Making Disciples Through Home Assemblies by ,Dwight,Patrice Gillespie Pdf

Statistics on church growth reveal some startling facts: Overall church attendance in America is declining. The number of those who claim they are done with churches is growing. Those who list “none” as religious affiliation are increasing. After COVID-19, some are reluctant to return to church services in buildings. What if you had a way to make disciples for Jesus in your neighborhood? Is there a way to reach those who have left the churches or who will not go back to a church building? Yes. Making Disciples Through Home Assemblies can show you how. The book is based on the biblical patterns of the first-century disciples who were highly effective in disciple-making in obedience to Jesus’ command to make disciples and be His witnesses (Matthew 28:18–20 and Acts 1:8). Studying Acts and other New Testament verses, the authors show that those disciples believed that making disciples and growing the Kingdom of God was the number one priority. The authors also show that individuals met in homes in the absence of church buildings and that any believer can become a disciple-maker for Jesus. Making Disciples Through Home Assemblies contains biblical rationale for home assemblies, material that can be used for training yourself and others to lead a home assembly, and the biblically based study guide for your home assembly meetings is included. The material in this book has been extensively tested for over two years with audiences of diverse ages, and many individuals have been successful in creating their own home assemblies and making disciples for Jesus across the United States. Now you too can start a home assembly and teach others how to become disciples for Jesus.

Our Brilliant Heritage / If You Will Be Perfect / Disciples Indeed by Oswald Chambers Pdf

God has entrusted humanity with His Word and He intends to demonstrate His character through His disciples. When our minds are focused on God and we are growing in the realization of the purity of Christ's heart and His wonderful strength and power, we will find that that same characteristic is being worked out in us. In this three-in-one-volume, Oswald Chambers writes, 'Sanctification must be the direct gift of God by means of the instrument of the most earnest, intense, and personal faith.' Chambers says no one can acheive sanctification; we must inherit and appropriate it through a vital relationship with God through Christ.

The Voice of the Silence: Crown of Ethics for Disciples by Three treatises from the “Book of the Golden Precepts” Pdf

Tributes by Eminent Theosophists on the Paradigm of Mahayana Buddhism. The Voice of The Silence, though it does not claim to be the utterance of a Buddha, is nevertheless akin to the sutra rather to the śāstra group of texts. . . . It seeks more to inspire than to instruct, appeals to the heart rather than to the head. To make use of De Quincey’s classification, it belongs not to the literature of information, the purpose of which is to augment knowledge, but to the literature of power, the aim of which is to move. So important is a clear understanding of the difference not merely between the kinds of effect they are calculated to produce and the organs upon which they are intended to act, that, according to The Voice of The Silence itself, the disciple at the very outset of his quest is admonished, “Learn above all to separate Head-learning from Soul-wisdom, the ‘Eye’ from the ‘Heart doctrine.’” — Bhikshu Sangarakshita All being desire liberation from misery. Seek, therefore, for the causes of misery and expunge them. By entering on the path, liberation from misery is attained. Exhort, then, all beings to enter the path. — IXth Panchen Lama Madame Blavatsky had a profound knowledge of Buddhist philosophy, and the doctrines she promulgated were those of many great teachers. This book is like a call to men to forsake desire, dispel every evil thought, and enter the true Path. — B.T .Chang The only true exposition in English of the Heart Doctrine of the Mahāyāna and its noble ideal of self-sacrifice for humanity. — Alice Leighton Cleather & Basil Crump Here is the real Mahāyāna Buddhism. — D.T. Suzuki It gave us a blazing vision of the immensity of Mahāyāna Buddhism when our knowledge so far was exclusively of the Theravada, excepting HPB’s Voice of The Silence. — Christmas Humphreys There is a verge of the mind which these things haunt; and whispers therefrom mingle with the operations of our understanding, even as the waters of the infinite ocean send their waves to break among the pebbles that lie upon our shores. . . . We recognize the passwords to the mystical region as we hear them, but we cannot use them ourselves; it alone has the keeping of “the password primeval.” — William James [Having] bathed in these I marvelled what I could have done to merit birth in an age wherein such wisdom was on offer to all who could beg, borrow or steal a copy of those works. — George W. Russell I believe that this book has strongly influenced many sincere seekers and aspirants to the wisdom and compassion of the Bodhisattva Path. — XIVth Dalai Lama. It is also one of her (H.P. Blavatsky’s) most important writings, being a guidebook for those dedicated to achieving enlightenment through altruistic service to humanity. — Boris de Zirkoff This is a work intended for the aspirant after true, or self, knowledge, aiming to play a significant part in helping mankind along its arduous evolutionary path to ultimate self-redemption and liberation. — Geoffrey A. Farthing Pledge of Kwan Yin,” the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy. Never will I seek nor perceive private individual salvation; Never will I enter into final peace alone; But forever and everywhere will I live and strive For the redemption of every creature throughout the world. — Sylvia Cranston

Kingdom Disciples by Tony Evans Pdf

Where have all the disciples gone? There is a missing force in Christianity today. It’s a critical one, and its absence has led to weak believers, disintegrating families, ineffective churches, and a decaying culture. Without it, we lack what we need to fully live as heaven’s representatives on earth. That missing force is discipleship. In Kingdom Disciples, Tony Evans outlines a simple, actionable definition of discipleship to help the church fulfill its calling. Readers will learn: What a disciple is What a disciple cares about How to be a disciple and make disciples What discipleship looks like in community What the impact of discipleship on the world can be Kingdom disciples are in short supply, and the result is a legion of powerless Christians attending powerless churches, having a powerless presence in the world. The power, authority, abundance, victory, and impact God has promised will only come about when we understand and align ourselves with His definition of discipleship. The Rhetoric of Characterization of God, Jesus and Jesus' Disciples in the Gospel of Mark by Paul L. Danove Pdf

This study develops a method for analyzing the semantic and narrative rhetoric of repetition and the narrative rhetoric and function of characterization and applies this method in studies of the characterization of God, Jesus, and Jesus' disciples in the Gospel of Mark. The studies of characterization distinguish beliefs that are assumed for the audience from beliefs that the narration cultivates for the audience, identifies the rhetorical relationships and organization of cultivated beliefs, and clarifies the contribution of each character's portrayal to the overall narrative development of Mark. The study then considers the contribution of the characterization of the women at the tomb to the portrayal of Jesus' disciples and narrative developments. A concluding inquiry investigates the possible applications of the studies of characterization for determining the rhetorical exigency of the narration and for formulating statements of Mark's proposed theology.

He followed that summons and traveled to the coastal regions of Tanzania and Kenya in East Africa. There he worked as a witness to Jesus Christ, sharing the gospel so that others might become disciples led by the Holy Spirit. The narrative and reflection in Becoming a True Disciple leads the reader to contemplate topics like being a disciple, spiritual growth, the Holy Spirit, a devotional life, prayer, honoring GodÕs word, renewing the mind, creating a spiritual environment, faith, and joining in ChristÕs Great Commission. Becoming a True Disciple: The Revolution of Spirit-Led Disciples of Christ resists falling into the trap of trying to teach discipleship as a process that one may implement.

Making Disciples by Sylvia Wilkey Collinson Pdf

The Christian faith community regards the making of disciples as a prime directive of Jesus himself, though this theme is not dominant in contemporary models of teaching in the church. This investigation seeks to develop a theory of discipling and to test its congruence as an effective educational strategy with the objectives of modern Christian faith communities. After briefly examining the discipling model of teaching as practiced in the world of the Ancient Near East, a detailed study of New Testament texts investigates the practice of discipling by Jesus and his followers and in the church of the first century. An understanding of the concept of discipling is gained by gradually refining its definition as the study progresses through a contemporary examination of other informal models of education. Religious and educational research findings are explored to enable the validity of the discipling model to be determined. Finally, the definition is used as a benchmark to examine various contemporary educational theories within the community of faith. In contrast to the schooling model, discipling has been shown to be an effective model for teaching attitudes, values, and behavior as well as knowledge and beliefs in today's church. Its emphasis on commitment to learning relationships within a nurturing community and active involvement in the mission of Christ to the world, and its capacity to adapt to differences in age, culture, ability, and interests, make it a model of teaching worthy of much greater attention by the Christian faith community.
