Introduction to Digital Signal Processing Using MATLAB with Application to Digital Communications by K.S. Thyagarajan Pdf

This textbook provides engineering students with instruction on processing signals encountered in speech, music, and wireless communications using software or hardware by employing basic mathematical methods. The book starts with an overview of signal processing, introducing readers to the field. It goes on to give instruction in converting continuous time signals into digital signals and discusses various methods to process the digital signals, such as filtering. The author uses MATLAB throughout as a user-friendly software tool to perform various digital signal processing algorithms and to simulate real-time systems. Readers learn how to convert analog signals into digital signals; how to process these signals using software or hardware; and how to write algorithms to perform useful operations on the acquired signals such as filtering, detecting digitally modulated signals, correcting channel distortions, etc. Students are also shown how to convert MATLAB codes into firmware codes. Further, students will be able to apply the basic digital signal processing techniques in their workplace. The book is based on the author's popular online course at University of California, San Diego.

Digital Signal Processing by Muhammad Khan,Syed K. Hasnain,Mohsin Jamil Pdf

The subject of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) is enormously complex, involving many concepts, probabilities, and signal processing that are woven together in an intricate manner. To cope with this scope and complexity, many DSP texts are often organized around the “numerical examples” of a communication system. With such organization, readers can see through the complexity of DSP, they learn about the distinct concepts and protocols in one part of the communication system while seeing the big picture of how all parts fit together. From a pedagogical perspective, our personal experience has been that such approach indeed works well.Based on the authors’ extensive experience in teaching and research, Digital Signal Processing: a breadth-first approach is written with the reader in mind. The book is intended for a course on digital signal processing, for seniors and undergraduate students. The subject has high popularity in the field of electrical and computer engineering, and the authors consider all the needs and tools used in analysis and design of discrete time systems for signal processing.Key features of the book include:• The extensive use of MATLAB based examples to illustrate how to solve signal processing problems. The textbook includes a wealth of problems, with solutions• Worked-out examples have been included to explain new and difficult concepts, which help to expose the reader to real-life signal processing problems• The inclusion of FIR and IIR filter design further enrich the contents

The Nonuniform Discrete Fourier Transform and Its Applications in Signal Processing by Sonali Bagchi,Sanjit K. Mitra Pdf

The growth in the field of digital signal processing began with the simulation of continuous-time systems in the 1950s, even though the origin of the field can be traced back to 400 years when methods were developed to solve numerically problems such as interpolation and integration. During the last 40 years, there have been phenomenal advances in the theory and application of digital signal processing. In many applications, the representation of a discrete-time signal or a sys tem in the frequency domain is of interest. To this end, the discrete-time Fourier transform (DTFT) and the z-transform are often used. In the case of a discrete-time signal of finite length, the most widely used frequency-domain representation is the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) which results in a finite length sequence in the frequency domain. The DFT is simply composed of the samples of the DTFT of the sequence at equally spaced frequency points, or equivalently, the samples of its z-transform at equally spaced points on the unit circle. The DFT provides information about the spectral contents of the signal at equally spaced discrete frequency points, and thus, can be used for spectral analysis of signals. Various techniques, commonly known as the fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithms, have been advanced for the efficient com putation of the DFT. An important tool in digital signal processing is the linear convolution of two finite-length signals, which often can be implemented very efficiently using the DFT.
