High-Velocity Dynamics of Real Gases by V. V. Lunev Pdf

High-Velocity Dynamics of Real Gases examines gas dynamics theory at supersonic and hypersonic velocities, profiling extensive research on problems of gas dynamics theory closely connected with high speed aero- and space-craft practice as well as with problems of solid bodies entering the atmosphere. Topics include: 1) simplest flows, mixed flows, and flows with strong shocks 2) shock waves 3) theory of characteristics 4) hypersonic flow over sharp thin bodies and over slightly blunted bodies 5) dynamics of relaxing gas 6) viscous flows, boundary layers, and nonequilibrium flows. The book presents the theory of gas dynamics as phenomenological, sufficient for understanding genesis, structure, and properties of kinetic or relaxation equations as well as for understanding the general nonequilibrium theory of gasdynamics.

Introduction to Reactive Gas Dynamics by Raymond Brun Pdf

In high energy gas flows, at high velocities and high temperatures, physical and chemical processes such as molecular vibrational excitation, dissociation, ionisation or various reactions take place and deeply influence the structure of the flows. The characteristic times of these processes have the same order of magnitude as aerodynamic characteristic times, so that these reactive media are generally in thermodynamic and chemical non-equilibrium. This book presents a general introductory study of these media. In the first part their fundamental statistical aspects are described, starting from their discrete structure and taking into account the interactions between elementary particles: transport phenomena, relaxation and kinetics as well as their coupling are analysed and illustrated by many examples. The second part deals with the macroscopic re-entry bodies. Finally, the experimental aspects of these flows, their simulations in shock tubes and shock tunnels are described, as well as their application, particularly in the aerospatial domain. This book is intended for students that have acquired a basic knowledge in thermodynamics, statistical physics and fluid mechanics. It will also be of interest to engineers in research and industry, in particular in the aerospace industry, and more generally to all researchers trying to simulate and calculate complex reactive flows.

Rarefied Gas Dynamics by K Karamcheti Pdf

Rarefied Gas Dynamics is a collection of selected papers presented at the Eighth International Symposium on Rarefied Gas Dynamics, held at Stanford University in July 1972. The book is a record of the significant advances in the broad field of Rarefied Gas Dynamics that are considered to be of general and continuing interest. The articles in this compendium are organized under 10 main topics. The text presents research papers on the kinetic theory of gases; studies and experiments on shock structures of gases; use of kinetic theory for the solution of problems in evaporation and condensation; gas expansions and jets; and techniques and methods applied to the study of rarefied gas dynamics. The book also includes works on gas-solid interactions; descriptions of basic notions of current polyatomic gas kinetics; and observation of the gas dynamic phenomena in space. Physicists, aeronautical engineers, mechanical engineers, researchers, and students in the field of aircraft design will find this book a good source of knowledge and information.
