But he has also found the one entity that he had not bargained for: the Cerebral location of the Human Soul. He and his assassin, Aquataine, rule the present world from their lofty urban headquarters but the doctor has only now realized that this knowledge has come from the Dark Prince himself, Lucifer, who will use these secrets to download Evil directly into a person's NeuralNet.Lucifer will now be able to download each and every Human Soul into his fiery lair by simple electronic transmission. Then Lucifer will prepare for his battle with Michael, the ArchAngel: the FireSword, in his attempt to take back the Heavenly sanctuary that he is convinced still belongs to him. Dr. Samantha Akers, Archeologist: finder of Lost Objects, uncovers a modern relic buried under tons of Time that warns the world of the awesome power of the DHD. She and Paul race towards the final supernatural confrontation that will decide the fate of the entire world.

Bioinformatics Biocomputing and Perl by Michael Moorhouse,Paul Barry Pdf

Bioinformatics, Biocomputing and Perl presents a modern introduction to bioinformatics computing skills and practice. Structuring its presentation around four main areas of study, this book covers the skills vital to the day-to-day activities of today’s bioinformatician. Each chapter contains a series of maxims designed to highlight key points and there are exercises to supplement and cement the introduced material. Working with Perl presents an extended tutorial introduction to programming through Perl, the premier programming technology of the bioinformatics community. Even though no previous programming experience is assumed, completing the tutorial equips the reader with the ability to produce powerful custom programs with ease. Working with Data applies the programming skills acquired to processing a variety of bioinformatics data. In addition to advice on working with important data stores such as the Protein DataBank, SWISS-PROT, EMBL and the GenBank, considerable discussion is devoted to using bioinformatics data to populate relational database systems. The popular MySQL database is used in all examples. Working with the Web presents a discussion of the Web-based technologies that allow the bioinformatics researcher to publish both data and applications on the Internet. Working with Applications shifts gear from creating custom programs to using them. The tools described include Clustal-W, EMBOSS, STRIDE, BLAST and Xmgrace. An introduction to the important Bioperl Project concludes this chapter and rounds off the book.

The Second Evolution by Justin Petrillo Pdf

Welcome to the Second Evolution. Richard Sessions, M.D. has taken the wonder of Genetic Engineering to its ultimate limit.Due to his brilliance, no longer must a fetus pass through a womans Pelvic Brim, which has limited the size of the Human Brain for 25 million years. He has also made obsolete the contributions of a potential Father. The Fathers genetic contribution has now been replaced with Syntail, a mass-produced synthetic sperm. Through this knowledge, the two genetic offspring of the Second Evolution, Glass and Echo, have arrived. These twin offspring of this fateful combination alone possess the Third Cerebral Hemisphere, which they use to supply Dr. Sessions with new and terrible miracles. But the Doctor receives a deadly omen one night; he receives the Death List, the list that the Grim Reaper uses to kill all the people who are slated to die each day. Dr. Sessions sees his own name on this portentous list and formulates a plan to stop the Grim Reaper from executing his obligations and thereby attempts to lengthen his stay on this lonely planet. A supernatural battle begins with the Grim Reapers attempt to reconstruct the Life Thread; the slender filament that the Grim Reapers massive Scythe severs to terminate his victims. Alexandra Morrow, a lawyer whose name is just before Dr. Sessions on the Death List, is caught in between these two combatants in a surreal plan of Deception, Terror, and Murder. Who will win&?

Double Helix, Double Joy by Caroline Rasmussen,Alister Danks,Rasmussen Danks Pdf

Professor David Danks explained in a public lecture revealingly titled, Double Helix, Double Joy, that 'Even from its infancy it was apparent that the double helix was going to change not only science, but also the community's image of science'. 'Double Joy' conveyed his sense that the developments cascading from Watson and Crick's initial DNA discovery would yield 'immense benefits' for people generally, and also for his own research ambitions. A double joy made concrete in the foundation of the Murdoch Institute for Research into Birth Defects where he could fully implement his vision of unfettered basic scientific research wedded to clinical practice and services to public health. Born into the long-established Melbourne family of hardware merchants, Danks chose a career path more aligned to that family's association with hospitals and health. Inspired to know 'why a disease had occurred' and 'how it could be anticipated and prevented', Danks trained with pioneers of human genetics in London and Baltimore from 1959. At that time, human genetics was scarcely known in Australia. Following his discovery of the cause of Menkes disease in 1972 and breakthroughs in PKU testing, he applied his entrepreneurial flair to the development of a brilliant multi-disciplinary research team focussed on the identification of genetic diseases affecting newborns and their treatment in the clinic. Dame Elisabeth Murdoch embraced his vision and helped launch the Murdoch Institute in 1986, based at the Royal Children's Hospital. A man of 'towering intellect', who did it 'because it was fun', Danks' legacy reaches beyond the Murdoch Institute to the establishment of clinical genetics services throughout Australia, the internationally acclaimed POSSUM database, and the next generation of researchers who continue to explore and expand his vision.

Double Helix History by Jerome De Groot Pdf

Double Helix History examines the interface between genetics and history in order to investigate the plausibility of ‘new’ knowledge derived from scientific methods and to reflect upon what it might mean for the practice of history. Since the mapping of the human genome in 2001, there has been an expansion in the use of genetic information for historical investigation. Geneticists are confident that this has changed the way we know the past. This book considers the practicalities and implications of this seemingly new way of understanding the human past using genetics. It provides the first sustained engagement with these so-called ‘genomic histories’. The book investigates the ways that genetic awareness and practice is seemingly changing historical practice and conceptualisation. Linking six concepts – ‘Public’, ‘Practice’, ‘Ethics’, ‘Politics’, ‘Self’, and ‘Imagination – Double Helix History outlines the ways that genetic information, being postgenomic, the public life of DNA, and the genetic historical imaginary work on the body, on collective memory, on the historical imagination, on the ethics of historical investigation, on the articulation of history, and on the collection and interpretation of data regarding the ‘past’. This book will appeal to researchers and students alike interested in DNA, genetics, and historiography.
