Demons and Tongues (Classic Reprint) by Mrs. Alma White Pdf

Excerpt from Demons and Tongues Pentecost. The prophecy which says, At evening time it shall be light, and those concerning the lat ter rain, have reference to the Jews, and will be ful filled after they are gathered back to Palestine. All this talk about the latter rain is a misappropriation Of Scripture that belongs to the Jews, as is plain to be seen: Be glad then, ye children Of Zion, and re joice in the Lord your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. And the floors shall be full Of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and Oil. And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you (joel 2: 23 Gentiles have no claim whatever to the litaral fulfil ment Of the phrophecies concerning the latter rain. Instead Of light coming to them they are being en shrouded in the greatest spiritual darkness that has ever been known in the history Of the Gospel age. Demons and Tongues by Alma Bridwell White Pdf

2013 Reprint of 1936 Edition. Exact facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. "Glossolalia," or speaking in tongues, is the fluid vocalizing (or less commonly the writing) of speech-like syllables that lack any readily comprehended meaning, in some cases as part of religious practice. The significance of glossolalia has varied in context, with some minorities considering it as a part of a sacred language. It is most prominently practised within Pentecostal and Charismatic Christianity but it is also practised in non-Christian religions. Alma Bridwell White (1862 - 1946) was the founder, and a bishop of the Pillar of Fire Church. In 1918, she became the first female bishop in the United States. She was noted for her association with the Ku Klux Klan and her feminism, anti-Catholicism, antisemitism, anti-Pentecostalism, racism, and hostility to immigrants.

Demons and Tongues by Alma White Pdf

"Demons and Tongues" is an interesting early 20th century look at the opinions of the Pillar of Fire movement in regards to the Pentecostal assembly and demonology twain with the same. With a quasi-eugenic approach and a focus on Revelation, this manuscript is at once interesting and perhaps dated in the christian body. Speaking of the goals of Satan, that old Devil of antiquity, and the way this being uses heresy, it shuns the very concept of speaking in tongues and relegates it to the depraved and demonic.

Raising the Devil by Bill Ellis Pdf

Raising the Devil reveals how the Christian Pentecostal movement, right-wing conspiracy theories, and an opportunistic media turned grassroots folk traditions into the Satanism scare of the 1980s. During the mid-twentieth century, devil worship was seen as merely an isolated practice of medieval times. But by the early 1980s, many influential experts in clinical medicine and in law enforcement were proclaiming that satanic cults were widespread and dangerous. By examining the broader context for alleged "cult" activity, Bill Ellis demonstrates how the image of contemporary Satanism emerged during the 1970s. Blaming a wide range of mental and physical illnesses on in-dwelling demons, a faction of the Pentecostal movement became convinced that their gifts of the spirit were being opposed by satanic activities. They attributed these activities to a "cult" that was the evil twin of true Christianity. In some of the cases Ellis considers, common folk beliefs and rituals were misunderstood as evidence of devil worship. In others, narratives and rituals themselves were used to combat satanic forces. As the media found such stories more and more attractive, any activity with even remotely occult overtones was demonized in order to fit a model of absolute good confronting evil. Ellis's wide-ranging investigation covers ouija boards, cattle mutilation, graveyard desecration, and "diabolical medicine"--the psychiatric community's version of exorcism. He offers a balanced view of contentious issues such as demonic possession, satanic ritual abuse, and the testimonies of confessing "ex-Satanists." A trained folklorist, Ellis seeks to navigate a middle road in this dialog, and his insights into informal religious traditions clarify how the image of Satanism both explained and created deviant behavior.

GOD Speaks Now of a Seal Revealed by Anthony A Eddy Pdf

My little book has been held in readiness, has been kept secure, has the bespoke passages of God of both significance and earnestness. My little book now comes forth to see the light of day among The Multitudes, among the seekers and the thoughtful, among the waiting and the ready, among the broken-hearted and the cheerless, among the hopeless and the lost— both in their spirits and their souls. My little book has been waiting a long time in the calendar of man, has been ready for release in the calendar of God, has been awaiting the end-time networking of man. My little book releases the nuts and bolts of God which fit the spanners and the holes within the framework as held by man— that man may fit and tighten both My truth and righteousness within the home where they belong. My little book is the chaperone to the soul, is the motivator to the spirit, is the backstop to a slide upon a slippery slope. My little book points the way to a golden future, is the starting pistol held aloft in readiness to start a race, is the holder of the key points well worth remembering, is the release of the scent of The Spirit on a very dusty playground, is the caller-to-attention for serious consideration of the content held aloft: and now lowered into the outreached hands of man.

Hearing Voices, Demonic and Divine by Christopher C. H. Cook Pdf

Experiences of hearing the voice of God (or angels, demons, or other spiritual beings) have generally been understood either as religious experiences or else as a feature of mental illness. Some critics of traditional religious faith have dismissed the visions and voices attributed to biblical characters and saints as evidence of mental disorder. However, it is now known that many ordinary people, with no other evidence of mental disorder, also hear voices and that these voices not infrequently include spiritual or religious content. Psychological and interdisciplinary research has shed a revealing light on these experiences in recent years, so that we now know much more about the phenomenon of "hearing voices" than ever before. The present work considers biblical, historical, and scientific accounts of spiritual and mystical experiences of voice hearing in the Christian tradition in order to explore how some voices may be understood theologically as revelatory. It is proposed that in the incarnation, Christian faith finds both an understanding of what it is to be fully human (a theological anthropology), and God’s perfect self-disclosure (revelation). Within such an understanding, revelatory voices represent a key point of interpersonal encounter between human beings and God.
