Deformation Behavior of Welded Steel Sandwich Panels Under Quasi-Static Loading by U.s. Department of Transportation Pdf
This report describes engineering studies that were conducted to examine thedeformation behavior of flat, welded steelsandwich panels under two quasi-static loading conditions: (1) uniaxial compression;and (2) bending with an indenter.Testingand analysisare conducted to studythe force-displacement response of sandwich structures with different core geometries:(1) pipe or tubular cores with outer diameters equal to 2, 3, and 5 in;(2) a 2-inchsquare diamond core;and (3) adouble corrugated core called an X-corewith a 5-inchcore height.Deformation and local collapse modes of sandwich panels under these loading conditions are also studied. Moreover, the work described in this report represents basic researchto investigate the concept of applying welded steel sandwich structures as a means to offer protection to railroad tankcars—especially those carrying hazardous materials—in the event of an accident.
Sandwich Structural Composites by Wenguang Ma,Russell Elkin Pdf
Sandwich Structural Composites: Theory and Practice offers a comprehensive coverage of sandwich structural composites. It describes the structure, properties, characterization, and testing of raw materials. In addition, it discusses design and process methods, applications and damage assessments of sandwich structural composites. The book: Offers a review of current sandwich composite lamination processes and manufacturing methods Introduces raw materials, including core materials, skin reinforcements, resin substrates and adhesives Discusses sandwich structure characterization, finite element analysis of the structures, and product design and optimization Describes benefits other than structural, including acoustic, thermal, and fire Details applications in various industries, including aerospace, wind energy, marine ships, recreational boats and vehicles, sport equipment, building construction, and extreme temperature applications The book will be of benefit to industrial practitioners, researchers, academic faculty, and advanced students in materials and mechanical engineering and related disciplines looking to advance their understanding of these increasingly important materials.
Tubular Structures XIV contains the latest scientific and engineering developments in the field of tubular steel structures, as presented at the 14th International Symposium on Tubular Structures (ISTS14, Imperial College London, UK, 12-14 September 2012). The International Symposium on Tubular Structures (ISTS) has a long-standing reputation for b
The Performance of Metallic Sandwich Panels Subject to Quasi-static and Dynamic Loads by Zhensong Wei Pdf
In Part III, the response to impulsive loads, especially to water blast, is investigated. The characterization is conducted by means of the constitutive law with strain-rate dependence. The law was assessed by comparison with two sets of experiments. Integration of Parts II and III affirms that the constitutive law approach is capable of predicting the overall performance.
