All of us will face some hard roads, but God teaches us how to walk them. He pours his grace over us to help us survive and thrive through all circumstances, and he uses women to encourage us along the way. These fifty-two unique and inspiring stories are from real women who believe God and are learning to live in his grace. Each week, you will see God in action, touching the lives of these women in different yet amazing ways. Suggestions and questions at the end of each weekly story will encourage you to capture your own insights and ways you are touched by God. We pray you will be motivated to trust God even more. "Come, let us tell of the Lord's greatness; let us exalt his name together" (Psalm 34:3 NLT) Carol Darling wore many hats while working on staff at her local church for fifteen years. Then, as part of Church Community Builder, she coached church leaders for almost ten years. She has coordinated and facilitated many women's classes, small groups, and retreats. She loves to hear women talk about ways God is impacting their lives and see that 'aha' moment when a woman suddenly sees a truth in the Bible with new eyes. She and her superhero husband, Stephen, have been married over 44 years and thoroughly enjoy their children and grandchildren. Contact her at [email protected]

How We Love Matters by Albert Tate Pdf

This powerful book reimagines discipleship by begging us to acknowledge that racism exists in the Church—and offers the hopeful message that we can disciple it out. It is not an accident that racism is alive and well in the American church. Racism has, in fact, been taught within the church for so long most of us don’t even recognize it anymore. Pastor Albert Tate guides all of us in acknowledging the racism that keeps us from loving each other the way God intends and encourages siblings in Christ to sit together in racial discomfort, examining the role we may play in someone’s else’s struggle. How We Love Matters is a series of nine moving letters that educate, enlighten, and reimagine discipleship in a way that flips the church on its head. In these letters that include Dear Whiteness, Dear America, and Dear Church, Tate calls out racism in the world, the church, within himself and us. These letters present an anti-racist mission and vision for believers to follow that helps us to speak up at the family table and call out this evil so it will not persist in future generations. Tate believes that the only way to make change is by telling the truth about where we are—relationally, internally, and spiritually. How We Love Matters is an exposition of relevant Biblical truth, a clarion call for all believers to examine how they see and understand each other, and it is a way forward toward justice, reconciliation, and healing. Because, yes, it is important that we love each other, but it is even more important how we love each other.

Drenched in Grace by Lizette Larson-Miller,Walter Knowles Pdf

The importance of baptism within Christian history, theology, and practice is of the first order. Rooted in Christian Scripture, baptism is initiation into Jesus Christ and the sacramental beginning of engagement with the church, the body of Christ. In recent decades, the relationship between baptismal theology and ecclesiology has changed. Rather than focusing solely on the implications of baptism for individuals, the center of theological conversation has moved increasingly to the nature of baptism as formative of the church. One of the pioneers in exploring this theological issue in the United States has been the Rev. Dr. Louis Weil, who, from the time he helped author the 1979 Book of Common Prayer, has advocated for an approach called "baptismal ecclesiology." In a number of essays since the 1980s, Dr. Weil has encouraged an increasingly ecumenical conversation around this particular approach to ecclesiology. This ecumenical collection of essays by a distinguished and international group of sixteen scholars continues the conversation on liturgy and ecclesiology begun by Fr. Weil.

John Wesley's Teachings, Volume 3 by Thomas C. Oden Pdf

John Wesley’s Teachings is the first systematic exposition of John Wesley's theology that is also faithful to Wesley's own writings. Wesley was a prolific writer and commentator on Scripture—his collected works fill eighteen volumes—and yet it is commonly held that he was not systematic or consistent in his theology and teachings. On the contrary, Thomas C. Oden demonstrates that Wesley displayed a remarkable degree of internal consistency over sixty years of preaching and ministry. This series of 4 volumes is a text-by-text guide to John Wesley’s teaching. It introduces Wesley’s thought on the basic tenets of Christian teaching: God, providence, and man (volume 1), Christ and salvation (volume 2), the practice of pastoral care (volume 3), and issues of ethics and society (volume 4). In everyday modern English, Oden clarifies Wesley’s explicit intent and communicates his meaning clearly to a contemporary audience. Both lay and professional readers will find this series useful for devotional reading, moral reflection, sermon preparation, and for referencing Wesley’s opinions on a broad range of pressing issues of contemporary society.

The Ministry, Vol. 12, No. 06 by Various Authors Pdf

This issue of The Ministry contains a complete record of the eight messages given during the 2008 International Training for Elders and Responsible Ones in Anaheim, California, April 2-4, 2008. The general subject of this series of messages is "The Vision, Experience, and Practice of the All-inclusive Oneness." These messages are a continuation of the messages given in the previous International Training for Elders and Responsible Ones in Mexico City, Mexico, October 4-6, 2007 (see The Ministry Magazine, vol. 12 no. 2). The final two messages of that training (Messages 8 and 9) are an introduction to this training. In this volume, we will see that the all-inclusive oneness is actually a person--the all-inclusive Christ. The all-inclusive Christ is the all-inclusive Spirit, who is the all-inclusive processed and consummated Triune God. Therefore, the all-inclusive oneness is actually the all-inclusive Spirit as the processed and consummated Triune God, united, mingled, and incorporated with all the genuine believers in Christ. Moreover, we will also see that this all-inclusive oneness is the expression of God. God is expressed as oneness because He is oneness itself. There is no oneness outside of the Triune God; hence, when He is expressed, He is expressed as a marvelous, mysterious, divine, and mystical oneness. We also include a report concerning the Lord's move in Ethiopia.

Saving Grace by Kirsten Powers Pdf

The CNN senior political analyst and USA Today columnist offers a path to navigating the toxic division in our culture without compromising our convictions and emotional well-being, based on her experience as a journalist during the Trump era, interviews with experts, and research on what leads people to actually change their minds. “Bracing, elevating, and essential . . . Kirsten Powers has given us a great gift at an urgent hour.” —Jon Meacham For years, New York Times bestselling author Kirsten Powers has been center stage for many of our nation’s most searing political and cultural battles as a columnist, TV analyst, and one-time participant in the thunderdome of Twitter. On a good day, there will be civil disagreement. On a bad day, it’s all-out trench warfare—nothing but a cycle of outrage and self-righteousness. More and more, Powers finds herself wondering, along with countless Americans: How are we to cope with this non-stop madness? In Saving Grace, Powers writes with wit and insight about our country’s poisonous political discourse, chronicling the efforts she’s made to stay grounded and preserve her sanity in a post-truth era that has driven many of us to the edge. She draws on lessons offered by faith leaders, therapists, theologians, social scientists, and activists working for change today. She dismantles the widespread misconception that grace means being nice, letting people get away with harmful behavior, or choosing neutrality in the name of peace. Grace, she argues, is anything but an act of surrender; instead, it is a kinetic and transformative force. Saving Grace offers a template for a different kind of America, one where we can engage with people who hold opposing views without sacrificing our values or our passionate beliefs in the causes we care about. It’s a culture that embraces repentance and repair, a process through which those who have caused harm can take responsibility and work toward righting the wrongs in which they have participated. It’s a place where we’re empowered to see the possibility in other people, even people who are driving us nuts. Provocative, original, and filled with deep wisdom, Saving Grace is an essential read for anyone engaged in the struggle to live compassionately in an era of relentless demonization and division.

Hocus-Pocus by Eberekpe Ogho Pdf

Hocus-pocus Both man, Lemur, and friend, Black Cat, work as spoken-wordsmith; their place of work are meetings and conventions or wherever the crowd is large. They erect their tents at different places and start to woo people to their stands, contradicting each other in other to win enough people to their stands to believe in either of them and, in the process sell their tracts and pamphlets. They have just finished from Hyde Park and Stratford where there is a huge gathering of musical and sporting turnouts. Grace works as an official of the government and augments her wage by going to the street every weekend when she is not working with her battered-looking violin to play some disjointed tones by saying 'hello' to forlorn looking passersby to attract their attention and patronage. Your sins are much heavier, then! God's punishment upon your brute would have been tampered if in your weakness you had hit a wife instead of a woman He first created ere her decision at alteration into the creation to be priced and possessed by punch gloves like you, as she strives towards the dearness of motherhood! O, how debased thou art! Why did you allow thyself to be driven to the sharp edge of dire evil by the devil thou art! To raise thy hand up against anything is evil itself let alone God's love, a woman! She will see to medication! Sinner! Subways and moron ...And the fools and yet the many and more damnable bastards who would not aspire to dare...furthering the rapid rise of more fools and many more inconsiderate bastards! Bastards! Oh, difficult villains! It looked at the expanse of life that was present everywhere, the greenery, the physical presence of endeavours and the sacrifices of minds desperately innovative and great in the ever achievements of all these grandeurs, and when it thought of the so-called educated minds far yonder...

Expositions of the Psalms 99-120 (vol. 5) by Saint Augustine (of Hippo) Pdf

"As the psalms are a microcosm of the Old Testament, so the Expositions of the Psalms can be seen as a microcosm of Augustinian thought. In the Book of Psalms are to be found the history of the people of Israel, the theology and spirituality of the Old Covenant, and a treasury of human experience expressed in prayer and poetry. So too does the work of expounding the psalms recapitulate and focus the experiences of Augustine's personal life, his theological reflections and his pastoral concerns as Bishop of Hippo."--Publisher's website.
