Dancing in the Wilderness by Samanthia Cassidy Pdf
Step into this unforgettable narrative with Samanthia Cassidy as she comes of age in the Deep South as part of a dysfunctional family and a “holiness” cult with a pastor who handles snakes and takes indecent liberties with young girls.Your soul will be stirred and your heart warmed as you are drawn irresistibly into a unique time and place in Twentieth-Century Americana. As the author allows you to see through her eyes, you will feel her love and hatred…ecstasy and misery…passion and pain. And you will relish her boldness, courage, tenacity and triumph. In this vivid, unvarnished snapshot of provincial southern life, an intrepid young girl is faced with seemingly insurmountable challenges. Yet despite overwhelming assaults against her childhood trust and innocence, Samanthia’s dauntless spirit, love of family and faith in God transcend every obstacle. You will become part of Samanthia’s big family and experience life in their “Big House.” And you will fall in love with this extraordinary girl who shares her beautiful secret of dancing in the wilderness. About the author: Samanthia Cassidy-singer, songwriter, author-comes from a humble background in the small town of Courtland, Alabama, where she encountered God as a young girl and accepted His call upon her life. She has received a Doctor of Humanities degree from Emmanuel Baptist University and an honorary Doctor of Music degree from Heartland Bible College. As a Gospel singer, she was nominated as one of the top five 1997 soloists at the Gospel Voice Diamond Awards in Nashville, and she is now finishing her fifth music CD. Samanthia has ministered extensively in Nigeria and has had the privilege to sing for presidents, kings and dignitaries from around the world. She plans to take the Gospel to all of Africa, Trinidad, Jamaica and Europe, in addition to churches throughout America. She and her beloved husband, Bill, reside in Corinth, Mississippi.

The Dancing Trees by Masiana Kelly Pdf
Thomas loves to tell stories. Big stories. Stories about how skilled he is on the land. But when one of his friends grows tired of his tall tales, Thomas has to prove how skilled he really is. Taking the challenge to spend a night alone in the forest, Thomas heads into the wilderness. The trees, who have heard his stories, watch him tear off their bark and litter as he goes. And so, while Thomas sleeps, they dance a dance that will leave Thomas with a very different kind of story to tell--if he can find his way home... In this book, Masiana Kelly draws on the beauty of the Northwest Territories and the wisdom of Elders to illustrate the importance of treating the land around us with respect.

Beatrix Potter's Journal by Beatrix Potter Pdf
Between the ages of 15 and 30 Beatrix Potter kept a secret diary written in code. When the code was cracked by Leslie Linder more than 20 years after her death, the diary revealed a remarkable picture of upper middle-class life in late Victorian Britain. The original diaries run to over 200,000 words so for this edition Glen Cavaliero has made a careful selection of complete entries and excerpts which provide an illuminating insight into the personality and inspiration of one of the world's best loved children's authors.

A Wilderness Zone by Walter Brueggemann Pdf
In these several pieces I have worked to trace out possible interfaces between specific scripture references and matters at the forefront of our common social life. It is my hunch that, almost without fail, such an interface creates a very different angle of vision for any element of our common social life, because it situates such a topic in the context of the biblical narrative that is occupied by the holy agency of God. Such an alternative angle of vision helps to defamiliarize us from our usual discernment according to the master narrative of democratic capitalism that is most widely shared across the spectrum of conservatives and progressives. Because our common angle of vision shared by progressives and conservatives has a very low ceiling of human ultimacy, we (all of us!) easily come to think that our particular reading of social reality is absolute and beyond question, even if dominated by a tacit ideology. It is my bet that an interface with biblical testimony can and will deabsolutize our excessive certitude and permit us to look again at the social “facts” that are in front of us. I do not think and do not suggest that such interfaces with scripture are inevitable; they are rather suggestive, impressionistic, and fleeting, the kind of linkage that is available in the matrix of faith that is not fixed on certitude.

Killing the Indian Maiden by M. Marubbio Pdf
Killing the Indian Maiden examines the fascinating and often disturbing portrayal of Native American women in film. M. Elise Marubbio examines the sacrificial role in which a young Native woman allies herself with a white male hero and dies as a result of that choice. In studying thirty-four Hollywood films from the silent period to the present, she draws upon theories of colonization, gender, race, and film studies to ground her analysis in broader historical and sociopolitical context and to help answer the question, “What does it mean to be an American?” The book reveals a cultural iconography embedded in the American psyche. As such, the Native American woman is a racialized and sexualized other. A conquerable body, she represents both the seductions and the dangers of the American frontier and the Manifest Destiny of the American nation to master it.
