The Internet’s increasing scope, the rapid proliferation of ICTs for mobile information and communications technologies) and the wide distribution of social media have created new opportunities. Cyber-VAWG is emerging as a global issue with serious implications for global societies and economies. Cyber-crimes targeting women and children are on rise. 1 In the online world, women and children have been found to be very gullible, with cybercrimes against women and children witnessing a sharp rise in the last few years. Women are usually subjected to cybercrimes such as cyber harassment, online stalking, cyber pornography, cyber defamation, matrimonial fraud and much more. The right to the Internet is a human right, as declared in June 2016 by the United Nations Council on Human Rights. The cyber world as such has a virtual reality where anyone can hide or even falsify their identity, this internet gift is used by the criminally minded to commit wrongdoing and then hide under the internet's blanket. The paper identifies common forms of cyber-crimes against women, such as cyber stalking, cyber pornography, circulating images / morphing, sending obscene / defamatory / annoying messages, online trolling / bullying / blackmailing / threat or intimidation, and email spoofing and impersonation. It recommends further steps that need to be taken to deal holistically and effectively with cybercrimes against women. While India’s Internet population may explode, social network users experience a looming gender imbalance. This can be seen in areas such as the number of internet users, the number of users on Facebook and Twitter, digital literacy and political tweets. Cybercrimes generally incepted by fake ids generated on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites that cause severe harm to women, severe blackmailing, intimidation, bullying, or cheating via messenger messages and email are committed by the perpetrators. Ill-intentioned people commit these cyber-crimes with mischievous intent such as illicit gain, vengeance, insult to a woman's dignity, extort, blackmail, defamation, and steal information.

Women in Parliament: Issues and Discussions by Anupma Verma,Ashutosh Kr Pandey Pdf

If you say you’re not a feminist, you’re denying your own existence Women Empowerment is a burning issue that has been questioning our society of its civilization since years. There are so many women, who are silently baring the harassment both in personal and professional life because of the lack of education, lack of legal awareness and disbelief. In a patriarchal society that we live in women need to develop identity of their own to abridge the gender gap for a healthy environment. Simply, they are the most potential and capable resource on earth that are untapped and are not aware of the right they deserve. And this is why we need women empowerment. The Indian government also admits that the reasons behind the declining Child Sex Ratio in the country, primary the socio- cultural mindset having preference for son, considering girls as burden. Many agencies of United Nations in their reports have emphasized that gender issue is to be given utmost priority. It is held that women now cannot be asked to wait any more for equality. The vitality of the issues compels our society not only to think over it but to act upon. This is a short account of what we wanted to write without revealing the crux of what we want the audience to understand from our first ever book. Parliament is the place where thoughts are put in actions.Often we find ourselves unaware of many schemes which are being implemented by the government. Since the parliament has the best coverage on government schemes about women issues, so we decided to write down the details which came across the parliamentary discussions and forward it to the people who want to know about what government is doing for the welfare of women. This attempt came in this form (Women in Parliament: Issues and Discussion). The content of the book is based on the information provided by the Women and Child Development Minister in the house while replying to the questions regarding women issues asked by the MPs. In the first section of the book, various schemes which are being implemented by the government for the welfare of women are discussed while the section II deals with the fund allotted for the implementation of the women welfare schemes. In section III, the issues discussed are still a big concern for the government and the society. The next section is dedicated to the issues related to the widows while the final section deals with the miscellaneous issues.

Internal Security and Community Policing by Dr. Vinita Pandey Pdf

The present book focuses on various issues and threats pertaining to internal security, the various factors and non-state actors creating the threat, the initiatives by the police to strengthen internal security by involving community and how the community participation can strengthen those initiatives by enhancing the community policing measures. The study is focussed on Hyderabad. There are multiple manifestations of internal security which are both implicit and explicit. ‘Communalism’ has been identified as one of the principal threats to internal security with specific reference to Hyderabad. In this background it is highly desirable and required to strengthen ‘community’ to face any eventualities and encourage working and functional partnership with security and law enforcement agencies especially the police forces. Police or community alone cannot manage security concerns. In these globalized times strong partnership between community and police is mandatory. The book based on primary research tries to establish that community policing can be a significant factor in addressing the internal security threats.
