Deeply Damaged by Philip Gordon Ney Pdf

"Deeply Damaged" is a culmination of Dr. Ney's many years of research into the effects of child mistreatment and of abortion. His data indicates that those who were mistreated as children are more likely to have abortions, and that statistically, those who have abortions are more likely to abuse or neglect their children. He believes that a combination of childhood mistreatment, being an abortion survivor and having an abortion results in the deepest damage to the person. Consequently, any attempt to treat these combined assaults must be done very carefully. This book is also the theoretical basis for the "Hope Alive" treatment program. Using metaphors to explain some of the concepts in his Psychology of Created Humanity, Dr. Ney sees a child as both builder and building. God the Creator, provides each child with a blueprint Every child is determined to build according to his/her blueprint, and seeks to find the building supplies from parents. Neglect occurs whenever the child does not get good quality building materials in the right quantity at the right time. Abuse occurs when somebody partially destroys the lovely little building as it is being created. Thus, neglect is more damaging than abuse. There are good arguments to support the thesis that evil seeks to incite people to destroy each other, especially by dehumanising and scapegoating children. When the young are destroyed there is little chance the species can survive. Abortion and childhood mistreatment damage everyone. Humans are tightly bound in the bundle of life. What they do to others, they do to themselves. Thus abortion and childhood mistreatment are destructive not only to the scapegoated children but also to parents, siblings, physicians, Government and judiciary. Though this book is both informative and challenging, not everyone will appreciate the wisdom within. It presents a reasonably cohesive theory of human development and mistreatment, a theory that is well supported by research and documented observations. Dr. Arthur Hartwig, Brisbane, Australia

Trauma, Culture, and Metaphor by John P. Wilson,Jacob D. Lindy Pdf

In Trauma, Culture, and Metaphor, John Wilson and Jacob Lindy explore the language of both individual and collective trauma in an era dominated by globalization and interconnectedness. Through lucid, careful discussion, this important book builds a bridge between the etymology of trauma-related terms commonly used in Western cultures and those of other cultures, such as the Burundi-Rwandan ihahamuka. It also provides the clinician with a framework for working with trauma survivors using a cross-cultural vocabulary—one often based in metaphor—to fully address the experienced trauma and to begin work on reconnection and self-reinvention.

Stolen Innocence by Erin Merryn Pdf

Eleven-year-old Erin Merryn's life was transformed on the night she was sexually abused by her cousin, someone she loved and trusted. As the abuse continued, and as she was forced to see her abuser over and over again in social situations, she struggled with self-doubt, panic attacks, nightmares and the weight of whether or not to tell her terrible secret. It wasn't until a traumatic series of events showed her the cost of silence that she chose to speak out-in the process destroying both her family and the last of her innocence. Through her personal diary, written during the years of her abuse, Erin Merryn shares her journey through pain and confusion to inner strength and, ultimately, forgiveness. Raw, powerful and unflinchingly honest, Stolen Innocence is the inspiring story of one girl's struggle to become a woman, and a bright light on the pain and devastation of abuse. Stolen Innocence is written with conviction and clarity. [Erin Merryn] doesn't hold back, and I respect her honesty and openness...By the end of the book, I thought I was reading passages from a much older adult than a high school senior. Erin has grown into a strong, wise, intelligent, perceptive, spiritual, caring adult." —Susan Reedquist, The Children's Advocacy Center

Broken by Brook Wilder Pdf

First she'll bend. Then she'll break. I was on the warpath when she put herself square in my sights. Innocent, pure, so good that it hurts. I took her, put her in my world. Made her play by my rules. I made it perfectly clear from the moment I held her body against mine. I'm not the good guy, and this is no fairy tale story. I'm everything she's been taught to stay away from. Everything she's taught to fear. She might hate me. But that's too bad. Because she's going to have to get used to me. And before this is all over, I'll have her begging me for more. To own her. To use her. To put my baby inside of her.

The Paua Tower by Coral Atkinson Pdf

Set in a pivotal moment in our history, this love story is about how we once were, or might have been. A tarot-reading Frenchwoman and a paua-shell memorial to a dead soldier play an important role in this gritty love story. Set in a central North Island town in New Zealand during the 1930s Depression, The Paua Tower explores the relationship of a group of people struggling to survive and make sense of a bitter time. It is the story of Vic Cowan, unemployed activist, and Stella Morgan, the sweetheart who must save herself; it tells of Jack Baldwin, the disabled bank manager who sees visions; and Roland Crawford the doubting clergyman. Faith is lost and found, corruption is rife and innocence destroyed, but through it all love blossoms and hope endures.

From Within, Here Is My Joy by Bill Kiely Pdf

For longtime poet Bill Kiely, poetry began as a high school assignment and has blossomed over the course of his life into a venture of new hopes and dreams. He writes to release tension, relieve stress, and remember life’s journeys. In his latest collection of poetry, From Within, Here Is My Joy, Kiely offers verses that embrace life and the poetic path we are all on, the words inside of us simply waiting to be released. These poems represent a small portion of his hopes, dreams, and words reimagined in our world, a compilation of memories and a chance encounter with the spirited embrace of Kiely’s mind. In sharing his voice and heart, along with various facets of his life, he seeks to define himself as a dreamer, writer, poet, and artist. My Courage to Hope Within the tender of the moment between the softness of the way forces of nature awaiting birth buds of life awaken with the promise of a new day. Challenged misdirection cannot change tethered strings tugging my rope I am not enraged by this imbalance eagerly I embrace my courage to hope.
