businesses and their employees and the relevant strategies to combat the effects.

The Early Effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic on International Trade and the World Economy by Tardzenyuy Achileus Pdf

Seminar paper from the year 2021 in the subject Economics - International Economic Relations, , language: English, abstract: This text discusses the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on international trade and the world economy, focussing both on importing and exporting countries. First, the paper gives an overview of the general global impact of the pandemic, before discussing the economic effects on international trade. It then addresses an increase in trade costs and a decrease in productivity, as well as the impact travel restrictions had on the economy. The next part focusses on importing and exporting countries and lists the effects the pandemic and its restrictions had on both groups, respectively. In the final part, the paper elaborates on other ways in which COVID-19 has had an impact on the world economy, such as the loss of jobs because of business closures, therefore increased poverty and, as a consequence thereof, reduced purchasing power in the population. The coronavirus causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The World Health Organization (WHO) recognized the pandemic on 11 March 2020. According to the WHO website, as of 16 May 2020, more than 300,000 deaths from COVID-19 have been reported worldwide. To slow the spread of the coronavirus, many countries have imposed some form of restriction on people and businesses. Several countries have declared citywide or nationwide lockdowns. Also, many countries have imposed an entry ban on foreigners. Such restrictions have seriously harmed the world economy. For example, China’s economy shrank by 6.8% in the first quarter of 2020. This decrease is the first contraction since 1992, when China began releasing its GDP data. According to the World Economic Outlook, April 2020 by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the global economy is projected to sharply contract by –3% in 2020.

COVID-19 and International Development by Elissaios Papyrakis Pdf

The current coronavirus pandemic fundamentally reshapes existing debates and processes in international development. The unprecedented (and rapidly evolving) crisis is generating a number of substantial challenges for developing economies. Governments in low-income nations often find it extremely hard to cope with the increased demand for health services, make prompt decisions and put them into action, protect vulnerable segments of society and offer immediate relief to affected economic sectors. This book provides a series of reflective chapters that demonstrate how several areas of international development have been severely affected by the Covid-19 outbreak. It provides an in-depth critical discussion on how the current pandemic influences several development outcomes (in the domains of poverty/inequality, health, education, migration, formal/informal employment, (de)globalisation, the extractive sector, climate change, water and the global financial system). Each chapter draws policy recommendations on relevant interventions that can alleviate the identified negative repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic, especially for the most vulnerable communities in the Global South.
