Heart Almanac Expository and Curriculum by Donald R. Downing Pdf

Human life is governed by the heart. The physical heart sustains the body by pumping life-giving blood to every organ and cell. The spiritual heart, on the other hand, is God's dwelling place on earth. Our success or failure in life depends not upon material wealth or social status but upon the condition of our spiritual heart. Everyone without exception needs a new heart from God, clean and right before Him, because without a new heart there cannot be a new life. The heart holds the keys of life. Downing's Heart Manual is biblically and scripturally based to help students know their own hearts and enable them to meet the challenges of life from a heart perspective. This 2-year study guide is designed to help students and teachers broaden their knowledge of the heart and of how to love the Lord with all of their heart, which is the first and greatest commandment (Matthew 22:37-38). Knowledge of our heart is very important because out of the heart flow the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23). In Hosea 4:6 God says, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." Spiritual heart knowledge-God's heart as well as our own-is essential for eternal life. This one-of-a-kind heart manual will guide students on an intimate journey into the very heart of God. Dr. Donald R Downing, a heart physician and specialist for God, has been writing and teaching on the heart for over 21 years. The author of over seven books on the heart, he believes that the greatest need of the church today is for leaders who are also spiritual heart specialists and physicians, and who have pure and clean hearts before God.

The Chinese HEART in a Cognitive Perspective by Ning Yu Pdf

This book is a cognitive semantic study of the Chinese conceptualization of the heart, traditionally seen as the central faculty of cognition. The Chinese word xin, which primarily denotes the heart organ, covers the meanings of both "heart" and "mind" as understood in English, which upholds a heart-head dichotomy. In contrast to the Western dualist view, Chinese takes on a more holistic view that sees the heart as the center of both emotions and thought. The contrast characterizes two cultural traditions that have developed different conceptualizations of person, self, and agent of cognition. The concept of "heart" lies at the core of Chinese thought and medicine, and its importance to Chinese culture is extensively manifested in the Chinese language. Diachronically, this book traces the roots of its conception in ancient Chinese philosophy and traditional Chinese medicine. Along the synchronic dimension, it not only makes a systematic analysis of conventionalized expressions that reflect the underlying cultural models and conceptualizations, as well as underlying conceptual metaphors and metonymies, but also attempts a textual analysis of an essay and a number of poems for their metaphoric and metonymic images and imports contributing to the cultural models and conceptualizations. It also takes up a comparative perspective that sheds light on similarities and differences between Western and Chinese cultures in the understanding of the heart, brain, body, mind, self, and person. The book contributes to the understanding of the embodied nature of human cognition situated in its cultural context, and the relationship between language, culture, and cognition.

Embodiment in Cross-Linguistic Studies by Anonim Pdf

The book explores the conceptualization of the ‘heart’ as it is represented in 19 languages, ranging from broadly studied to endangered ones. Being one of the most extensively utilised body part name for figurative usages, it lends itself to rich polysemy and a wide array of metaphorical and metonymical meanings. The present book offers a rich selection of papers which observe the lexeme ‘heart’ from diverse perspectives, employing primarily the frameworks of cognitive and cultural linguistics as well as formal methodologies of lexicology and morphology. The findings are unique and novel contributions to the research of body-part semantics, embodied cognition and metaphor analysis, and in general, the investigation of the interconnectedness of language, culture, cognition and perception about the human body.

Thin Places by Mary E. DeMuth Pdf

In her moving spiritual memoir, Mary DeMuth traces the winding path of “thin places” in her life—places where she experienced longing and healing more intensely than before. As DeMuth writes, “Thin places are snatches of holy ground, tucked into the corners of our world, where we might just catch a glimpse of eternity. They are aha moments, beautiful realizations, when the Son of God bursts through the hazy fog of our monotony and shines on us afresh.”From losing her earthly father to discovering a heavenly Father who never leaves, from singing Olivia Newton-John songs to the sky to worshiping God under a French sun, from surviving abuse as a latchkey kid to experiencing the joy of mothering three children, DeMuth’s story calls readers to a deeper understanding of their own story. With unusual spiritual wisdom, she looks for God in the past so that she might experience him more profoundly in the present. Her powerful words invite readers to know God in a new way—a God ready to break through any ordinary day or extraordinary pain and offer a glimpse of eternity.

Exposing the Secrets of Sin by Abozos Abiodun Pdf

It is quite alarming and overwhelming the rate at which many, even the so-called Christians and non-Christians of this generation, are wallowing in sin in spite of one’s decision to let go of sin. In fact, all effort of prayer, fasting, and abstinence to keep away from sin seems not to be working. One thing, however, is that once one fails to understand the nature of sin—the working power of sin in one’s life—it will be very difficult to break from it. Hence, Exposing the Secrets of Sin is a book that has been written in-depth and inspired by the Holy Spirit to expose the secrets of sins and its effects on humans. This is because sin has become a yoke, sting, cankerworm, burden, and spirit that if one fails to understand its nature (activities and effects), one might remain in sin forever. This book is therefore God’s gift to you in all matter relating to sin, which has been eating deep into your soul. Why not take your time, read, digest, and apply the words of this book to your life and see yourself overcoming the power and spirit of sin in your life. Happy reading!

Simple by Antonio O. Garza Pdf

SIMPLE has many testimonies, including 2 prophecies. The following is one testimony: God called me by using my son 3 different times. First time, my little son drowns which forced me to call on God. When I had made Him some promises I wouldn't keep. Yet, God saved my son. Second time, I got angry at my wife because she wouldn't remove a car from inside our garage, when it was fixing to rain. While the starting of our driveway goes up a slope 8 feet high, then it levels off. So being angry, I made my truck tires spin sending the truck airborne. Then everything started to turn into slow motion. It was the time I remembered seeing my son playing on the driveway. I then worried my truck had crushed him. So, blinded by rage I blamed my wife. Then I heard a voice saying, look behind you. I did not want to look! But as I turned around, I saw my truck's front tire had stopped 1" from crushing my son's head. From early that morning, to late in the evening I sat outside my house meditating! The third time, I saw my son swallowing a hard candy causing him to choke. I smile because I thought I could help him, but I was not able! I could have use an old phone next to me, but I really was looking at the clock next to the phone. It had moved from zero to 2, to 8, to 12, to 19 minutes, the time my son died! So, I got angry at God, without cussing. I believe, God knew my thinking because I heard, be careful how you speak. Quickly I dropped on my knees, asking God for forgiveness of my sins. Still I said, send me to hell! But give me back my son because he is innocent. As, I kept crying out loud! Therefore, while kneeling with my open arms, I held my dead son. Yet, in a split second and with my eyes close, I felt someone tapping my back. It was my son! God had given him back to me and he was saying, "I am alright daddy." Since then, I promised God I would follow him, until my last breath.

At War with China? by Wouter Hoenderdaal Pdf

Western policy toward China amounts to a "cold" war that is heating up rapidly, bringing us closer to a devastating conflict. The author examines the provocations over Taiwan and the South China Sea, economic sanctions amounting to economic warfare, and the broader challenge of competing for resources in the Global South. The book also highlights examples from the US-Soviet contest to remind us how severely such misguided Western actions impact other countries who are not even direct participants in the conflict. The fact that Western leaders are largely responsible for the deterioration of relations with China is ignored by the mainstream. This book shows exactly how Western actions are adding fuel to the fire. How do Western policies increase the likelihood of escalation and war? What will these conflicts look like? Who will get hurt? And can we avoid it? These are the central questions of this book. Various conflict scenarios are explained in detail, from a direct military clash over Taiwan to economic war, superpower competition in the Global South, and information warfare. The book is written in an engaging style, for all readers with an interest in history, politics, and international affairs. Progressives, libertarians, activists, concerned citizens, and others who oppose aggressive Western foreign policy will certainly enjoy the book. It presents information not found within the mainstream, and by doing so, presents readers with new ways of understanding these very important developments.
