Dark Matter, Neutrinos, and Our Solar System by Nirmala Prakash Pdf

This book describes these issues in terms of links, between cosmology, particle and nuclear physics, as well as between cosmology, atmospheric and terrestrial physics. It studies the constituents of dark matter (classified as hot warm and cold) first in terms of their individual structures, and second, in terms of facilities available to detect these structures. Neutrinos are treated as a separate entity. The last chapter details the real-time stories about the "regions" that were not explored thus far, for lack of advanced technology. Their untold stories (which span up to 2010) are illustrated here datewise in full. The book concludes with the latest news that the Large Hadron Collider team at CERN has finally succeeded in producing 7 trillion electronic Volts of energy by creating head-on-collisions of protons and more protons (in search of God-particle).

Sterile Neutrino Dark Matter by Alexander Merle Pdf

This book is a new look at one of the hottest topics in contemporary science, Dark Matter. It is the pioneering text dedicated to sterile neutrinos as candidate particles for Dark Matter, challenging some of the standard assumptions which may be true for some Dark Matter candidates but not for all. So, this can be seen either as an introduction to a specialized topic or an out-of-the-box introduction to the field of Dark Matter in general. No matter if you are a theoretical particle physicist, an observational astronomer, or a ground based experimentalist, no matter if you are a grad student or an active researcher, you can benefit from this text, for a simple reason: a non-standard candidate for Dark Matter can teach you a lot about what we truly know about our standard picture of how the Universe works.

Neutrinos, Dark Matter and Co. by Claus Grupen Pdf

In this essential, Claus Grupen discusses astroparticle physics in a short historical outline and describes the latest results without going into mathematical detail. As an introduction to this new field of research, he gives an overview of what happens in the sky, between stars and between galaxies. By now, many things are quite well understood, but with every solution found, new questions arise - the author also deals with this spectrum of questions with some answers. Today, astroparticle physics is an active, interdisciplinary field of research that includes and combines astronomy, cosmic rays and elementary particle physics. This Springer essential is a translation of the original German 1st edition essentials, Neutrinos, Dunkle Materie und Co. by Claus Grupen, published by Springer Fachmedien Wiesbaden GmbH, part of Springer Nature in 2021.The translation was done with the help of artificial intelligence (machine translation by the service DeepL.com). A subsequent human revision was done primarily in terms of content, so that the book will read stylistically differently from a conventional translation. Springer Nature works continuously to further the development of tools for the production of books and on the related technologies to support the authors

Neutrino Mass, Dark Matter, Gravitational Waves, Monopole Condensation, and Light Cone Quantization by Behram N. Kursunogammalu,Stephan L. Mintz,Arnold Perlmutter Pdf

The International Conference, Orbis Scientiae 1996, focused on the topics: The Neutrino Mass, Light Cone Quantization, Monopole Condensation, Dark Matter, and Gravitational Waves which we have adopted as the title of these proceedings. Was there any exciting news at the conference? Maybe, it depends on who answers the question. There was an almost unanimous agreement on the overall success of the conference as was evidenced by the fact that in the after-dinner remarks by one of us (BNK) the suggestion of organizing the conference on a biannual basis was presented but not accepted: the participants wanted the continuation of the tradition to convene annually. We shall, of course, comply. The expected observation of gravitational waves will constitute the most exciting vindication of Einstein's general relativity. This subject is attracting the attention of the experimentalists and theorists alike. We hope that by the first decade of the third millennium or earlier, gravitational waves will be detected, opening the way for a search for gravitons somewhere in the universe, presumably through the observations in the CMBR. The theoretical basis of the graviton search will take us to quantum gravity and eventually to the modification of general relativity to include the Planck scale behavior of gravity -at energies 19 of the order of 10 Ge V.

Low Temperature Detectors for Neutrinos and Dark Matter by Klaus Pretzl,Norbert Schmitz,Leo Stodolsky Pdf

For the last few years astrophysicists and elementary particle physicists have been working jointly on the following fascinating phenomena: 1. The solar neutrino puzzle and the question: What happens to the neutrinos on their way from the sun to the earth? 2. The growing evidence that our universe is filled with about 10 times more matter than is visible and the question: What is dark matter made of? 3. The supernovae explosions and the question: What do neutrinos tell us about such explosions and vice versa? The experimental investigation of these phenomena is difficult and involves unconventional techniques. These are presently under development, and bring together such seemingly disparate disciplines as astrophysics and elementary particle physics on the one hand and superconductivity and solid-state physics on the other. This book contains the proceedings of a workshop held in March 1987 at which the above subjects and their experimental investigation were discussed. The proposed experimental methods are very new. They involve frontier developments in low temperature and solid-state physics. The book should be useful to researchers and students who actively work on these subjects or plan to enter the field. It also offers the non-expert reader with some physics background a good survey of the activities in this field.

Dark Matter and Neutrinos by Roberta Lee Dwyer Pdf

DARK MATTER and NEUTRINOS: SOLVED? A totally new theory herein is presented for what is "causing" DARK MATTER in the Universe. DARK MATTER is described as 1) A substance that scientists think exists out in space but for which they have no direct proof. (MacMillan Dictionary); 2) By fitting a theoretical model of the composition of the universe to the combined set of cosmological observations, scientists have come up with the composition of 68% dark energy, 27% dark matter, 5% normal matter. (NASA Science Newsletter). These are just two definitions, of which there are many others with different percentage figures, that try to explain the substance called DARK MATTER in the cosmos. From 350 B.C., when it was called AETHER, to our present terminology of DARK MATTER, it remains an unknown. Two new theories are presented herein for evaluation as to the creation of NEUTRINOS or perhaps its elimination. The NEUTRINO is described as an incredibly tiny subatomic particle (0.000291) produced in a Beta-decay event to explain where some "missing energy" has been created. NEUTRINOS have no mass, no interaction with any known material, and have no electric charge. It was originally declared to be the "ghost particle" and remains as such today.

Confluence of Cosmology, Massive Neutrinos, Elementary Particles, and Gravitation by Behram N. Kursunogammalu,Stephan L. Mintz,Arnold Perlmutter Pdf

Justbefore the preliminary programof Orbis Scientiae 1998 went to press the news in physics was suddenly dominated by the discovery that neutrinos are, after all, massive particles. This was predicted by some physicists including Dr. Behram Kusunoglu, who had apaper published on this subject in 1976 in the Physical Review. Massive neutrinos do not necessarily simplify the physics of elementary particles but they do give elementary particle physics a new direction. If the dark matter content ofthe universe turns out to consist ofneutrinos, the fact that they are massive should make an impact on cosmology. Some of the papers in this volume have attempted to provide answers to these questions. We have a long way to go before we find the real reasons for nature’s creation of neutrinos. Another neutrino-related event was the passing of their discoverer, Fredrick Reines: The trustees of the Global Foundation, members of the Orbis Scientiae 1998, dedicate this conference to Fredrick Reines of the University of California at Irvine. The late Professor Reines was a loyal and active member of these series of conferences on the frontiers of physics and cosmology since 1964. He also sewed as one of the trustees of the Global Foundation for the past three years. Professor Reines discovered the most elusive particle, the neutrino, in 1954. We are proud to say that we recognized the importance of this discovery by awarding him the J.
