Dancing With Spiders by Bernie Walsh Pdf

'Dancing with Spiders' weaves a blend of thriller with humour, intrigue and adventure with more than a little room for mystery and suspense. Once set on his Plan, Harry Farmer is keen to execute it. Having masterminded many operations during his Army career, since leaving the Army he has set himself and the CRU a big time objective. He thrives on life in the fast lane and a lavish life style including an energetic appetite for women. There are risks of course, much bigger than the profitable enterprise Harry and his associates, Dave Warlord and Victor Plumtree have engaged in, netting deals from the illegal import of cheap tobacco and alcohol from Spain. Dave Warlord and Victor Plumtree hold together an organization that exists for those who need to know, but is unknown to anyone else. Harry's roots lie in the modest but sometimes ruthless shadows of the Durham coalfields in the North East of England. His journey has taken him from the village of Coxburn to Benalmedina on the Costa del Sol. The landscape is different but there hazards are the same. His long time friend from the Army, Clive Lomas and his beautiful wife, Nardina run a small hotel there and Harry sees Clive as a link in what he is sure will be a lucrative deal for himself and his CRU associates. But Harry's arrival in Spain, his passionate reunion with Nardina and the mystery surrounding Clive's disappearance and the discovery of Victor's body. Determined that his quest is not hampered by division, deceit, sexual attraction and murder and as the 'spiders web' unfolds Harry is faced with challenges to keep control of the operation and to destroy the enemy, whilst testing his own loyalties.

Choreomania by Kélina Gotman Pdf

When political protest is read as epidemic madness, religious ecstasy as nervous disease, and angular dance moves as dark and uncouth, the 'disorder' being described is choreomania. At once a catchall term to denote spontaneous gestures and the unruly movements of crowds, 'choreomania' emerged in the nineteenth century at a time of heightened class conflict, nationalist policy, and colonial rule. In this book, author K lina Gotman examines these choreographies of unrest, rethinking the modern formation of the choreomania concept as it moved across scientific and social scientific disciplines. Reading archives describing dramatic misformations-of bodies and body politics-she shows how prejudices against expressivity unravel, in turn revealing widespread anxieties about demonstrative agitation. This history of the fitful body complements stories of nineteenth-century discipline and regimentation. As she notes, constraints on movement imply constraints on political power and agency. In each chapter, Gotman confronts the many ways choreomania works as an extension of discourses shaping colonialist orientalism, which alternately depict riotous bodies as dangerously infected others, and as curious bacchanalian remains. Through her research, Gotman also shows how beneath the radar of this colonial discourse, men and women gathered together to repossess on their terms the gestures of social revolt.
