This collection of short stories and poems marks Cordy Jiang's first works as a budding creative writer. Her writing includes a wide array of topics ranging from mental health to romance. The large majority of the content is fictional, but of course, based on true events from her life. There is one memoir piece at the very end. Be warned that she doesn't shy away from topics that are difficult to swallow, and you will encounter some heavy pieces. Jiang believes in giving a voice to those who deserve to be heard, which means she writes about sensitive topics that are often neglected or ignored, such as the very real symptoms of mental illness and how they affect people's everyday lives. With that being said, there are some light-hearted pieces for comic relief sprinkled throughout some heavily emotional pieces. Reader discretion is advised. The reader should definitely be over 18 to read this. There is no sugar coating in this book, so if that's what you're looking for, this is probably not the book for you. I will say this: despite all of the darkness in this book, it is now the dawn.
